More AAA Questions

We are current AP holders, but not currenly AAA members, planning a trip for Oct. 14-23. I currently have a room booked at the CBR at rack rate, waiting and hoping for an AP room discount to happen. I am thinking of calling back to change my current reservation to ask for a AAA rate. My questions are this:

1. Do I have to have a AAA member # to book the room/get the AAA room rate or will I just have to show the membership card at check-in?

2. Do AAA rates really "sell out"? I was hoping that AAA is a discount always offered so that I could wait until the last minute to a membership and change to a AAA rate.

1. Sometimes YES and sometimes NO. It really depends on which CM you talk to. People have reported it both ways.

2. They are just like AP or other special codes there are only so many per resort at that rate. So waiting last minute you would most likly be paying rack rate. But if there are some left for when you go you could get it but don't hold your breath.

I just changed my 2006 reservation to AAA (through CRO) and was not asked for my card number. I have been asked before. I remember them being more strict a couple of years ago. You couldn't get a quote without having the AAA #.

They do sell out, especially at popular times for popular rooms. For example, we had difficulty getting an AAA discount for standard rooms at WL or POFQ a few months before our planned 2005 trip (end of april).

Hello all!

I just joined and am having fun researching for our trip in Feb 2006.
I have a question about AAA discounts though.
I booked a room only ressie and now we think we might want the dining plan.

I know that this is essentially a package, but when I was given a quote for a AAA package,
the price reflected Rack Rates, not the 20% off rates?!!?!

So my question is this.... Is it possible to get the following:
- AAA Discount off Rack Rates (20% off POFQ Value Season Std View)
- Dining Plan ($35/adult,$10/child)
- AAA Discount on Tickets

to get a AAA discount on a package you must go through a AAA travel agent. You can't get the package discount through Disney.
As far as needing the AAA card to make a reservation, when I recently changed my room only reservation to a AAA one, not only did he ask for my card number, but asked when it expired. However, I have never been asked to show it at check in, even though they always say that I will need to show it.

I'm not sure if you were answering my question or not... but anyway, I did receive a package price from a AAA TA but the problem is the package price I received reflected rack rate on the room, not the 20% off like I currently have for the room only ressie.

Is there a way to get 20% off rack, dining plan and discounted tickets with AAA? Was my AAA TA doing something wrong?

It sounds like they are having problems. I just got home from AAA and they had no problem getting me the discount on the room.
With the dining package you get the discount on the room but not on the park tickets. But on the plus side the longer you stay at WDW the cheaper the tickets get and it might work out to be the same or maybe even cheaper then the AAA discount on the tickets alone.

I am planning on booking an AAA package deal and wondering if you can piggyback if another deal comes out like free dining, or a reduced room rate, etc.

You should be able to, if you are booking with AAA. A word of advice, lots of AAA agents don't know what they are doing. I've heard of people only being quoted rates with PREMIUM MYW tickets. My local AAA thought there was a charge for ME and acted like I was getting some great bonus by getting it free since I booked with them. Even the "great" AAA agent some DIS'ers were raving about tried to convince me that my non-potty trained 22 month old twins could go to some kind of childcare day camp at the deluxe resorts.

I know they aren't Disney experts, but if they don't know the answer, they should find out instead of making it up.

That seems to be true...though the agent that I have has been wonderful.

Your quote should reflect the discount. The quote that I got was a lump sum quote, but I backed in and figured that I got around a 15-20% discount on my room. But as others have mentioned, you will only get the discount on room rates, not tickets. Just ask for the quote again (not sure if you did it online or by calling...I did it online and got the discount). Good luck.

My local CAA agent also quoted me premium MYW package and then had to look up the prices when I *knew* it looked way too high. If I hadn't have known, I'd ended up with a much more expensive package which I didn't need. She, too, seemed to be boasting far too much about the free ME package, as if it were a AAA benefit and not a Disney-package benefit.

Worse (for her atleast!), the local agent didn't (ever) return my phone message when the original free dining package was released. So, we ended up booking with the AAA agent recommended here...and quickly added two more rooms (and five more people)

I agree it would be better to have agents who know their limits and know when they need to check something. Thank goodness for email, since my TA hasn't been overly available by phone (mostly because of some wonky voicemail at her office....).
Anyway, I do hope our AAA TA figures out what AAA bonuses we're supposed to get. We're hoping for AAA parking passes and the MK lounge pass, not sure what else to expect.
