At this rate Marita you won't need an alarm to get you up for work on Monday...:lmao:

WANNA BET I OVERSLEEP ON MONDAY?:sad2:

Well it is a beautiful fall day here and there is Apple Feast going on downtown so I think I will make Nicholas get dressed and away from the video games. Then head on out for an apple dumpling and the craft tents.

Have a Great Saturday!!!

That sound like lots of fun, Nab!

I just cleaned out my closet for DD to send them to Haiti. Including an expensive, knit house suit, all white, with the GF logo and flowers emroidered on it. It was a going away gift 12 years ago, and I have never worn it. That should come in handy in Haiti.......

I made some slow cooked scrambled eggs with salt pork on crusty bread. It was GOOG! And I am ready for a nap now. But I just got a call that Nate the plumber is on his way to fix the water heater, and DH had to go to work, so I have to stay up for it :headache:

I'll even go so far as to post a picture, if you wish. As to your last question, I am guessing no, but I'll do my darndest to find out for ya.

Critter Update: Now there are 7 crayfish. When I get to school in the morning I always check on the crayfish and the hamster because if anything is dead I want to get it out of there before the kids arrive. Well, yesterday I forgot. So, of course, one of the crayfish (crayfishes?) was dead. It was actually the one with eggs, so there will be no little crayfish swimming around now. The kids of course totally FREAKED and mass chaos ensued. My favorite comment from the whole situation: "Miss Lauren, do you think she died in childbirth?" :rotfl:

Yesterday was also chaotic because I got yet another student. And then there were 29....
This woman walked into my room, handed me a little girl, and said "here, this is your student now. Oh, and she speaks no English." As in not a single word. Not even hello. NOTHING. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: The poor child was in tears all morning, with me hopelessly trying to communicate with her and calm her down. It was a bad scene. I can't even imagine being that child. She's only 8 years old. Here's why I love kids though. As I was trying to calm her down, she was speaking rapidly to me in Spanish. I was getting none of it. One of my other Spanish speaking children came up to me. He's fluent in English as well. He said, "she's asking you to please just hold her hand, and then she'll be okay." She wouldn't let go of my hand the whole day and she was holding it with a death grip. I so have no idea of how I am going to teach this child, but if she's supposed to be in my room, somehow, some way it will come together, right?

Marita...happy late anniversary! :cheer2: Maybe you'll get back to your normal sleeping tonight. I remember when I got back from Barcelona I was messed up for a couple of weeks. Don't you just hate that?

Lexi...the cave trip sounded exciting!

Nab...hope Hannah has a fun time at camp! I loved the story about Nicholas winning the costume contest. Too cute!

bbn ......

even though you didn't deserve that. See how nice I am?

Everyone else...Happy Saturday!!!

PJ, yikes on the crayfish croaking. So are you now going to have a whole lot of baby ones on your hands????????

What a sweet story about the little girl. I bet you will do just great teaching her

Nate the Plumber has arrived!!!

And now left! 1/2 leak fixed, new water heater on Monday.

Oh joy, just what everyone wants to spend money for!!!!!!!!!

Yikes, that just made me think. Do I have to take a cold shower??????????

GOOD MORNING!

Hound....What is the MToT meet? Are you flying out of Nashville or L'ville?

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Hi Melinda... its wonderfull outside today...the MTOT part (Mickey's Trick or Treat Party) is at DisneyLand and Its a party with advanced ticket purchase just like MNSSHP is at WDW just scaled down a bit...we are flying out of Nashville very early in the AM Friday..before I wake up  he he he ..... but i can sleep on the flight

PJ........I feel for the little girl in your room.......You dont have English as second language teachers there? We have quite a few up here in Maine...we had alot of people that needed freedom from Somolia and other countries.....they found peace here and we had to get a dozen or more teachers to teach these children...Most of the children are extremely bright and will go far after they learn our language....

my daughter is a teacher in a special school. It is for kids that cannot be mainstreamed yet in Public school system yet..Most are behavioral. Once in a while a child gets to go back to the public school system. Very hard teaching ....

Marita....To bad your hubby couldnt go to home depot or Lowes and get a water heater and put it in himself.........I think it wasn't to hard to do......My sister had to do that one year.....her husband was out of state working and he told her to go and buy it.......So she did......

Beautiful fall day in Maine today.....but dang cold......we had ice and frost on the grass this morning....in the 20's.......tonight back into the low thirties....we can do that .....will feel like a heat wave again....hahaha..

Nabbie - I slept in WAY later than you did!!! Guess I must have needed the rest ;)

Hope Hannah is having a great time. I'm sure she is since you didn't receive a call to pick her up!

Marita - Cold shower? BRRRRRRRRRRR. I would wash my hair in the sink and heat up some water on the stove or in the microwave for a sponge bath. Hope there's a nap in your near future!

Melindy - EEK! Those stairs sound scary. The only cave I've been in was the Lost Sea one in Tennessee and that was fortunately just a sloped walkway. When we went into the "sea" cavern and they turned out the lights, that was the darkest dark I've ever been in {shudder}

BH - Only six more days? YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Peej - :scared1: Yikes! I think I would rather deal with crayfish than this:

Sounds like you have a built-in interpreter for your new student. We have faith in your ability to help her :grouphug:

Pumba - I have a lot of admiration for teachers like your DD.

