I have one JUST like that! :cutie: (not Shirley Temple quality, but kinda cute)

That's great. You're lucky. Having a child like that must be fun. :) I sure wish I had a video of that little girl. I bet the video would win a prize. I grin every time I see her in my mind. I'm a bad guess of age, being baby illiterate, but somewhere between two and three.

I miss VBS! Growing up, this one neighbor did one in her home and really went all out! If we are in any way blessed or rewarded for our extra effort, she will be richly blessed.

All I can remember is for the songs that she made clever "visual aids" to help us learn them. She did cute detailed flannel board stories (of course I noticed this extra effort!), themed snacks and take home treats/goodie bags. I also remember painting a set of "prayer hands" (my mom still has) and doing a paper mache piggie bank for offerings. Oh! And at the end, she presented us with a little cute kids New Testament. :lovestruc

The thing that sticks out in my mind most about her is she wasn't a rich woman, so I know now this must have been a financial hardship to her. But she truly loved doing this for the neighborhood kids. (ACK! I just got all choked up :cool2: Must be allergies)

That's really nice. How wonderful that she took the time and effort to do that, and I'm sure she would feel amply rewarded simply to know that it left such an impression on you and other children.

Growing up, the little country church I went to always had VBS and it was great fun. We had lessons and crafts, learned songs and Bible verses, and did outdoor activities and games. I remember one popular outdoor game called "Prisioner's Goal" that was a church favorite. Fun!

Heyyyy, I need to go shopping for you, Birthday Girl!!!!

Give me a few minutes. I need to put on my smarty pants...

Awww, you're always so nice! :lovestruc

Hello, Moovers. I took a spur of the moment trip to Ohio this weekend. Strange, I know. It's a long story, but it was way too hard to find an apartment in Kentucky from Orlando. My dad offered me his frequent flier miles, so the flight cost me nothing and I found a place to live that I really like. :)

Also, my high school bff who I lost touch with just accepted a job in the same school district as me. What are the odds? I was really glad to find that out (thanks to facebook). I haven't talked to her in about 2 years.

I'm currently slacking and taking the night off. Surely I didn't need that money, right?

HAPPY
BIRTHDAY, KAY!!!!

Now if I only had some dessert I would be golden. I may be a picky eater, but when it comes to dessert, I rarely discriminate. And there is nothing sweet in this house. HELLLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PJ,

Congrats on finding a place to live so quickly! I'm surprised you were able to book a flight short notice with frequent flier miles; that worked out great.

Thanks for the beautiful birthday greeting. :)

As for something sweet, hmmmm. If desperation sets in maybe you could make some muffins or a pudding or something?

Umm, YES! Why did you fly to Ohio to find an apartment in Kentucky? :confused3

WOOHOOO, that should make the transition easier! :dance3:

We missed you around here. Dang summer, people take vacations and have a life and stuff! (well, not me, I just work my astarstar off during the summer on budgets). But we had a short season this year, and I think it's mostly over, and it's only mid-July. Used to drag out till August or September.

Kay, wow, that is some garding you have going on, I'm impressed!

We (the office crew) went out to lunch today for mine and knitfreaks birthdays last week (Olive Garden, out of pocket, but the boss pays for the birthday people). This one guy from the other resort in the region is a real electronics freak. He got a new Apple I-phone this weekend (got in line at 3 am), and spent the ENTIRE TIME playing with it. Even while eating his lunch !!!
One really cool feature though, he programmed in some quest for restaurants in the area for a certain price range, and it came up with a screen like a slot machine (3x3 panels). He shook it, it went around like a slot machine and landed on a restaurant. That is how they picked where they were going last Friday (when I was off)

Sandy, so glad you family affair went well, woohoo!

Pumba, dang on having to wait longer on new glasses. I now can no longer see well with even my drugstore glasses, but funnily (is that a word) I see better without any glasses. It's really weird.

It did work out really well. I had to pay like an $80ish fee since I booked it so late, but I convinced my dad to pay that, too. What can I say, I'm persuasive.

Hollywood and I are going to Dairy Queen. Except I wasn't speaking to her (long story). So this could be an awkward trip to DQ. Oh well, it's worth it for ice cream, right???!

You snuck in on me, Marita. I'm a very confusing person. I flew into Ohio (Cincinnati) because that is where my family is so they could pick me up at the airport and then I could stay at home and not have to pay for a hotel or anything. Then we just drove down to Kentucky to apartment hunt the next morning.

Marita......right before I was told I had to have the eyes done.......I told the doc that I could see better without my glasses then I have in years......he said that the cataract made the distortion in the eyes and it is called phantom second sight......worked for me ......I thought I was all better.....oh well....I can wait patiently.....but I will be glad to get up close and personal with this computer and my new books.......

WOW, phantom second sight? Que whatever that melody is for TOT (escapes me right now). WOnder how long I can keep it?

What really ticks me off is that I just paid $118 (after insurance) for new glasses and they don't work at all!!!!!!!

ETA: Oh yes, "Twilight Zone"
Why is it phantom if you can actually see better???????? Just temporary?
And how long does that last? Actually, I think my long distance vision is getting worse, not bad really, except in certain lighting situations things look fuzzy.

It sucks to get old!!!

Oh no we have chocolate again.....:lmao:

P.J.-- glad you found somewhere to live while teaching in Kentucky. When does school start in that area?

Busy day...just got back from our ball game. The team did great. We only have one team above us now and three games until the play offs.

Speaking of Baseball where oh where is Rob? Did he desert us. :confused3

Oh no we have chocolate again.....:lmao:

Nab, love the curtains!!!!!!!

And, Hey, I did read and loved your one and only trip report, I recommend it to all.
I even read it before I knew you. Hey, I don't have to put the "knew" in quotations marks, since we actually DID meet.

Wow, Hannah looks so small in that pic! And she is such pretty little girl!
Can't really tell from that pic, but I have seen her in all her princess glory!

Lynt and WT vacation weather update:

Despite forecasts, no rains to speak of today, so they should be fine!

Maybe I should have stood in front of that trailer so I could I look small too!!:lmao:

Hannah actually is growing like a weed. We are going to the water park tomorrow and she wanted to get measured to make sure she could go on the slides. You have to be 48 inches and she is 49 now. She grow a 1/2 inch since her birthday in May !! Thanks for saying she is pretty , I think she is pretty cute myself. :goodvibes

How has the weather been today for our vacationers Marita?

I am beat.

I'm gonna finish this glass of wine.

and finish catching up on my threads and call it a night.
