Happy Anaversery Nab!

Congrats on your stellar and expected test scores PJ.

Rob- the rumors of your DISdeath have apparently been greatly exaggerated. WB.

Have a great trip Sandy!

I loved your German TR Marita! Glad you are home safe and sound.

Neat aquarium Allie. My imagination had not come up with semi-agressive fish as the reason for your mystery ;)

And now for the widely followed, back by popular demand SLING TALK I put on makeup, put my hair in a ponytail and went to church tonight with Lil G(grasshopper, not Grumpy) in the sling. I brought a camera so someone could capture the wonder of it all. But alas and alACK, my camera DIED. Again. I did recieve compliments on the sling from other mamas. I will attempt pictures again tomorrow. The sling worked great and was very comfortable. It was great to keep my sleepy baby with me instead of in the overfull nursery.

And now for the less popular HOME IMPROVEMENT update. After some experimentation I decided to faux finish the walls- I used a darker khacki (desert sand) and then overlaid it with some paint from the mistinted sale rack. It was labeled antique white but I agree with the original conusmer- it was a bit too yellow for that label but it still worked great for my purposes. I applied my finish with the patented ReddNeck sponge painting method (use crumpled up plastic bags from the Walmarts).

I must brag a little bit. The wall you see here was the one I totally destroyed by stripping the second and evile layer of wall paper. Notice my semi-professional mad skillz.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Seriously Twinks I may pee in my pants (as opposed to the pool, which we never do!!) YOU POSTED< and a pic, I scroll down looking for the sling (before reading, yah yah, watcha gonna do??)

WTH does a potty have to do with a sling/? WHERE IS THE SLING... carp now I have to go read... :rotfl2:

Thank you for the entertainment!!

Wait there was more entertainment.

Allie :scared1: There was a time, whenever I'd leave dh for a teacher convention, he'd buy an aquarium... btdt - and now the tank holder is a nice dining room sidebar - covered of course - with a table cloth... :rolleyes1

Marita you could take pictures of GERMANY - I mean, I may never get there.... you do read trip reports - you wrote a spectacular one - so just a pic of the bakery or the bakery bread would've had us drooling!!! You just want me to use my over active imagination on that 400 yard walk to the gastronmical pleasures... did you say you'd trade addictions??? *sigh, you just wait - I have to go on vacation, then I'm so joining Wendy's thread - but I'll just be a poor pathetic whiner... hungry, "please sir can I have another?" person!!

 my mom is still trying to give up her addiction to ciggerettes, once she went to a psych consult and they told her that to her cigs are her "friend" she just became more addicted... sad that. She's tried patches, gum, pills, hypnotists, ear piercings, cd's, but eventually she goes back to her "friend" the smoke... after all she doesnt want to live longer than my dad... sad that...

PJ I have a story for you... see DD was wondering why you would tell a 4yr old the goldfish died (Olsen twins Full House episode) and I remembered explaining that sometimes its good to give lil ones a background on death and dying for when (God forbid) it touches their lives... for example her friend died in 1st grade, but because of my grandma dying - she had 'background" and also when I told the 4yr old classroom, we had gerbils, and one died (he was loved to death - literally a boy squeezed the stuffins out of that gerbil) Well, I decided to hold a grief session, read two books, let the kids draw, and talk about their feelings, then we buried poor, dead "Candy" near the playground, near a tree...

Then a teacher died (and at 36, very traumatic that - in her sleep, 6am, her dh thought she was struggling to breath, an autopsy showed a heart problem who knew?) Well later I found out many of the kids(including my own DS!!) were convinced the teacher was buried under the tree that had her memorial plaque near it - love the sweetness that are kids!! :lovestruc

Hi Steph! You need some stiff drinks, I say, to help you over your cold.