Marita....To bad your hubby couldnt go to home depot or Lowes and get a water heater and put it in himself.........I think it wasn't to hard to do......My sister had to do that one year.....her husband was out of state working and he told her to go and buy it.......So she did......

Pumba, Neither DH or I are up for that kind of work.! Gawd forbid a million times! (NO ZZub!)

Beautiful fall day in Maine today.....but dang cold......we had ice and frost on the grass this morning....in the 20's.......tonight back into the low thirties....we can do that .....will feel like a heat wave again....hahaha..
That actually sounds really good to me right now! Nice and cool and crisp. Mid 80's here now, which is beautiful, but for some reason that cold weather sounds good to me right now.

So I had my nap, a measely hour. I'm sure as soon as work hits, I will be behind the times again... I don't want to go to work again, WHAAAAA!!!!!:scared:

Those bugs look scary. They bring that stuff in when they have special science classes. I do not volunteer for those.

I bought a bag of Macintosh apples, an apple pie and a flower arrangement of dried apple for my MIL for Christmas. We walked so it was a handful coming home. It was a nice day with just Nicholas and I. :goodvibes He talked all the way there and back.

Of course at dinner we both said at the same time what do you think Hannah is having.

Marita-- does that mean you have no hot water at all. I would miss my morning shower that is for sure.

P.J.-- that is a lot of kids. We are not allowed to have over 22 in class for grades under 5. Hannah has 17 in hers and Nicholas has 24.

Pumba-- lots of sun here too but cold.

Nab and Moo, I still have hot water., WHEW!!!!!!!!!!! Guess the tank just leaks.

Moo, thanks lots for those pictures

Peej: I'd be looking for some How-to-learn-to-speak-spanish-fast! on line lessons. Good luck. I love your way of thinking of the grand sceme of things though.

How about bringing in some basic picture cards. That way she can show you a card if she has a basic need. Then both of you can put a word with it to kinda teach each other.

A picture of the bathroom-bano
A picture of the drinking fountain-agua
A picture of etc.....

Lexy: No worries. I'm no super star. I'm glad there are a few reading.

FAMILY DRAMA ALERT/VENTiNG

We spent the day in Yale for Zach's football game. My sister lives in Yale which is an hour away. After the game we all go back to her house. She has to work her night shift at the hospital and on her way she takes her boys to their dads as arranged and agreed upon between them.

He flips out on her as she is dropping them off. (I've been telling everyone for years he is Bi-Polar) One nephew is 8 and the other is 6. The 8 year old is oblivious to this behavior because he grew up with it and is accustomed to his father being an idiot. The 6 year old was 2 when my sister finally made him leave her (abusive and major big time CHEATER) The oldest just goes in the house and the younger one is clinging to her not wanting to stay. The idiot is yelling just take them with you. Call your boss and tell them you are not coming in. The idiots mom, who he now lives with is yelling the same thing out the door. My stupid EX idiot brother in law is screaming at the top of his lungs spewing swear words IN FRONT OF HIS KIDS and she just left with her youngest son.

As we are driving home, she calls us and asks my mom to come get my nephew from the hospital where she works.

It's times like this I wish natural selection would just do the world a favor.

My sister called the trashy girlfriend to see what prevoked his behavior and she says to my sister: We went to a birthday party today and everything was fine, maybe he just didn't get enough to drink.:sad2:  :scared:

Insert ALL the proper smilies here.

And my other nephew is still over there.

Because some stupid judge and lawyer made sure this idiot could have time with his kids. A man who was never home to be a part of their lives during the marriage. But now that my sister is with someone else, has to have them.

A man who lies about working so he doesn't have to pay child support. Drinks all the time. Cheated on his wife the entire time they were married. Was arrested 3 times for domestic abuse.

Who puts an above ground swimming pool in their basement???? WHO? My idiot brother in law. Lets the kids go swimming and leaves them in the basement alone! to swim. The baby was only 4.

He buys them motorized scooters, jimmy's the 4 year old's (at the time) with training wheels and says go have fun and leaves them unattended riding. The 4 year old runs into a rope chain blocking a driveway because he has no idea how to stop and gets a chain burn around his neck and the dad lies about how it happened. The 4 year old finally one day let it all out after the evidence faded.

I'm just mad!!!!!! Vent over.

Nab and Moo, I still have hot water., WHEW!!!!!!!!!!! Guess the tank just leaks.

Moo, thanks lots for those pictures
Glad you still have hot water, Marita! YW for the pics

Mony - Dang CLB (cheating, lying, b-word) ex-BIL :sad2:

Lil G - My, those Buckeyes really thrashed the Spartans today.

Yikes Mony!!!!

:scared1:

Good news, Crashdad got a new truck tonight. Shiny new red one!

He's like a little kid!

YAY for crashdad, Steph, what fun!! A new truck is certainly better than a new water heater....

Even a new washer and dryer is more fun, or even a vacuum or dishwasher or refridgerator! A new water heater not so much .....

