More newbie questions

I submitted my contract for AKV yesterday and now I have to endure the long wait , I thought I'd try to use this time though to help better familiarize myself with how this all works so hopefully I'll be ready to go if/when Disney approves my contract. So, I had some more questions I was hoping you guys could answer:

1. How difficult is it to book a room say 5 months out? I know that's probably a difficult question to answer because it's probably based more on where you wanted to say, so, let me say that my family wanted a 2 bedroom savannah view at AKV, I'm just curious how fast those fill up and whether or not I might have even the slightest chance of getting one in mid-October.

2. Has anyone had any experience using the RCI network? We will have (assuming we pass ROFR) 350 reservation status points that I guess have to be used before August and apparently they are limited in use, but I believe I can use them for RCI. I guess I'm just wondering how difficult it is to use RCI, if it's hard to find rooms and such.

1. - as you suggest, it's unknown untill you call MS. Generally speaking I think you do stand a chance for the 2 bdrm at AK...if not there, then you may well have availability at another resort.

2- Can't help you there - others can speak to that I'm sure.

As you already hinted at, the more specific your reservation needs the harder it will be to secure one as you get closer to the dates you plan to stay, particularly during popular times of the year. The combined AKV complex is a large resort and normally you shouldn't have any trouble booking a 2BR SV during most times of the year. Mid-October is during the Food & Wine Festival and although AKV isn't an Epcot-area resort it may see a larger than normal uptick in reservations during this time just from the overflow. Still I think you will have a pretty good chance of getting what you want, but I would call as soon as you can. If you are flexible (going with a standard view for example) getting something at AKV at the 5 month mark should be fairly easy.

I can't help with the RCI question as I have no experience doing outside exchanges.
