Same for phone lines PJ. Electricity not needed.
Sorry about your day from helk!

PJ - seriously you would've been shut down by the state here with no electricity no running water! You cant flush toilets - that's INSANE! Health code violations are running rampant! Next week I'll bet they'll have a flu going around - one school here had 200 absences (out of 5oo kids) :scared1:
Cel, glad you got a new hotel. Did the other one at least take money off the rates?
I sure hope they didnt charge you - you def had a great attitude... here anyway!!

[QUOTE PJ] Marita...I wonder if anyone would ever complain about being upgraded. Idk, maybe there's someone out there who just looooves Pop and would rather stay there than the Beach Club. People are wIerd, ya know.

I'm sure there are those people. Probably mostly for the lack of Quick Service if they are on the QSR plan. I haven't heard anything, but then I rarely hear anything anyway, LOL.

Marita - What was that reference in reference to?

I dont remember :confused3
was it because you mentioned how overbooked the Pop was - or that Pop and some values downsized their staff - so they were going to offer some guests the Deluxe resort?? :confused3

Twinkie, hope your week from helk ends soon  We miss you

adding my goog wishes

Moo, how much do 100 points cost?

just a drop in the bucket! See if you factor in how much a resort 7 or 10 day is!! I'm goog at Disney math :goodvibes

Dh stayed home sick for 2 days this week, went to work today, and said hes not sure he is going in tomorrow. He just got up to get iced tea. Not a good sign for tomorrow. He already said he might not go in tomorrow.

Hope he's feeling better...

I'm still hungry and have no idea what I want to eat. I had one chicago roll all day.

I live in Chicago and have no idea what a Chicago roll is - is it like Kaiser roll?? Hot dog roll but chewier? :confused3 I make Parker House rolls, but they are soft and ymmy

Pretty run of the mill day here for me today, nothing to report.

sure, we know you are hiding the goog stuff!! Like an update on knitfreak - is she still paying that guy to live there?

ETA: I just proposed lunch at Panera for tomorrow with the work group. Broccoli cheese soup and fresh french bread, YUM! Hope it works out.

Everyone

I love their French Onion soup - if only it didnt have too many onions in it!! (seriously!)

I just heard a commercial from E-Harmony saying that its a free communication weekend. Friday-Monday :goodvibes

OH that's right, the paper talked about a free service from match that e-harmony was trying to compete with.... I'll have to look it up... but ds used the newspapers to wrap his Valentine's gift in!

Mony stay dry - hope you dont have to do the flood crap! (and we have an edible arrangements franchise here - they do beautiful work - they make it look so easy!!)

Nothing new to report here! :yay:

Quiet here today.

We finally got some sun but the darn cold came back.

I made all those cookies for the kids school and only Hannah took hers. Nicholas didn't want to take them. He said it would embarrass him. :confused3

I guess grade 6 , even grade 5 no Christmas cards, no Valentines. Check.

I never looked into DVC but wow I guess I never thought it was that expensive. We were going to go away in April but now we are going to finish some of our basement.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday even though it is Friday the 13th!

Just got back from the park. Wow am I tired! I only got to see a couple manatee tails and from quite a distance(the shade, boy is it HOT). The boys didn't have the patience for waiting to see if one surfaced. They just wanted to eat and play on the playground.

It was a good time and I'm so proud of myself to dragging them all out there(plus Falynn) by myself! (with a terrible cold and pregnant.)

Chad is gone to a side job with my Dad. This morning he went to fill out all his paperwork for the new job. They are giving him $14 an hour! Yay! I am so happy!!! It will be such a blessing to be able to pay our bills. ;) And the first job he'll be working on is in Cape Coral which is SO much closer than Naples( where most of the work was at the old job).

Just popping in to say Happy Birthing Day to mee!:lovestruc

The twinkie twins turn 7 today. It is like they say "the days are long but the years are short."

I am preparing for the Cooking Party which starts in just a few hrs. I have so much to do. Of course everyone is home from school and I had student drama to contend with this morning.

MP- Yay about the new job. However I think you added a zero on the DVC costs. Either that or I am moving to Florida if you can get a house for less than 16 grand.

Moo & Sandy- Thanks for the happy thoughts.

BDG- Happy Friday the 13th. Thanks for the cute (?) video clip. :goodvibes

BBN- I bought my Valentine some reeses peanut butter cups but they seem to be missing:confused3

PJ- I hope you get power. Your day did seem super wuckety.

Cel- Glad you found a new hotel. I was enjoying the all cell all the time channel.

Twinkie - She said it was $11000 just for 100 points. Do you realize how many points our size families would need? There are houses that have bank repo'd for $30,000 and up here.

MP, YAY for the $14/hour! :thumbsup2

Mony, hope your basement doesn't flood again! :scared: Keeping all appendages crossed. How cute that Mal was so excited to have you there.

