I just saw this on another site. I don't know if I can say which one, but it was the one that first reported FD on 4/10 a couple of weeks ago.

All signs continue to point to Disney's free dining offer beginning to the general public on April 10. We expect Disney Visa cardholders to get their free dining offer a few days earlier, on April 7."

Now if they would only give the dates that it is being offered!!!

I know....I'm so excited. Even though we have FD bounce back, DS who is staying at AKL does not. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the dates work for his stay. We're staying 9/18 to 9/28. We'll be calling early Monday morning!

I have never booked at the time of free dining, what are the past dates that this is usually offered? Is it a small time frame? If we are pass holders, since the new guidelines came out, it says you do not need to buy the ticket to qualify to buy the DDP, can passholders get the free plan?
 
I don't remember the exact dates, but they started some time in August and went to late September. The dates weren't exactly the same every year it's been offered. Last year they ended on Sept. 22 but as long as you checked in by that date, it carried through to the end of your stay. I don't remember the date it started in August. This year the bounce back goes to Sept. 27.

From what I understand, passholders should be able to get the free dining. In the past you had to buy at least a one day pass, but I've heard that is no longer the case.
 
My husband laughed at me b/c I called our AAA agent and told her...I don't want free dining, I want discounted deluxe dining.

He thought that was pretty presumptuous of me....

I told him that at least now I don't have to make a call next week, she's got the notes on what to do should a "code" become available.
 
Well, I posted before was wrong and caught dirt. I called back a few minutes ago. I got a cranky cm who got very angry when I told her what I was told. She said they aren't aloud to ever tell about specials. Customers have to have the exact name or code number and request it.
Called again, got a nice cm. She said the cm shouldn't have told me what he did and it wasn't true. But she recommended I book my room right now. She said they will allow upgrades to the new promo. She also said to monitor all info including wdw.com for promo. She recommended checking their site every morning from now on at 6am. Then as soon as I see a special call at 7am.
While she was telling me this she was making my ressie for a value during the dates of 25-31st. She said this ressie should be eligible for free dining when it comes out. However, their office is floooooded. She was having a problem posting my ressie. No reservations are going through right now. She actually took my number and said she would call me back when she can put it through. She said they don't usually do this but are being told to do it if they can't place a reservation so they don't lose that customers business.

Since September only has 30 days - I'm assuming the month in question is August - primarily based on the fact that I seriously doubt Free Dining would start as early as July 25th or last until October 31st.

Nah.....not dirt....just a few smirks maybe. ;) As I said last night, it was all in the timing of your post. I think most people were expecting a last-minute April Fool's Day joke, and you just happened to get blamed. For the record, I do believe you were trying to be helpful, not play a joke. I just think you spoke to an over-zealous CM who thought he'd end his shift with a "make your day" sort of revelation. You were only trying to be helpful....no harm, no foul. :hippie:

I so hope you get your phone call in a timely manner today. I hate it when that happens (i.e., CM says they'll call you back). This happened to me before, and I spent the better part of the day waiting around for the call. Maybe you'll have better luck. :thumbsup2

Thank-you for letting us know. I hope you let us know when she calls you back. I believed you and was on the phone at 7am. I found it interesting that she said to check the website at 6 am. In the past problems at CRO have been due to adding new promotions. Lets all hope and hope you do indeed get the dates you want.
 
Stupid me, I asked what month your dates were for and it was obviously August since there are not 31 days in September!! I hope the CM is telling you true, because we will be at the Beach Club August 24 - September 1!!
 
How are the Disney Visa holders notified of this offer? :confused3 I do not remember ever getting anything. When is the best time to call for FD?
 
The called me back and gave me my ressies. I wasn't really expecting the return call. She got me in to ASMusice which was my dd's choice. I told her if she needed to she could switch to another value. We've never stayed at a value.
She said to check their site at 6am because she said that the free dining sells out fast and you'll went to be on the phone at 7am. The other choice she said was to call every day at 7am. She seemed to think that free dining would be available for all resorts but that there would be alot less rooms at the value and mod. She also thought that people with ressies and dining already booked would be better off. She was one of the nicest cm's iI've talked to. She lives in Orlando and her and her children spend a good deal of time in the parks and stay in resorts annually. They also make a point of visitng as many restaurants as they can. California Grill is her fave. She was one of those cm's who is a wealth of info from personal experience.

The key word in the cm's statement is "should be" That means that they don't know the dates it will cover yet

This isn't necessarely the case. If the resort is sold out at full price anyone with a reservation already cannot add a discounted offer to the reservation. There must be availability at that particular resort with the discount in order to add it to an existing reservation
