More problems in a Disney park?

Our local news just said something about dozens trapped on a coaster and possibly 2 coasters have collided. This was at Disney's California Adventure.
They showed a scene with several emergency vehicles. Thats all I know.

Yeah, I saw the same thing. They're not really giving much detail. Hopefully, it'll be in the news tomorrow.

Over at the Disneyland board some people said the news showed that 2 trains collided near the loading station. No serious injuries reported yet but some people were taken to the hospital for examination.

I read this from the LA Times on Google

Disney California Adventure Accident Injures at Least 60
By Rong-Gong Lin II, Times Staff Writer

Two trains on the California Screamin' ride at Disney California Adventure bumped into each on Friday evening, leaving at least 60 riders with minor injuries.

The accident occurred just before 6:45 p.m. as one of the trains was coming was ending its ride and hit a second train that was loading passengers, said Michael Simpson, dispatcher for Metronet, which covers the Anaheim Fire Department.

Most of the injured complained of neck and back pain and some were being sent to local hospitals. Simpson said initial reports indicated that there were no serious injuries.

California Screamin' is one of the more popular rides at California Adventure. The ride is shaped too look like a silhouette of Mickey Mouse's head.

I just watched some of the rescue live on Fox News. They're pulling the passengers off one by one with a Cherry Picker.

I hope everyone is safe and hurt too badly :earseek:

So far, no reported deaths - but I've heard up to 60 injured, depending on which news source you read.

Not good, not good at ALL. That coaster is the flagship ride at DCA (and the closest thing the park comes to having a weenie/icon).

CA has much stricter ride laws than most of the rest of the country, I can imagine this is going to cause a big bro-haha.

This is from the Orange County Register's website. Evidently one train rear-ended another as it was nearing the end of the ride. Ugh.

ANAHEIM – Fifteen people were taken to hospitals tonight after two trains on the California Screamin' roller coaster at Disney's California Adventure park collided, authorities said.

At least 48 people were on the two trains when they collided at 6:39 p.m., Anaheim city spokesman John Nicoletti said. Neither train derailed and most people were able to get off on an adjoining catwalk, but eight people had to be rescued with cranes and a skylift, he said.

Of the 15 people taken to the hospital, 13 were adults, Nicoletti said.

There were as many as 100 firefighters and emergency officials on the scene and 18 ambulances, Nicoletti said.

About 60 of the firefighters were from the Anaheim Fire Department, while the Garden Grove Fire Department and Orange County Fire Authority also sent personnel, he said. State authorities also were called.

Most of the ambulances were not needed and most of the injuries were minor, Nicoletti said.

Both trains were headed in the same direction, with one apparently rear-ending the other.

"Based on the injuries, we believe the accident did not happen at a high rate of speed," Nicoletti said. "All injuries are minor."

City and Disneyland authorities sought to minimize what was happening in an attempt not to upset the large number of people attending the park.

Rob Doughty of Disneyland said there was no estimating how long the ride would be closed. The state's Division of Occupational Safety and Health will conduct an investigation and clear the ride to be reopened once it determines it is safe to do so, he said.
