This is one of her first stabs at watercolor

WOW!!!! That is absolutly awesome! You have every right in the world to brag and then some!! Did I say WOW already??? She definatly has a future in art if thats what she wants. Wow!

She seems very talented. :)

Pretty good. I was (or techinally currently am) an art major in college. Is she going to school for art? I loved pencil drawing, it used to be one of my favorites. Never really dabbled in watercolor, I'm a big oil fan.

She will be a senior in high school next year. Everything she has learned so far is either from school or the California Art Institute where she has taken a couple of classes on the weekend. She does intend to study art, though she knows that getting into one of the major art schools right out of high school is difficult so she she is expecting to have to go to junior college until she gets in somewhere.

OMG! :magnify: She is really talented. She is really lucky to have such a beautiful gift!

Beautiful! Feel free to share her artwork any time!

Very awesome!!! Just think she is going to get better! You will be able to have her decorate your house with her work!!

What are the major Art schools? And they are hard to get into?
Great, I have one that wants to be a vet and one that wants to be an artist, but more a of writer actually, the art is her sidework she says. ;)

Amazing work. I must have been out having a beer when artistic talents were being given out. :teeth: Thank goodness for digital photography.

Feel free to post more of her work. It's a pleasure to behold!

I went to NYU, it had a very good fine arts program. I went straight out of high school, and when I graduated with my BFA I went on to Pratt Institute in NYC for my masters. Its also a really good school.

Times have changed in the 15+ years since I've been a student, but I think Sarah should have no problems getting into a good school. She is really good!

Melora, thanks for sharing more of Sarah's work - please feel free to share any time! I really love to see her creations!!

Great work! The fairy in the woods is gorgeous! (I collect fairy art)

She is truly gifted!

Sarahs first choice would be one of the School of Visual Arts in New York or Art Center here in Pasadena. Both are excellent schools.

After all we have read, we have heard that these schools are very hard to get into straight out of high school and most of their student body have gone else where before they accept them.

Not to mention their price tag... OMG...more than a regular 4 year university!

She says she will go to junior college in the mean time, but all she talks about is going to the junior college by her boyfriend who is going to Cal-Poly about 3 hours north of here. I told her unless they have an outstanding art program, I do not think that would be a good choice. We have a great junior college right here by us with a great art program....

I understand that she wants to be near him (they have been together for a year and half) BUT her life comes first and simply choosing a college based on proximity to her boyfriend isnt making good choices.

If she gets into one of the good schools, she will willingly go wherever that takes her though thank goodness!
