More Blackout Dates Coming?

I have seen alot of people advising there shouldn't be anymore changes to blackout dates.
I also know when I got my AP in Oct, I asked the lady at the window what the exact policy was on changing black out dates. She said they can infact as you all know change blackout dates whenever they want but that she didn't expect anymore to be added even for SWGE, she said they already added the appropriate blackout dates.

But here is an insert from this article "Disney representatives said more days would be blocked out for most annual passes compared to last year but didn’t provide more specifics...."

Thoughts?

There are already more blockout dates on all passes below Sig/Sig Plus for 2019 then there were in 2018. Those calendars are already available.

I think the thought is prices will increase again and blackout dates will still be added, but I sure hope not

I think this was the big increase for the year. They wanted to get people before they started buying tickets and APs in anticipation of SWGE's opening etc. is announced. It's something they didn't do with Cars Land when that big increase came 3 weeks before the opening. Also, the 2018 increase was large for the APs, this one was even larger.

Don't forget that changes to the blockout calendar can also be positive. Dates were added (i.e. unblocked) to the lower AP blockout calendar for June 2018 (much to the consternation of non-AP posters here who had trips planned for those dates!). Changes aren't always negative.

Does anyone know if Disneyland has historically blocked out dates that were not previously announced? I know their T&C state that they can, but I'm curious as to how often that actually happens

No. As mentioned, they unblocked days last summer. They haven’t blocked out dates after publishing the blockout schedule.

The article says there will be more block out dates compared to last year. That is true on all but Sig & Sig+ already. That doesn’t necessarily mean more will be added.

EDIT: NVM, I see that you said ALL BUT. I missed that at first.

Yup . They also un-blocked Signature Annual Passes on Tower of Terror's last day of operation in 2017.

I've never seen Disney add block out dates after they have been published . It would be very bad PR if they did.

They’ve done it one for the deluxe pass from what I can remember. They did a date swap in 2015. Took away July 17 and gave back thanksgiving day.

Disney does occasionally add blackout dates, it used to be that the pass levels would essentially specify the maximum number of blackout dates each pass level would have by saying something like "Valid for admission for at least 235 days a year." This would indicate that they could have up to 130 blackout dates for that pass level.

Now there is no guarantee about the number of days that will be available aside from the Signature Plus and Premier levels that have no backout dates.
