I overheard some CMs talking at the DS yesterday about the new Disney Visa. They were under the impression that the rewards were now going to be cash back of about 1%. They also mentioned something about $10 or $20 increments, but for what, I'm not sure. There might have been an extra benefit for buying Disney or DW stuff, but I don't remember exactly. I'm not sure if it was just speculation, or fact, but they were looking at some papers they had received. Can anyone confirm, deny, or elaborate?

BTW, the adult sweatshirts are now 60% off, kids are 9.99, and kid's t's are 7.99 if you buy two. Costumes and accessories are 75%, except the Xmas Belle, which is 60% off.

I think Disney would make one of the worst economical mistakes in its history if it does not offer rewards that parallel what Universal's offers! With so many visiting guests with buying power, it would be irrational to skip attractive offers and rewards...

I am not one to join and use it if the rewards aren't attractive or worth it. I'll just stick to my Skymiles awards then.

But we have yet to see what the Disney Visa will be all about...

than Universal (not sure if that's quite the word I'm looking for). I think Disney is looking to make more profits from consumers by taking an ordinary Visa and putting it in a Mickey Mouse wrapper. Everything withing the Disney logo on it automatically becomes "Magic" and gets marked up 50% higher. I'm surprised they don't consider it a "reward" just to have Disney's name on it.:o That being said, they'll still get my hard earned cash in their parks and at their stores. If it's worthwhile to me, I'll get their card, but not just because it's got a picture of Tinkerbell (just speculating) on the front.

Even AMEX has cards with no annual fees nowadays, offering nice rewards. Competitive rates vary between 8 - 13% in this market. But I am waiting to see how you earn dream dollars and what you can do with them. Is it one/dollar spent, one/ten dollars spent? who knows, but we'll see.

Yes, traditionally Disney has offered far less than Universal but I don't see it as a prediction, simply because Disney is becoming aware of its vulnerability. It had to bring back ee mornings and modify packages to boost resort stays and now is even offering nice deals to make guests return. Undoubtedly, a financial rude awakening took place.

So, I am hopeful that the big managers jump off their high horses and begin to treat their guests as assets that they could indeed lose, going the extra mile to retain them. I, for one, as much as I love Disney vacations, won't keep blindly loyal to anything or anyone that does not satisfy what we want.

So, I am hopeful that consumer pressure and power will shape this into a great opportunity to save on Disney vacations. It has before, and it can in the future.

All details will be released on March 4th. I have asked questions to people, who work for the issuing bank, and all they will say is March 4th details will be released.

I am just speculating here. Hopefully, it will be something like my Toys R Us visa. You get 4% back in the form of a gift certificate if you use it at TRus or Kids R us. You get 1% back everywhere else. They issue certificates in $10 increments.........good only at their stores.
