The entire WEST COAST is under a TSUNAMI WARNING, after the 7.4 magnitude Earthquake registered in Eureka. In fact, areas of the beach community have been evacuated just in case. I believe the MAGIC is nearing the port of Puerta Vallarta (it's eleven pm on the ship), and should be out of the danger zone. Thank goodness! This is some wierd weather we've been having here, as I felt an earthquake here yesterday am. :confused3

Take a look:

I know. I am all worried about it now. We leave tomorrow and won't be able to check the boards for updates. I hope everyone is ok, and we don't have any more quakes. :guilty:

I felt the quake the other day too. My family and I initially thought it was some kind of explosion from the Marine air base nearby, but thankfully it was not, just a moderate quake.

I feel them all the time here...and never get "used" to them. I was in Northridge (Mall) a week after the "big one" there, and was freaked when a significant aftershock hit. No fun. Now...the Tsunami. I have called most all my friends on the beach, and they are actually taking this one seriously--and leaving. Two reside in Malibu, one in SB and another in La Joya. We haven't had a Tsunami warning in a LONG time. :sad2: Hope nothing happens. I'll be praying tonight before I fall asleep. Stay safe in San Diego (I grew up there!), and also you too Hollyster2! :grouphug:

Yes, it was very odd to have the movie on the Disney Channel interrupted by a tsunami warning. :earseek:

But there was just another alert that said the warning/watch has been cancelled for San Diego County and I think they said all of California.

Also, our local stations were interrupted by an official WARNING by the state's weather advisory system.

Not minimizing the issue since I know the original Warning would have shaken me up if I had been in CA, but fortunately this time the earthquake didn't cause a Tsunami

Disboards official Eureka, CA residents here!

We didn't feel a thing. I was more surprised by all our family and friends contacting us in the last hour asking if we were okay. That's how we found out about it. I had to search through all our news stations to even find the story.

A tsunami alert would have been nice to know considering we only live three blocks from the ocean!

It was a little scary as we were walking along the beach on our favorite trail earlier between 6:30 and 7:30. I'm not sure what time the quake hit though.

All looks fine now!

CM_Mom~YES, I'm SURE it would have!! Especially since they have interrupted our programming three times now. This is the LATEST from the WEATHERCHANNEL.COM: (BTW..it truly WAS an official "WARNING" as I posted initially).

:wave2: Hi Steve...and Amy! LOL...it's always those most likely to be affected, whom are the LAST to know!! :confused3 :sad2: So happy to read everything is okay, and you have caring and concerned family members & friends conscientious enough to call and check on your welfare. Take care, and be safe. :goodvibes

Okay, there is a drawback to TiVo ... when you're watching shows from last week, you don't get tne news interruptions from tonight

You're welcome! :wave2: We "Californians" have to STICK TOGETHER!! LOL. :grouphug: Glad everything has calmed down...and we are back (nearly) to normal. Now..to answer all the emails from the EAST COASTER's whom inquired about the "QUAKE" and our safety. At least with the Hurricanes...there's some NOTICE!! :confused3 Quakes COME and GO without ANY warning. But...we GOLDEN STATERS CAN TAKE ANYTHING!!

*ivanova~Very true!! I have a phone with VOICE capability. Therefore, when the message machine is on...it overrides the system (keeping it quiet from disturbing me). YET...if it's an EMERGENCY, a friend or family can override this and leave a live (a bit LOUD too) VOICE MESSAGE with is sent over the speaker system!! It's in my security wiring and set-up. Pretty neat, but last eve it proved borderline bothersome. I was reviewing the early part of my manuscript and TRYING to relax. So much for THAT (guess they believe I received enough R&R on the ship!).

All's well...which ends well.

Actually the Magic is safer at sea than she is when she is "safely" docked. If there were an earthquake that created a tsumani she would just ride it out if she was at sea but the ship would be slammed against the dock or inundated with waves if she were in port.
