More bad press for DLP

I think it's so unfair how they are blaming DLP for this. A lot of people attempt and commit suicide every day, you cannot just blame one factor in a person's life for this. It sounds like the person was desperate, I very much hope they get the help they need. :sad1:

Exactly, most if not all jobs are stressful at times, fortunately this person didn't succeed in taking there own life and I too hope they get the help they need.

I work for the ambulance service and go to at least 2 suicide attempts a week and that is just me there are many other crews out there doing the same.

I always feel it is so unfair that whenever the press report on anything to do with DLP they trot out the "never made a profit" and "demoralised workforce" lines and generally seem to try and run it down.

With regard to the attempted suicide I agree with others that all kinds of factors which we know nothing about will have contributed to this very sad incident. I've looked up a few statistics and for 2011, which is the most recent I can find, DLP had over 15 000 employees. In this year there were sadly two suicides amongst employees which if my maths is correct is .013 percent. In the same year the UK as a whole had a .118 suicide percentage rate so I don't think DLP can be considered a particular suicide blackspot and as far as I know there have been no more attempts until this one.

Anything like this is very sad and I hope the management acknowledge any issues that may have led to the employees distress but I just wish the press wouldn't leap on to every opportunity to trash this lovely park and would sometimes balance with all the positive, heart-warming stories of the joy it brings and the benefits of being part of such a diverse and cosmopolitan workforce.

Me too....

I hated how the Daily Mail wrote about the accident that left a small child in the "critical" condition in their article for this, yet failed to report he made a full recovery and went BACK for the rest of his holiday. There will always be negatives in the papers when ever something like this happens, I feel sorry the CM was at the lowest point they could take, but I don't believe DLP are responsible. This poor person obviously needs some help :(

It's so sad that this person has has such a bad experience in their life that they would consider ending their life in such an awful way but I do not see that dlp can be blamed for this.
Everyone has stress in their life's and jobs it's a everyday fact but,to want to take your own life in such a way indicates an underlying issue that goes much deeper that just a "work related problem".
I really hope this person gets the help that they need and are supported by everyone around them.
And a huge 'cyber hug' goes to the individual that saved this person, what strength they must have had in that split second to risk their own life with no thought for themselves. You are a true star.xxx
