Sheesh....maybe Disboards should have a *traveling to DC* board! LOL!

My question is that if I were staying in Maryland or Virginia, what are my transportation options for getting into DC? Prices are good around Regan International, but will that leave me without transportation in to the heart of DC? How about other places? Alexandria? Dulles? Bethesda?

What's the metro (I assume it's a subway?) and where does it go?

Metro is our subway system, which does run into both MD and VA.
Check out the metro website to station information:

Dulles is not a good option. There is no rail out there. Alexandria and Bethesda both have Metro access.

We stayed at the Hilton in Silver Springs Maryland. It was just 2 blocks away from the Metro.:woohoo::goodvibes

If you are staying in MD or VA, look for hotels that advertise how close they are to the Metro station. Those are the ones you want to choose. If not, you will have to rely on cabs to get you to the station.

Ditto this...

If you're looking at hotels in Alexandria (and some other parts of NOVA), be especially careful. Some parts of Alexandria are nowhere close to a Metro (subway) stop. :flower3:

ETA: NOVA = NOrthern VA... NOVA
