Marita you have two more days of not working enjoy them!!

Nicholas just got back from his dance. He didn't tell me any girl stories so that is good. He did win for best costume for boys. It was him and another boy the rest were girls that mostly dressed up. So he was pretty happy when he got home.

We let him take my cell phone because we had to drop him off before we actually saw him go in. We told him to call if he didn't get a ticket ( they have a weird set up for getting in) and wait for us to get back. Lots of parents around. We had to get Hannah to camp. He gives it back to me and he has changed the screen saver to a picture of himself tonight. I have only had the one that came with the camera...I love it.

BH-- are you packed yet? How long will it take to get to Disneyland by plane?

He wore hubby old suit from High School. It was funny too because he told Nicholas not to do any funny moves and split the pants or get them dirty. I told hubby what was he worried about he is not getting back into that suit anyway.I have been trying to get rid of that suit since we got married. Guess it was a good thing I didn't. He also has a really ugly brown one in the closet too.

Yes I miss Hannah, I will miss her more tomorrow morning when I get up I'm sure. She had no problem leaving me but I wanted to stay longer but of course they told us just to drop her off and go. She was pretty excited though.

Moo, rest up!

I was going to make a toast baked in the oven with creamy herb cheese I can only get in Germany. BUT I CAN'T FIND IT! Did I already eat it all? I dont know. I should have gotten more.

So I might make some scrambled eggs. Slow cooked
Funny, yhere was an article in the paper yesterday about slow cooking scrambled eggs. Is there any other way? You have to stir them slowly, lift them off the heat, so they stay soft. 1 1/2 tablespoons of milk per egg. and salt pork. One of my moms best ever recipes.

DD just went out at 11pm. I said to her "drive careful" Well. I always say that. She is a really good driver. But she said "I wont be driving" Which isnt makng me feel all that happy. Now I have to worry about some other kid driving! But she is almost 24, not too much I can say to her.

Chris is almost done with his flying lessons. He theatend me today with taking me on a small plane when (if) he gets his private pilot license sometime. He wont get that in the AF, though. Small airplanes scare me, they tend to CRASH!

Nabbie, old suit reminds me. Way back before we got married (38 years ago today) Hubby ordered this shark skin suit.DOnt know if any of you know what is. Basicall, very shiny fabric! DH loved it, I HATED it! It was the most awful thing evah! I dont know what happened to it. I think its long gone.
And DH wouldnt fit into it anymore anyway

Guess I was skimming more than I thought earlier tonight while we were watching a movie. We watched Baby Mama. I didn't realize that Steve Martin was in it. His hair (a wig, I'm sure) was pretty funky looking.

Marita - Do you have a pic of your hubby in his shiny suit?

Hmmmmm, I wonder if my hubby still has one of his Grandpa's leisure suits squirreled away somewhere.

I am scared about my work laptop that died. I have tons of files on there I shouldnt have (tax returns, pictures, etc).So should I try to get the files restored? if they can? The PC is dead as a doornail, no power whatever. So I want my files to save somewhere else, but im scared too. When they transfer files, you see everuuthing (titles) I think I might risk it though. I am so happy to have my own laptop now. Except when it will come to when I need help. It was always great to say, yes this is a workl PC. Otherwise they wouldnt be allowed to help me. So getting the work one back would be a great backup.

Marita, is there an IT person that you have worked with a bit previously? Maybe you can talk with them directly about seeing if they could save your files (e.g., onto a thumb drive) if anything can be restored.

We have an IT department guy who many coworkers go through to buy personal laptops/software from and get assistance with repairs on personal computers (he does this on the side during lunch or after hours and charges reasonable fees). Plus we have a couple computer geeks right in our office who are pretty savvy about such things. Hope you can get some help!