Try a stiff Grog, Rum in hot water, and dont be bashfull with the rum! Add sugar if you HAVE to!

where's the butter and honey??? must have honey to help with teh cold - and a hot buttered rum is better than nyquil - trust me!! ;)

Ingredients
1 stick unsalted butter, softened
2 cups light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Pinch ground cloves
Pinch salt
Bottle dark rum
Boiling water
Directions
In a bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Refrigerate until almost firm. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture into 12 small mugs. Pour about 3 ounces of rum into each mug (filling about halfway). Top with boiling water (to fill the remaining half), stir well, and serve immediately.

YUMMM

darn it, twinks! I (like Sandy) was all excited to see a sling pic - only to be rick rolled with a toilet! :rotfl:

peej - how about sending your crayfish home with unsuspecting parents? :confused3

Anyway, I drank lots of beer, good, golden, foamy german beer while there. About 43 bottle, to be exact, LOL. Well, I didnt have much else to do. One of mom's few critismns(sp) came when mom found 4 bottle cooling in the fridge. "OH no, what will people say?" I.E, the friend who buys her food and puts it away (Gossip!). I said, MOM, it has to get cold, and that was that. I tried to hide it behind stuff after that, at least 2 bottles, and replaced one empty one with 1 new one to get cold.

Travel was very long and tiring. I waved to Sandy, and MOO (I saw Lansing on the airplane monitor) and NAB, we flew near Toronto.!
Marita, I'm so glad you got to indulge a bit during your vacation!!! :drinking1
Sorry the trip was so tiring, but it's kind of cool that you were within waving distance of us Northerners ;)

I loved reading your TR and I'm sure your DD will appreciate you getting the paperwork for her passport

Congrats on your son doing his first flight! We all knew he'd get through his training just fine :grouphug:

OK people...

I"m packed - hope my 21" x 14" x 9" suitcase measures to Uniteds 22x14x9 standard - otherwise we are down to carry on only!! :cool1:

I feel so selfish saying this, but I truly feel like the joy has been sucked right out of me - I hope to get my joy refilled in Disney!!
Yay for packing progress!!!!!!!!! I just know you will have a magical trip

I bet I could sell this lack of appetite on the diet market for millions of dollars!

Any takers? I need some motivation for quitting smoking and excercise in return though.
::yes:: I would pay goog money for your lack of appetite, Marita!

If I follow in Cel's footsteps, I will need an exercise buddy too. You can encourage me to lose weight and I'll help get you off smoking :)

bbn - BRILLIANT smilie usage!

:worship: I bow to the master!

Nabbie - Hope you and your hubby had a VERY HAPPY ANAVERSARY!!!!!!!!!!

That Hannah is such a little sweetie princess:

TWINK! Toadily mad painting skiilz!!!!!! Like Sandy, I was going . . . but where's the sling pic??! :confused3 :rotfl:

Allie - You have mad skilllllllz too! Hope your fish can sorta play nice though  At least it's not a piranha :rolleyes1

Peej - So are the crayfish fresh water or saltwater critters? Can't you just set them free in a crick somewhere?????

Moo, Kenny and I are likethis. Bff and all. We decided yesterday would be good timing for the release. Now if it had just been a good cd. I almost feel like a traitor saying that! But I didn't like his last cd that much and this one definitely didn't wow me. I want the old Kenny Chesney back!

4. Just fyi...just because you wish something happened doesn't mean it did.
KIDDING!

Okay, my mind is going to wander here, stay with me. My train of thought makes sense to me. So we have to teach these science kits. The lessons in them are really specific and come with all the materials. In conclusion, they're boring cookie cutter lessons and I hate them. I always Peej-ify them for my kids. ANYWAY, the most recent unit was on crayfish. So, I have 8 crayfish in my room. We started with 11. Don't ask the fate of the other 3. :rolleyes1 They're nasty, creepy, smelly, ugly little creatures and I more or less hate them. The unit concludes next week so they come to pick up the crayfish habitats. So, I asked what the heck I am supposed to do with the crayfish. They gave me a bag and said put them in here, then put them in the freezer for 3-4 days, then throw them in the dumpster. :scared: :scared: :scared:  Is that not disgusting? Am I a horrible person if I go through with the freezing of the crayfish??? Maybe I should start a poll on the CB. Heh.

