Every situation is different, and every couple is different, but…
My husband assured me that our first 2 contracts (which were purchased together) would be our
only points. They totaled just over 200… and we’ve now got 5 times that.

Basically, I looked for valid reasons why
he would want more & found out what aspects of DVC he liked best. But! I knew that wouldn’t be enough for him to jump since he hates spending big chunks of money at once (we were quite poor in the beginning of our marriage & he’s still *rightfully* cautious bc of that memory). So, I
waited. I’d give him plenty of time… after a purchase, and between hints of wanting more…
and I would thank him a million times for each trip we got to take & make sure he was happy with the points we’d already bought.
I know I am very fortunate that my hubby loves to spoil me & we had the means to buy more DVC without financial hardship... I don’t take that -or him- for granted.
Just be patient with your husband. Maybe right now isn’t the right time… maybe it will be in 6 months… who knows?? Just keep learning in the meantime. It always helped that if/when my hubby would bring up DVC & ask Q’s- I would have a knowledgeable answer ready for him
Take advantage of the DVC extended hours at Epcot, MK and HS! We get every ride done, some twice, in that two-hour window. If he hates the heat, lines, strollers, and crowds, he'll love those nights. Have booze and food delivered and talk up the cost savings. Pack carryons only and demonstrate how handy the in-room laundry is, not schlepping oversized luggage around. Mention Owners Lockers to store your toiletries and staples and, see, it really IS your home away from home
Everything mentioned here is definitely part of the reason my hubby likes owning DVC! He loves the extended evening hours, moonlight magic events, beautiful rooms/resorts, getting those crazy expensive rooms for a much better deal (he always asks how much it would have cost us on cash), and walking to parks from 3 of our 6 resort homes… we also have an owner’s locker greet us on every trip, but you don’t have to own DVC to use their service.

He likes how much our family loves being at Disney together & how easy it is for me to get around on my own (I’m in a wheelchair on these trips). He also likes the aspect of the resale market & that right now -even with the current dip- we could sell for more than what we paid (for all but our VGF direct points)… he knows the market is volatile, never guaranteed, and we’re not planning to sell anytime soon- but he still just likes knowing it
