:wave2: Hi everyone.
I wanted to pass this on to people who have been wondering. I've been very concerned about this subject as there is 5 of us staying for 11 nights. I have since spoken with Nancy, Area Manager at WL. My biggest concern if you can imagine is the refillabe mugs, my teens think they're the greatest thing ever. They will not be offering them. The cost of pop is only available in bottles for $2 and Hot beverage $1.99. Hot meals are still the same as disers posted before. They are working on possibly having a counter service option at Whispering Canyon, for WL guests only, but that is not for sure.

Why not make a run to a store and purchase your own pop and hot beverage fixings?

You can use the fridge in your room or a small cooler with ice from the ice machine to keep the drinks cold, and use the coffee pot in the room for the hot drinks.

I think that they are still trying to figure out what will happen during this change, it isn't happening until January, which is well over a month away. I wouldn't take anyone's word as set in stone until after January 1 or so when they may have more time to plan this out.

Michael

When were they planning on letting booked guests know? We are booked for feb 4 - 12 so I can assume the restaurant will still be closed when we are there.
Disappointing. . . I hope they can work on a plan to help everyone out.

I am going Jan 21- 28 and I will just use this as ammunition for me to get upgraded from standard to water view room.

Just as a reminder, they don't "owe" you anything because they are refurbishing their quick service location. These things need done at some point, and the off-season is the best time for it to be done.

Yeah, but they due "owe" you the courtesy of telling you that CS won't be available when you're there. I have 2 packages there booked for a week in January, and no one's sent me a letter letting me know. If I didn't hear it on here, I may have arrived and been quite disappointed that there was no CS, especially if I had the meal plan.

I'm a little bummed about it, but not upset enough to change my plans. It would be nice if Disney sent a letter though...maybe its on the way! ;)

Did you book the room yourself or with a Travel Agent? If you went through a travel agent you might not get a letter sent to you.

We are also going to be staying at the WL in Jan. We have not received our letter informing us of the rehab. We booked through AAA. It shouldn't matter if we booked ourselves or with an agent, they still have our information (address, phone number, etc). Everyone staying there during the rehab should get a letter. We aren't changing our reservations. I will miss the refillable mug. But we love the WL!

Oh I know. But someone who is skilled with people skills can use any piece of info, or a situation to their bennifit.

I won't be upset if I dont get it, but this can help.

I booked both packages (one for us, one for my parents) through CRO directly. No big deal, but when someone says they don't owe you anything, I have to disagree. They don't "owe" me a courtyard view b/c I won't have a CS to go to, but it would be nice if they let me know that before I arrived.

Quattro- Do you just plan on "working" it in at check in? Definitely agree you could use it as a little "leverage" for an upgrade - can't hurt.

As a reminder, this topic will not be debated on this board.

The resort is notifying guests about this renovation, and I'm sure it will take awhile for them to notify all the guests. There have been other renovation instances at the other resorts at various times, as these things do happen. AND, WL will be providing a "grab and go" location during the Roaring Fork renovation.

Yes. Every time I rent a room I get the cheapest room I can find. Then at check in, Contrary to what some people think of me on these boards,I put on a "happy face" and start being very conversational with the CM at check in.

Then my wife will walk up with my very very cute (like yours) 4 year old daughter, and my daughter on cue will ask "daddy, can wee see the pool from our room" or something like that. I then play dumb, and say "owe, i'm sorry honey, I think daddy was supposed to ask for that up front" then look to the CM to be a hero and take care of us. This approach has worked 4 out 5 times since my daughter has been goin.

For this trip, I may just ask up fron "I understabd the food court and soda fountain are not running, is there anything we can do to offset this inconvienance"

I don't care what people say. Being quick whitted and knowing how to talk and manipulate people does very well for a lot of peole. The entire sales proffesion was built on it.

I truly hope you are kidding about using your child to get a room upgrade.

If not then I guess manipulating people includes your own family.

And I guess you think Disney is really dumb and falls for all these prepracticed and concieved fake acts of getting an upgrade.

No I was not kidding.

Your loss if you don't have or use the tools. My child is a people person and very well spoken. I can't help it if others want to do things to make her happy.

good luck to you.

I don't have any children at this time. However I do have several nephews and nieces and regardless of how well spoken your daughter is a 4 year old would never know to ask for a room with a view of the pool without being coached. I find that sad. :guilty:

I would pay for an upgrade before ever intentionally using my child this way.

Do keep in mind that Disney will be offering a grab-and-go alternative, so they really had no need to notify us at all. I would, however, be rather upset with a travel agent who Disney sent notification of a rehab, if the travel agent didn't forward a copy of the notification onto me. That's what the travel agent is paid for.

why don't you just pay for what you want
Some people feel like they're better than the rest of us ("have the tools" [?]), and deserve whatever they can gain from abusing the leniency of generous folks like those at WDW. It makes it more difficult for Disney to be generous with the rest of us, but honesty and integrity is its own reward.