1. Is there any other form of Kenny Chesney? I mean the guy is older than I am!

2. Hey! And I noticed you didn't answer my question about discussing cereal either!

3. (not visible above because you can't quote images or some such nonsense) I ALWAYS LOL (for reals) at a well-done BBN post.

4. Don't you have a southern connection that you can hook up with your crawfish? Or try one of these yourself: crawfish boil, crawfish stew, crawfish etoufee, crawfish salad, crawfish remoulade, crawfish shortcake.

Rob- the rumors of your DISdeath have apparently been greatly exaggerated. WB.

That's what I said! Thanks Twink.

Your walls look great. Of course, I'd really love to see down lower between your toilet and the wall -- that's the spot that's always really fun to get to if you don't pull the whole freakin' toilet out!

-- Rob

Welcome bck, ROB! Im happy you death was greatl exgaggerated!

BH, dancing with you:woohoo::woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Dang, my body is messed up, it's 3:20am and I just woke up again! Good thing I dont have to work tomorrow.

Hi Lexi, I woke up before you, does this count? I did go to bed first, honestly! Friggin Jet Lag!

But then, I will probably go to bed again.. YAWWWNNN!!!!!!!!!!

Yawning makes your ears pop on airplanes, just sayin .............

GOOD MORNING!

It's fall break here....if that's what you call two days off school. I still have to make DS's lunch since Emily "forgets" to feed him sometimes. If his lunch is ready, he can eat whenever he wants.

Tomorrow I have taken off work so my friend and I can take the kids to Mammoth Cave. Now her husband has decided to go! Which means I get the pleasure of riding in the back seat with the kids for four hours. I'd rather be at work.

Marita....Lovely trip report. I was to go to Germany! Crusty bread and beer sound goog. And that so sounds like me on the train. Now go back to bed.

Peej....Cute kids humor. :scared:

Sandy.....Have fun on your trip!!! :wave2:

Twinkie
....Beautiful bathroom wall, woman! Amazing!

Allie
....Aggressive fish! :scared1:

Pumba....You must be the best grandmother in the world. You are always watching those kids.

Celery, Moo, Lynette (where's Lynette?), Mommy P, Nabbie, Wendee....:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Twinkie - That was so wrong. I can't believe you fooled us all like that. But the paint job looks nice anyway.

I agree with whoever it was that said Marita needs to post pictures of Germany for those of us that are never going to make it there.

We went hiking yesterday. Who knew that just 10 minutes away there was a park with 3 different hiking trails? We pass the thing every week when we go to church and for years we've been like,"What's a mitigation park?" So I went online yesterday to find out and alas, hiking trails, fishing pier fire ring :confused3 , picnicking. Well I was skeptical because from my experience Florida "hiking trails" are something you can usually bring a stroller on. Boring. It started out like that then we crossed the bridge over the creek and the trail almost disappeared. It was wide enough to walk in a single file line and sometimes it was hard to tell which was it went because it was so dense and overgrown. No one had walked that thing in forever. Probably because everyone is thinking the same thing,"What the heck is a mitigation park". :rotfl: At one point there was like a little stream, although not, just rain water run off that was down a little hill(ditch) we had to jump over it because it was probably like 10 inches deep. Super fun! The trail we took did open up into the palmettos and pines to a wide dirt path but it was fun to try and identify all the animal tracks.

Some of the animals the staff had seen this week were boar, coyote and foxes. We saw fire ants.

No special plans today.

Lexi. yikes on 4 hours in the car! You are a glutton for punishment! I love your morning posts!

MommyP, sorrry, no pics from Germany. The hike sounds like fun! We had beautiful fall weather though!

I'm up AGAIN! After what, 4 hours????? My body timer is all messed up!

I need to do some laundry today, oh joy! :laundy:

Have a great day everyone!

BH, dancing with you:woohoo::woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Dang, my body is messed up, it's 3:20am and I just woke up again! Good thing I dont have to work tomorrow.

