More of a parking question

This may have been answered already on these boards, but I haven't seen it...

I live in Orlando and drive to the park. I don't like having to pay $8 every time I go to MK. Can I park at Contemporary and take the Monorail, or do I need to prove I'm staying there? Alternatively, can I park at DTD and take the bus?

I'm looking for alternatives to paying for parking.

Do you have an Annual Pass- if so, you get free parking at all the parks.

If not, you shouldn't park at the Contemporary - their parking lot is for the guests using their hotel and restaurants. If you don't have a parking permit, the guard will issue you a 3 hour dining/shopping pass.

The Downtown Disney option would be okay - but that explains why the parking lot is always SOOO full!

I don't have an annual pass, I have a Florida resident seasonal pass. I wasn't sure of the parking rules at the resorts, but I knew that DTD has free parking. My real issue is that I go EVERY weekend, and the parking is getting expensive. Maybe I'll have to upgrade to the full annual just for the free parking.

Parking at a resort for entry into the parks is prohibited and there are signs stating that fact. The resort parking lots are for guests at that resort or for those having business there.
There are no busses from DD to the parks, they got wise to that "trick" a few years ago.
I certainly can understand that parking each weekend can be expensive. To put things more in perspective, in New Haven, CT parking in a garage for the day can cost upwards of 20.00 and that is to go to work. At least for your 8.00 you are having fun. I wonder how long it would take to break even if you upgraded to an annual.

Easy answer. No, you cannot. Resort parking is for the resort guests.
You cannot get a bus to a park from DTD. Buses only go to resorts. They stopped running buses from DTD to the parks because no one could get a parking place at DTD to shop since all the freeloaders parked there to avoid parking fees.

Alternately, take the Lynx bus to the TTC.

Now that I live in central FL, I feel like I get nickeled and dimed to DEATH! $7.50 round trip to drive to Disney, on top of my pass, on top of $8/day to park. I'm just trying to make it worth my while to go.

If you are going to the park you should expect to pay. I haven't been to an amusement park anywhere in the country that parking was free. It's also not fair to park in hotel parking to avoid the fee.

Where in FL do you live that costs you 7.50 r/t to go to Disney? If you feel you are being "nickled and dimed" to death, realize it is your choice to go to these places. there are other places (gasp) to go that are less expensive. IE: museums.

I am not a Troll, but you are a jerk. You don't need to make judgments about other people. We did just go for the first time two weeks ago, and we went again last weekend, and we are going tomorrow, and we plan to go many other weekends in the near future.

2. I do realize that it is my choice, but I also see nothing wrong with trying to save a little money when possible.
3. Museums will totally defeat the purpose of taking my son out on the weekends. He is much too young to enjoy them, and most of them are not free, in fact, they can be very expensive.
4. Really, I don't appreciate the attitude I am receiving here.

I realize that parking can be very expensive, I lived in Center City Philadelphia for 8 years and owned a car. I paid $220/ month to park. I have figured out that 13 visits will break even, so I will have to upgrade, but $300+ was more than I wanted to spend at one time. At least my Sea World pass allows me to pay monthly.

I realize that Sea World lets you pay monthly, I avail myself of it every month. I also realize that parking is free (5.00 to upgrade to Preferred parking, which I also use). However, Sea World is not Disney.

BTW, I did not know your child's age when I first mentioned alternatives. You could park for free at Sea World and hop a bus to Disney. You can apply your seasonal pass toward the purchase of an annual, so you won't be out 300.00 in one trip.

I don't think I am giving you any attitude, rather, trying to suggest alternatives.
I don't see a problem with saving money, in a legit way. You asked if it was ok, I stated policy dictated it was not.
You need to realize that, here, if you ask a question that is something of a hot topic (do a search on this and see for yourself) you are going to get answers you don't like. Personally, I did not answer you in any way other than direct and honest and TRIED to suggest something else. You might want to reexamine who has the attitude.

Disney is very entertaining to my son. He loves to get out and about, and he really responds well to very stimulating environments. In fact, he gets completely bored by rides like Winnie the Pooh, but is thrilled by Buzz Lightyear. I only work part time, so I am home with him a lot. We do a lot of different things, but on the weekends we like to get away from the house, hence Disney and Sea World.

As for the bus, it isn't really practical since I have a stroller, diaper bag and child to manage all on my own. I have no problem upgrading my pass to an annual, I was just trying to find an alternative since we really will never go during the black-out periods.