Twinkie, Happy Birthing day to you and happy birthday to the twinkie twins.
Hope you have a better week next week and rejoin us.

Nab, Nicholas is growing up. Pretty soon it will be very uncool to be seen with his parents around, LOL. Luckily that passes with age.

The values did NOT downsize their staff. They are overbooked on purpose because Values are more in demand. It's all to get heads in beds and people in the parks. We have a department called Revenue Managements which does the planning for all this in order to maxime total revenue.

I'm still hungry and have no idea what I want to eat. I had one chicago roll all day.

They are like Kaiser rolls, but crusty, especially when baked in the oven for a few minutes. Publix here calls them that. Like brotchen or semmeln from a German bakery.

Pretty run of the mill day here for me today, nothing to report.

sure, we know you are hiding the goog stuff!! Like an update on knitfreak - is she still paying that guy to live there?

She never paid for him to live there. He moved down after he had a job lined up. In fact, he just got his first paycheck in 5 weeks.

We made it to Panera today, YAY, but just knitfreak and Asst #2 and me. Last time I went I ordered Broccoli soup, and got a bowl instead of a cup. Fine, I didnt specify, so I lose. But today I SPECIFICALLY asked for a cup, and still got a bowl (and paid for it). But today I got a to go container and packed it up, so I have half the soup and bread left for dinner, so it's all good.
Capital equipment requests were due to me today. Our Convention guy asked for $61,000 for Espresso carts, because now we have to rent if we get Espresso requests (must be big things for lots of people and themed, I am sure we have a regular machine in the back). Anyway, I looked up how much we paid for rentals in the last 2 years. FY 2007, 3 times for $11K. OK, maybe this might pencil out. FY 2008, 2 times for $6K. So I called him and asked some questions, and he said "just take it off, I'm fine with that, I just like to keep a running list" He asked for it last time too.
We all know the times we live in, why is he even wasting my time with this? :sad2:

My Food & Beverage guy on the other hand pared down his list from 23 items to 5 MUST HAVE to operate replacement items listed in priority order, before the 23 item list ever even got to me. I love that guy, he has made an amazing impact on the operation. :flower3: Let me just say I hope to never have to work with the previous manager again, EVAH!!

Everyone

OHH, Fiddler on the Roof is on at 8PM tonight on TCM!

Sunrise, sunset...

The mama, the papa ..... TRADITION!

I made a really cute cookbook with German recipes for DD for Xmas 2004, cause she asked for it.
With borders appropriate to the recipe and pics of ingredients for the recipe from microsoft. (clipart, funny pics, think Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit (for those old enough to remember))

Unfortunately I lost the updated version in the great PC crash of 2008. Anyway, I think I am going to go to what I have left and add cookie recipes that she has added and stashed paper versions of in the folder since then. The folder itself got damaged a couple of years ago when some liquid seeped in the front cover and ruined it. The recipies are fine, all in plastic sleeves just to prevent such damage.
So I might do that tonight.
DH is recovered enough from his cold to make dinner, Cheese Noodle casserole with stewed tomatoes.

Mony - Hope your re-done basement stays dry! I saw some photos today of flooding in the Saginaw Bay region of the state. Lots of piled up ice rafts :scared:

Awww, HAPPY BIRTHING DAY, Twink!!!!! :cake: :cake:

With respect to DVC costs and its affordability, I think a lot of it depends on how you vacation at Disney as a family. It seems to be priced to appeal to people who tend to stay in deluxe accommodations vs. value/moderates. Viewed that way, the pay-off period seems more reasonable if you look at how the cost compares to going through the reservations system to stay, for example, at the Yacht & Beach Club for several years paying cash.

If you bank your points and go every other year, for the minimum buy-in a larger family can get a 2 bedroom that sleeps 8 for a week +/- a day in most seasons.

I never would have considered buying in when I was in my 20s/30s because we always took budget vacations then and camped a fair amount. Although, if we had bought in early like "some people" ;) all we'd have been paying for deluxe lodging the last several years would be the maintenance fees :headache:

Marita - I really need to do something like that book with family recipes some day to give to my DD.

Nabbie - More Valentine's cookies for you since Nicholas didn't take his to school! :thumbsup2 I was near a Krispy Kreme and picked up some of those heart-shaped donuts that Twink mentioned :goodvibes

I have a three day weekend. Yay!!! :dance3:

Hey all. back from date number 2 for the day.
he's a really sweet guy, just not for me.
I feel bad though. :(
He brought me 3 roses and some ferrer rocher chocolates - on a first date! How great is that?

Date number one today went well. he and I felt like old friends, but there wasn't really a spark. I'll probably hang out with him just because it's easy.

twinks - I'm glad I amused someone besides myself! Happy giving birth day!
times two.

I hab a cobe in my nobe.
it is yucky.
I took some nyquil.
hopefully I'll be out soon.

