Hi Everyone,
A friend of mine asked if there are any resorts that weren't frequented by families or their first choice. He is planning on going in the fall. I told him I would reach out to ask...He is aware that children will be everywhere, but was curious if there were some resort that weren't family favorites (for example all star sports for various school sporting events).

Inquiring minds...Any insight is greatly appreciated!

You're going to see very large numbers of children at every resort on Disney property. It's true that convention resorts will have groups of adults there for meetings, but in many cases, those attendees bring their families, and not many meeting groups fill the entire resort. For example, CSR has nearly 2000 rooms. Even if there's a meeting with several hundred attendees, you're still going to have thousands of "regular" guests staying at the resort.

Some will say that the deluxes have more of an adult experience than, say, the values, but you're still going to see kids everywhere all the way up to the GF. It's just the nature of WDW.

They may have more luck offsite. I've stayed at hotels over by the convention center, and while there were still kids around, there were definitely fewer than you see at the Disney resorts.

As said above, it’s Disney kids are everywhere. But resorts that seem to have less kids than others / more adult theming...

Deluxe = Yacht Club, Dolphin/Swan

DVC = Old Key West, Saratoga Springs

Moderates = Coronado Springs, Port Orleans (both)

Value = None

Friend rich? The Four Seasons.

I just stayed at the Hyatt Regency near the conference center. Very very very few kids there.

Well, you’ll see kids but I think Yacht Club is the most adult-like resort. It’s usually quiet, and it’s in a beautiful spot/location. Again, there will be kids - especially by the main pool because it’s shared with Beach Club. The renovated rooms are great as well.

Try the Waldorf Orlando at Bonnet creek. The suites are very nice and there is a serene quiet pool to die for with access to a lazy river pool next door at the adjoining Hilton Bonnet creek which does have a lot of kids. Great spa. The Peacock bar is lovely and the Bull and Bear is a great restaurant. Complimentary bus service to the parks, but also quick access via Uber since it is located along a canal next to CB. Golf course on property. Not sure if they still do it but there is a complimentary tea service (my personal favorite, Tea Forte) included with coffee offered in the am. We have stayed multiple times, once via booking with my Hilton honors at the Hilton Bonnet creek. I received an email offer to upgrade if available to a Waldorf suite. It was a very good deal. Very different vibe than most Disney resorts.

I also very much like the Dolphin for an adult trip. Great pools and pool bar, lovely rooms after renovation. Walk or boat to 2 parks. Good happy hour at the Blue Zoo. I have managed some great views there. It helps if you are SPG gold or platinum. Some kids but it’s a big place.

I would disagree about Port Orleans not having a lot of kids - especially Riverside with the Royal Rooms and the rooms that can accommodate 5.

Yacht Club is a great option, just keep in mind they share a pool with Beach Club and while the pool is definitely one of the best on property, it will be full of kids. Lots of kids.

Quiet pool at BWV has had few kids almost every we have stayed at the resort. Lots of kids though in feature pool and in the hallways in the resort.

Belle Vue Lounge is great (quiet) after breakfast and really great when the bar opens.

Also BWV is an easy walk to the international gateway. To me, the countries area has always had an adult feel.

AGREE^

If they are open to non-Disney hotel (on or almost on property) I would look at Waldorf or Hilton Bonnet Creek along with the Swalfin resorts (which also offers nice dining). Four Seasons has also been mentioned as an option.

I would disagree about Port Orleans not having a lot of kids - especially Riverside with the Royal Rooms and the rooms that can accommodate 5.

POR and CBR both offer rooms for 5 and are VERY popular with families. POFQ is smaller with a pool very geared for young children, and is very popular with young families. It does not have quiet pools and has a very small hot tub. As far as moderates go my only suggestion would be Coronado Springs. We have found it to be the most adult oriented hotel.

I would say none of the values would be a good choice.

As far as the deluxe I think Boardwalk would be my first choice, and I honestly can't say I'd pick any other if I truly wanted to avoid children and noise. They are there but the hotel is structured to be less appealing to many. There will be some with offerings that appeal to adults but still be kids around. I think it depends on their plans AT the hotel, what amenities they want to use and the hours they will keep there.
