Well, here's my "Boardwalk View." No one should be staying in these rooms, and Disney knows this. With this thing parked out there all weekend too. Construction started Monday 9:15AM pulling pieces off the building. This is LOUD. Good luck with nap time with this. And we are right on Jelly Rolls so we were still thumping at the club when I fell asleep at midnight. And these rooms were all blocked off a few months ago to install these awesome new beds. Why not do this then?

I'm not a sensitive sleeper, and I have pretty high tolerance for noise (boat noise at Poly doesn't phase me), but this is ridiculous.

The note says we can't leave anything on our balcony or use it 9AM-9PM. Wow. (Edit: That's the timing the guy said. The note has no timing at all. So maybe I'm never supposed to be out there? Don't really want to catch a piece of building coming down...)

In my last construction debacle at VGF2, I asked for nothing. I feel there has to be a better plan. So, what should I do team?

I mean all you can really do is ask to be moved. I'd be unhappy as well.

Go to the main desk and ask to speak with a manager. That's what I would do. Between the noise at night and the inability to use the balcony (probably something you wanted to do), it's not acceptable. Same points as the garden view, but at least you could use the balcony.

Excellent plan… and bring the picture with you as evidence!

How would they know this? With the level of construction going on, it's virtually impossible to be exact on a construction schedule.

This is not a minor repair. It is LOUD. I have done some Zoom calls with it, but no one is sleeping through this. I've stayed in a whole lot of hotels, Disney seems to be the only one who thinks it's OK to rip panels off of buildings a few feet from paying guests -- and it's happened twice now to me! Every other hotel seems to figure it out. And all of these Boardwalk view rooms were blocked off a few months ago. Seems like that would be the obvious time to rip pieces off of buildings?

That’s just more reason to keep more of their 2% of rooms free across property for when problems like this arise.

Despite moving to another hotel, I would still comment to the front desk.

It's 100% not just Disney, go see the current construction at Portifino Bay. There doing the exact same thing, I would argue that it's worse than Disney. Muliple people have posted picture of skrim/scaffolding in front of there windows from which you can barley see out of. I guess Universal can't seem to figure it out either then or maybe most hotels operate the same way when your dealing with construction on a massive scale that covers the entire resort.

if you can do construction while getting paying guests.....

I would at least ask for the point difference between a BW view and standard view room….

It's definitely worth notifying the front desk - even when moving to another resort - that is bad enough that they should (and probably would) provide some kind of account credit for the inconvenience.

Haha, we had that at Hard Rock Hotel. We opened our window and it was literally a fabric construction curtain. We weren't planning to spend time in the room so didn't make a stink.

All day noise is a bigger thing. I would personally have asked to be moved, and if they can't move I would then want some compensation. It's hard to get, but I would have at least tried. (Nicely, of course.)

I hope the BWV work will be finished by OCT before our trip.

I avoid booking hotels that have any construction may be possible banners at the time of booking (up to and including just the pools) - regardless of where I think the room may or may not be - or whether I think it may or may not be as impactful to my vacation in general. In the event that such banners are placed after a booking or I receive a communication indicating such - I contact member services prior to my stay.

Clearly, this method may result in a stay at a location that may be lower on my list, but it has kept me (so far) from dealing with inevitable disappointment on a wide scale planned refurbishment at the hotel. Personally, I like seeing that renovation is happening for a better product - while it may not be at the best time or at a desired location for a particular trip date I have in mind.

There are some case, like a short extended weekend for just myself and my wife, where it’s less of a concern for us because we have yet to encounter a situation where someone is pulling building panels and doing room demo during sleep time hours.

People are too nice. Make a stink of it. They do it, frankly, because they can. Ford decided it was cheaper to settle Pinto lawsuits than to recall every car, it’s like the blueprint of corporations.