Moo, I really had tons of fun with the cookbook. If you have Excel, I can send it to you as an example.
But so far tonight, I did nothing, just woke up from a nap, Congrats on the 3 day weekend, I'm jealous, no way I can even call in or just take a day off, too much stuff to do, GRRRRR!

Cel, dang about the dates, at least they were nice guys. Nothing you can do if there is no chemistry. Hope you feel better soon!
Nyquil is a gift from God in my opinion!

Oh regarding the unwanted wrinkle cream i posted about before: I told DH tonight about the free trial for only $2 shipping and missing the fine print about returning unused within 3 weeks tonight. He said, "well sometimes they send you stuff anyway every so often after that". I said "yes, but nothing so far, I think Im good" Not 30 minutes later the mail came with another package of $90 worth of creams. GRRRRRRRRRR! I decided to keep it for now, it seems to be good stuff, but I am NOT going to sign up for automatic shipments! But of course they were closed for the weekend when I called to cancel. I am NOT going to fall for those gimmmicks again! I should have known better in December when I ordered the first time, I have had this happen before, but I apparently lost my mind.

Hey thanks for the dry wishes, so far we are dry, cold, but dry.

Have a great night.

Jealous that you are hot over there MommyP. Just a tad.

Happy Valentine's Day!

DVC- I am brilliant at Disney math (and I did notice the correct parentheses Marita) but I can't make it work for us. I am well aware of how many points a largeish family like mine would need so that puts us in bank/borrow situation where we would go every three years however when you pay dues for 3 yrs and only go once it is the same as renting plus no buy in. I too kinda wish I had let the DH talk me into it in 2000 when the initial payment was only 7500$. Being grown up and responsible sometimes sure does stink. Although I am sure it would have been a burden most years with job changes, babiest etc.
Oh well. I don't think it is for me. While l love deluxes for my brood two rooms in a value works out really nice too.
However I see that whether or not it is a "good deal" depends a lot on your vacationing style. And your spendable income.

I am just fortunate that we have been so many times. People here on the prairie think we are crazy for going so much. :rolleyes1

The birthday party was fun. They made their own pizzas and decorated cupcakes. Seven little girls (and goldenchild) went through my entire stash of sprinkles. Oh well $25 worth of sugar on the floor is a relatively inexpensive birthday party.

The curse of the twinkies continues- someone has been sick every Sunday since the new year. The teenager just refused leftover cupcakes for breakfast, says he feels lousy but can't sleep. He felt a little bit warm so I sent him back to bed. I hope this doesn't turn into a stomach thing. Yikes. :guilty:

Nice quiet day in the Midwest here - we got a blanket of snow - and a promise of more to come next week!

DD sings in a solo and ensemble contest at noon - "Catch a Rising Star"

DS went to the doctor - he needs more medical treatment... *sigh... but he was cleared to drive - so he drove to see his gf - he got her flowers (Lilys and tulips) The World, an angelfish, and he's taking her ice skating and then dinner and a movie! (he appreciate all she's done for him!!)

DS #1 changed his phone number - :confused3 once a week ds - just call your mother!

Call a doctor! He's definitely sick!
Ha!
I hope it does not mean more beurking for you on the prairie - I think you've had enough lately!!

I still feel yucky!
I did sleep, but I want to take riley for a walk and just don't think I'm up to it.
argh.
which means lying in bed bored all day.

Snuggle up in a Snuggie! Matt Lauer even has is own. :) Or, if you are feeling really brave, turn your robe around backwards and wear it. Get to feeling well soon Cel

Here's Matt in his Snuggie:

Its going to be a crazy :wizard: valentine day prepping for our church/community dinner. :teleport:

Backstage, I was hoping to check out whose out there on E-Harmony to broaden Cel's options, that's it ;)

On a $$$ note. I saw some where that the US Gov't is hiring people to help take the 2010 census. If you might be interested, let me know and I'll try and find that link again.:thumbsup2

Happy Valentines Day, Moovers!

Sending get well wishes to Cel and the Twinkie household.

Cel, Can't you just Dis from your bed now with the wireless?

Twinks, the party sounds like it was lots of fun for the kids.

Sandy, good luck to your DD

Nothing planned here today. I need to catch up on work though.

Have a great day, everyone!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

cowflowers.gif

Waaaah! It snowed here again.

Goog thing I'm not planning to go anywhere today. I'm going to have a nice, boring day at home like Cel!

Twink - Yay for sprinkle parties! Hope your son feels better soon.

Lil Blue - I told a friend of mine who is struggling financially about the Census hiring. She has taken the test. I personally don't think I'd feel comfortable going into people's homes to collect the information, but I think there are other sorts of jobs they're probably hiring for.

Sandy - Your DS changed his phone number and didn't tell you??! My DD's cell doesn't get decent reception in her new place, so I'm missing our weekly calls.
