More DDP with DVC ?'s

We are going to be doing the DDP for the 2 bedroom portion of our trip because our guests want to do it. How are the dining credits used? Are they on EACH card? Is there the requisit number on each card or is it a pool for the whole unit?

Each card shows the number of people on the plan for that reservation. In our case, it said 4A for 4 adults. When we were there in early August the credits were still pooled, but that made difference to us since there were only adults on the plan.

Anyone can use their card at anytime, and the system will just keep a running total of what is still available for that dining option. It will only show the amount of credits remaining for what was just 'purchased'--so if it was used for a snack purchase, it would show how many snack credits were left, but no info about the CS and TS credits left.

It doesn't matter who uses what credits when--in our case, I think DS used about 10 of our 16 total snack credits --as long as you don't exceed the total number allowed for the reservation.

BTW-we LOVED the plan. When we got home, we added the DDP to our upcoming SSR reservation too. While I've never minded cooking when we're at WDW, I have to say I REALLY enjoyed NOT doing it.

You have to coordinate it yourselves. From Disney's perspective, there's only one group in your villa. Each family will need to keep track of what they're using.

The front desk can print out a listing for you. There are two types of DDP reports. The first is just a summary of the points you have left in each category. The second is a list of the restaurants, dates, times, and number of credits used for each meal. This is actually a separate report for each type of credit (TS, CS, and snack). I got these about halfway through our stay, but didn't save them. I can't remember if it shows the ID of which key paid for the credits or not. They do this for room charges, so it's not out of the question that it might be on there for the DDP, too.

When you are staying with another family, and you book the dining plan, can each family pay for it's own part of the dining plan? Will the front desk slit the charges, so to speak, so each group can pay separately and you don't have to worry about one group reimbursing another?

Ah, good question! I would assume if they can't do that, you can always just put it on the one card and have the other family reimburse you. That was what we were expecting to do if they would only let one charge be made.

Yes, but a check will work. If they MUST use a credit card, then maybe they can't afford the trip!

If they will not split the cost at the desk, you can put the entire bill on the room charge (which, of course only allows one credit card), then the other party can run their credit card and put that amount as a credit on your room charge bill, then the desk will most likely need to re-scan the main card so the computer will have the correct card on file for the remainder of the room charge.

Thanks, Chuck. We are travelling with my in-laws. Not that they can't afford it, but FIL likes to rack up the frequent flyer miles with his card.

Not exactly the same situation, but we wanted to put our DDP on one credit card (I'd already paid my roommate my half and he was using his card to get the miles), and the room charging to another card (my Disney Visa card). It took the CM a few minutes to figure out how to do it, but she was able.

I would think that you could ask them to charge so much to one card, and so much to another.

That sounds confusing, but I THINK I followed it! Sounds like room for error on the part of the desk too. I'll probably just have our guest write us a check.

I decided to just call MS and ask about splitting the dining plan charges and if it was possible. The rep I talked to said that was definitely possible, we just all have to be checking in at the same time so that the payments can be done all at once. Hopefully all will be fine when we check in in 109 days!

We really enjoyed the DDP, but I do wish they would seperate the credits into individual cards.

The only way for a family group to do this is to keep up with it themselves and the snacks can become confusing. The best plan is to keep all receipts and each night have a tally made of who spent what.

I would make sure the other family understands exactly what part of the plan is theirs and what part is yours.