Hi Hi Marita...thanks for joining in my dance...I hope you get back to your regular routine soon.....maybe this long weekend will help.

BobInLittleCK: I was very tempted NOT to use that smiley. just sayin'. heh

Moo: I could get used to this "bowing to the master" stuff. heh again.

Marita: Have a beer and relax. The laundry can wait.

Twink: I am impressed with your madd skillz. Feel free to come home with The dh and redecorate our bathrooms too. "Tut, tut looks like rain" :umbrella:

PEEJ: whatever major loser

Allie: Aquariums are very relaxing. I bet you will enjoy yours.

BH and Sandy: Did I miss Sandy? Bon Voyage.

Cel: I laughed at the ric rolled toilet thing too. hee hee

Pumba: nice to hear from you!

EVERYBODY ELSE: Have a magical freakin day. duh.

heck, I am not the best gramma in the world.........but I love having them come and visit and if DIL is going to go shopping .....I say..let her or them stay here.....I love having them here........These two are our youngest......kaitlynn and Zachary are our two oldest......This past Monday we took our granddaughters futon back to college as she now has room for it......Being an RA gives her a private room and lots of space........Hope she enjoys this experience.......free room and board for each year is a good incentive..

Its raining out and I hate RAIN...but I may stay in my jammies all day....last night I didnt feel all that great and went to bed early too....

I do feel good today....but just lazy....could be the time of the year, or the rain or just because I can be lazy......

wonder what to make for supper, or do I feel (yucky) good enough to eat out ...as we do each Thursday...?? Will thnk it over.....

Hope you all have a great day and I will be checking up on all of you.

Pumba, hoW about a nice beef stew for a rainy day, with dumplings? Heck, I might make that myself today,hmmm..........

Or go eat out, less work!

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Seriously Twinks I may pee in my pants (as opposed to the pool, which we never do!!) YOU POSTED< and a pic, I scroll down looking for the sling (before reading, yah yah, watcha gonna do??)

Haha! all part of my plan to make you actually read my dreck-n-drivel.

darn it, twinks! I (like Sandy) was all excited to see a sling pic - only to be rick rolled with a toilet! :rotfl:

:rotfl: at the rickroll comment

TWINK! Toadily mad painting skiilz!!!!!! Like Sandy, I was going . . . but where's the sling pic??! :confused3 :rotfl:
Thank you!

1. Pulling the whole freakin' toilet out is so far beyond my skill set it isn't even funny.
2. The area you mentioned does look a might big amateurish- but due to the faux finish and the lack of decent light in the bathroom you would really have to get down on your knees with a flashlight to notice.
3. If anyone is ever down on their knees in my bathroom with a flashlight to critique my painting skillz, then they are not welcome at my house. How much you want to bet my FIL does just that over Thanksgiving??

Twinkie
....Beautiful bathroom wall, woman! Amazing!
1. I might forget to feed my children sometimes (I operate on the theory if I am hungry, everyone is hungry, if I am not, no one is) but they have mastered the fine art of dramatically reminding me by clutching their midsection and proclaiming "I soooooo huuuuuuuuungry." "I starving" "Is it snack time Yeeeeeeeeeet?"
2. I would bow out of that outing. Maybe a work emergency?
3. Thanks!

Twinkie - That was so wrong. I can't believe you fooled us all like that. But the paint job looks nice anyway.

1. Thanks for the nice comments about the paint. Sling pictures are coming. Hopefully this afternoon.

2. :rotfl: at your description of your trip to the Mitigation Park and your wildlife encounter

3. Have a good day :)

PEEJ: whatever major loser

1. Thank you!

2. Wait a minute! Did the Peej join the army? get a promotion? How come she is Major Loser and I am still Loser, First Class.

Fall break here too. I have to go discuss my brilliant children with the teachers so fortunate as to have them in their classes.

Have a great trip everyone who is taking one!princess: Have fun doing laundry to everyone who is battling that dragon.:laundy:
