Ok, I have the Kodak dx3600

1. What type of battery recharger is the best value and what is the approximate price??

2.What size memory card would be good for a 7 day trip. We will not be able to download the pics til we get home.

3. Anyone ever use this camera for pics of spectro and the fireworks. How is it?? Did you leave the flash off??

Thanks

This should answer question 1. http://www.kodak.com/global/en/digital/easyShare/dx3600/dx3600.jhtml
As to how much memory, you need to find the max. you camera will hold and go from there.
I kept the flash on to fill in the background for the fireworks.
I have not shot Spectro with a digital.

I would also purchase a spare battery.
They have a nice kit. Try this site. http://www.kodak.com/global/en/digital/easyShare/dx3600/dx3600.jhtml

Go to EBAY type in your camera in the search area and see what is for sale. I generally buy all my "spare parts" there and get far better deals than I would locally.

You can also look on places like fatwallet.com for deals on memory. The people in the hot deals forums always post great stuff! :)

Don't forget, you can delete pictures directly from the camera.

Another suggestion on memory:

If you wouldn't normally need as much as you think you will for your Disney trip, you can do what I did.

I already had the memory I normally like to have for regular occassions, but was worried it wouldn't be enough for our Disney trip (5 days, no downloading).

A few days before our trip, I bought the extra memory I thought I would need. I held onto the receipt and left the memory in the original packaging. I planned on opening it ONLY if I needed it during the trip.

Every night of the trip, I went through the pictures and deleted the losers to conserve memory space. I also took pictures on my 3.1 MB (compressed) setting to give more room. The pictures turned out fine.

I never had to open the extra memory and I was able to return it for a full refund after the trip.

Good luck.

I have this camera and love it!

The big thing though is that it really DRAINS the battery. The rechargeable battery that comes in it would be dead by the middle of the day so I would have to use regular batteries in it until I could get back to the room to charge it. Batteries at WDW are $$$$ so I would buy another rechargable or pack extra batteries. I bought an extra rechargeable here for $ 10.70!!. http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10280838&loc=101

I also bought the camera dock for $ 54.00 at buy.com but it is back up to $ 79.99. Here is a link to some other places it can be purchased.

I also bought a 64 MB memory card which allowed me to take over 300 pictures during my last trip at WDW.

I'm a photojournalist and head the photo. dept for a small daily newspaper. We have 8 of the Kodak DX 3600 cameras that our reporters and ad reps shoot with. We just use AA lithium batteries in the cameras and they seem to shoot forever. They amount of time spent viewing the photos on the camera will significantly affect the battery life. The image quality from these little cameras is phenomonal.
As far as card size needed goes it really depends on how much you are going to shoot. It can really increase the number of photos by decreasing file size or quality. You can safely print a 4x6 or 5x7 with the camera set on the good quality instead of best quaility. Decide want you plan to do with the pictures. If you want to get small prints or just view them ona computer use the good quality, you want larger prints use the best quality.
Another way to save space is to delete pix you don't want as you go, so all photos are keepers. My best guess would be for you to have between and 128mb card and a 256 mb card...

Photobob,
Thanks so much for the info, and to everyone else too.
Anymore tips on getting good fireworks and spectro pics??

When I go to WDW. i don't take my professional cameras because i don't want to lug them around, I just take my point and shoot digital and have gotten surprisingly good results shooting fireworks and Illuminations by turning off the flash and having a steady hand. I usually shoot several photos because some will be blurry because of camera shake, but a few work out. Here's another photo-tip. I wanted to get a night shoot of my and two kids with the castle beautifully lit in the background. To do that I change the flash to fill flash mode and it gives just enough flash to light up the people in the foreground and the castle is a beautiful blue in the background.

What's the pix on this camera (Kodak DX 3600 ) and does it have a zoom feature. Interested in a good digital camera. The pics are starting to cost a small fortune. (film, developing and getting those not so good pics)

They are 2.1 megapixel with a zoom equivalent to a 35-70 zoom. If I were to buy one though I'd look more in the 3 megapixel range with a little longer zoom...Bob

I agree, and one with more optical zoom versues digital zoom.

I do, however, love the quality that comes out of my Nikon 950. I have also purchased a wide angle and telephoto lense for this camera and I get some really wonderful pictures. I set it on fine.

I also have the Nikon 5000 and, once I figure it out, I am sure I will have awesome pics. :) The pictures I have taken with it are wonderful. Just need to learn the "bells and whistles" of it. :)

I have a Fugi Finepix 2800 and I love it. It has a 6X optical zoom and that is why I chose it. I wanted more optical than digital zoom. It has 3X digital. It was great for focusing in on details at WDW that couldn't normally be seen as clearly without the optical zoom.