When mom's fried took me to the cemetary to visit my dad, we passed a sectiion that the friend and her broteher told me me would not be repoulated. Because it was built on swamp land. And the corpses there were not decomposing because they were swimmiing in water. How awful a thought is that???????????? Luckily, my dad is not in that section. and crap, it probably wont be too long before my mom is there too. :sAD:

Still, it give me jitters! I actually do a lot of work from home, so having the safety net of the IT dept would be great if I need it. I guess I need to bite the bullet and see what if anything they can do with my old one. Or give me a new one.

GOOD MORNING!

You guys were talkative yesterdee! Lots o' catching up to do.

Welp, my friend and I took the kids on a little day trip yesterday. We left at 9:00am and went to see My Old Kentucky Home, Lincoln's boyhood home, Lincoln's birthplace, and Mammoth Cave.

My mom had lunch with us at Cave City and then we drove out to the park for our tour....which I forgot was at 2:30 CENTRAL time so we had an hour to kill so we walked around the hotel and grounds a bit.

The tour was fun. Except the first part. We went in the "new entrance" where some idiotic property owner blasted an entrance to the cave on his property (in the 20's) so he could "give tours". We had to walk down a stairway that was almost 300 steps straight down a long narrow passageway (200ish ft down) and all the stairs were metal grate so you could see all the way down. We did see the Frozen Niagra formation and lots of cool "rooms".

We got stopped by the state police on the way home. I drive a station wagon with a third seat and we had the little boys in the third seat. The cop thought they were just sitting back there....unrestrained. When he saw they were buckled, he apologized and sent us on our way.

Side note: I slept really goog last night.

Marita....Happy Anniversary! My DH did not acknowledge our anniversary in any way last year. Next year is 20 years. If we make it. And you and DH were married for almost 10 years before you had kids? That's a long time! RE: computer....do you not have a personal computer at home? If not....get one!

NAB! Nicholas is kissing the 13 yr old girls at the church dances? It starts. Heh. RE: Hannah...it's been my experience that when you send your girls away to "camp", they are sad to go and can barely remember who you are when they return because they had so much fun!

YIKES, THAT WOULD BE A NIGHTMARE FOR ME, I have a fear of falling I had to go up about 50 steps while lost in the city, and youi could see the ground through the steps. It was not pretty!

Well it is a beautiful fall day here and there is Apple Feast going on downtown so I think I will make Nicholas get dressed and away from the video games.Then head on out for an apple dumpling and the craft tents.

Critter Update: Now there are 7 crayfish. When I get to school in the morning I always check on the crayfish and the hamster because if anything is dead I want to get it out of there before the kids arrive. Well, yesterday I forgot. So, of course, one of the crayfish (crayfishes?) was dead. It was actually the one with eggs, so there will be no little crayfish swimming around now. The kids of course totally FREAKED and mass chaos ensued. My favorite comment from the whole situation: "Miss Lauren, do you think she died in childbirth?"

Yesterday was also chaotic because I got yet another student. And then there were 29....
This woman walked into my room, handed me a little girl, and said "here, this is your student now. Oh, and she speaks no English." As in not a single word. Not even hello. NOTHING. The poor child was in tears all morning, with me hopelessly trying to communicate with her and calm her down. It was a bad scene. I can't even imagine being that child. She's only 8 years old. Here's why I love kids though. As I was trying to calm her down, she was speaking rapidly to me in Spanish. I was getting none of it. One of my other Spanish speaking children came up to me. He's fluent in English as well. He said, "she's asking you to please just hold her hand, and then she'll be okay." She wouldn't let go of my hand the whole day and she was holding it with a death grip. I so have no idea of how I am going to teach this child, but if she's supposed to be in my room, somehow, some way it will come together, right?

Marita...happy late anniversary! Maybe you'll get back to your normal sleeping tonight. I remember when I got back from Barcelona I was messed up for a couple of weeks. Don't you just hate that?

Lexi...the cave trip sounded exciting!

Nab...hope Hannah has a fun time at camp! I loved the story about Nicholas winning the costume contest. Too cute!
