Does anyone one know???????

Can you have an Illuminations Desert Party if you are not booking your wedding through DFTW? I thought I read some past stories on the Dis where someone has had various parties at Disney (birthdays/reunions/etc) and not sure if the DP was one of them. But I'm sure we can do something more special than just dinner.

I am confused as to whether this would even be an option for me or if it is something special for DFTW couples (we are Swan). The other issue is, our guests are not staying at Disney resorts so we do not qualify as a Grand Gathering. We are keeping things on the small scale but I had my heart set on a DP as I thought it would be so special.

I understand that wedding attire is not allowed and this is ok. It will probably be hours later anyway. We can always wear some Bride Ears and such and have a special celebration - that is all we are looking for.

Please excuse my franticness :scared: . I am getting a bit overwhelmed. We picked a date and started planning so fast. I just have so much to do. I just want to get some venues booked so we can move forward with other planning. And now I'm second guessing our decision like a crazy person...

So if anyone knows (or has any other suggestions), please feel free to share. I would also need to know who to call.

Thanks in advance!!

You can do a dessert party even with the DFTW! We have done them alot of times and never once had a disney wedding. They are a lot of fun and your family would have a lot of fun! We have had them at Japan and Moracco sp, and they were fantastic! have fun plaining!

Thanks Miranda! This is encouraging. Do you remember how you booked them - who did you call?

I appreciate it!!!!

So does anyone know who you call to try and book? Group Dining? :confused3

Sorry to be a pain...thanks :upsidedow

HI XmasPixie...I was in your shoes a few months ago and know how frustrating it is. I called lots of people at Disney multiple times...WDW-Dine, Epcot food and beverage manager, grand gatherings, the conference people, etc. I kept hearing that someone had to be staying on-site. I still don't know if this is true or not. (We decided on a Wishes wedding so I stopped looking.)

If you have approx. 10 people the fireworks cruise looks like a great option for you. We had more than that so we couldn't do it.

Otherwise, you could look at booking one night at Disney to get your foot in the door for the DP.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. Just wanted you to know I feel your pain!

Thanks for the input, Jen. The groom & I will be staying at a Disney resort - just not sure which one yet, hopefully this will help the cause. We should have the room booked this week.

We might have too many for the cruise, but that is a lovely idea.