So we are having a Halloween party at work on Monday (the big all resorts party, about 60 people). We are supposed to bring spooky things for lunch, and encouraged to dress up.

Anyway, I am looking for recipes online right now, mostly appetizers. Anything I like needs to be served hot, so that won't work. I am getting hungry just looking. I was thinking of deviled eggs and maybe trying some, but I am all out of eggs.... Oh well, maybe I will go without bringing food, HA! And I am certainly NOT dressing up!

OK, I gave up! There is bound to be something at the grocery store I can just buy!

ooh Marita, you could make ghostly cookies. But Nutter Butter sandwhich cookies, white amond bark (or white chocolate) and some black cake decorating gell to paint the eye holes and mouth.

These are super easy to make.

Ghost.jpg

does your deli have already to go veggie platters with a dip in the middle.....that is my kind of party giver.....hahaha.....ALTHOUGH the egg lady came and I can make you a few dozen deviled eggies......with red pimento for eye balls.

I really got the heebie jeebies when I saw those buggies......YUCK.....I hate to see spiders outdoors.....or daddy long legs in the house........It is the time of the year to check the shower area before I put my feet in.....Those creatures want to come in where it is warmer......Okey I am shivering....I usually yell Bug and Megara comes running and stomps it and then sniffs it up her nose by accident......then she sneezes it out and I pick it up with a tissue cause its dead .....hahaha...

Keep telling hubby if we have to move to Florida in the winters that we have to have a person come and debug the place.....ALL THE TIME.......My sister said she does it twice a year........but I would rather have a debugger come once a month to make sure that nothing lurks in the corners......I do not do bugs.......only moose, bear, and deer......:woohoo:

Brr it is cold this morning. Hope the sun warms it up a bit.

I have a busy morning. Have to go pick up Hannah from camp and get Nicholas to his baseball banquet. This would be so much easier if hubby was home.

Nicholas has to be there for 11:30 and Hannah is to be picked up at that time. The Banquet is with in walking distance of our house so I may have to let Nicholas get there by himself and meet up with him after. I hate to miss him getting his trophy but I can't leave Hannah at camp either. I think Nicholas would love to do this on his own and wouldn't have a problem it . More time to fool around with his baseball mates without me taking his fun away and I know the coach would tell them to knock it off if they got out of hand.

I really take my hat off to the single parents out there or people have to be both parents all the time because one is gone.

Better run or won't make it to either....:lmao:

Have a Great Sunday!!!

PJ, yikes on the crayfish croaking. So are you now going to have a whole lot of baby ones on your hands???????
Well, Marita, as I now know more about crayfish than a person could ever want to know from teaching the lessons, allow me to explain. Female crayfish have a structure underneath them called swimmerettes. These are like little criss crossed pieces on their bellies that hold fertilized eggs. Once the eggs are there, they fold their tails over the swimmerettes to protect them until they're ready to hatch. So, the whole crayfish, eggs and all, went in the garbage on Friday. No baby crayfish on their way.

We do have English as a second language teachers, but they just pull the kids out for an hour a day. This isn't my only ESL child, just my only one with NO English proficiency. The ESL teachers come by in the afternoon, take my ESL kids for an hour, and work with them on whatever they can't accomplish on their own. Usually they can do their math, but spelling, writing, etc., not so much. Obviously.

I admire your daughter. I have one child who is being reviewed right now to be transferred to a school for children with behavioral disorders, and I cannot even begin to imagine having a whole class of children like him. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Peej - :scared1: Yikes! I think I would rather deal with crayfish than this:
Moo, thank you for those lovely, lovely visual images of what is yet to come. Really makes me look forward to next week. I think they're arriving on Friday. They really don't freak me out much more than the crayfish, though. The crayfish to me are like bugs.

P.J.-- that is a lot of kids. We are not allowed to have over 22 in class for grades under 5. Hannah has 17 in hers and Nicholas has 24.
Max class size here is 24. Administration had until the 20th day of school to get our numbers straightened out. Obviously they didn't. I won't get into the details, but the union has been called and is involved in the situation. Within the next few weeks, the most I should end up with is 25. They can get away with putting you one over because they'll pay you extra, but 5 over...nope!

Peej: I'd be looking for some How-to-learn-to-speak-spanish-fast! on line lessons. Good luck. I love your way of thinking of the grand sceme of things though.

I do speak some Spanish. So, when she asks me to go to the bathroom and little things like that, I can pick it up. And if they speak very slowly, we communicate just fine. It was just that she was sobbing hysterically and speaking sooo fast. That's a good idea about the cards though, I like that. And I could write the spanish and the english for whatever the card is on there. :scratchin
Sorry about your family drama. He sounds like a real "gem."

ooh Marita, you could make ghostly cookies. But Nutter Butter sandwhich cookies, white amond bark (or white chocolate) and some black cake decorating gell to paint the eye holes and mouth.

These are super easy to make.

Ghost.jpg
Those are so cute!!!! I want my kids to make those. Can anyone think of a cookie I could use that wouldn't involve peanut butter? Stupid peanut allergies!

It's a beautiful Sunday here! I'm off to run errands and accomplish things. Have a great one!
