BH Where do you find all the fantastic graphics? They're great!

Sandy Glad to hear the family situation basically had a happy ending and everyone is getting along and having a good time together now.

NAB I am enjoying all your household projects. We need to sign you up for a HGTV home remodeling/redecorating feature show so we can get a better look at all your changes.

Pumba Good luck at the eye doctor's today. I hope you're all set now and can get your new glasses.

Hi everbody else!

Allie -- you are posting so your computer is just fine. :thumbsup2 How has your summer been going?

Kay-- the curtains are still my kitchen, it will be the finishing touch. I just hope I made the right choice...:lmao:

My kitchen guy didn't come until 8:35, I could have slept another hour. And then they still have to come back maybe Wed. to change some hinges on the pantry doors so they don't hit the bulk head.....Hubby will think this is great because until it is done the money stays in the account longer. :thumbsup2

Curtain guy is suppose to be here at 11:30 see if he is on time.

I actually got the kids cleaning their rooms for the first time this summer. They are actually doing it with out a fuss , wonder what they want.....

Actually, I am in a baking/cooking kind of mood. I guess b/c we have so much coming up in our garden and it tastes soooooo much better than the stuff you buy at the grocery.

Last night, I made a ham with corn on the cob, fried zucchini, carrots, and sliced up some tomatoes and green peppers. All of the veggies came from the garden and I will admit it tasted pretty darn good. Do any of the rest of you guys grow your own stuff? It's a lot of work, but you know me, if it's about good food, I'm willing to sacrifice.

I think I'm going to make a blackberry cobbler tonight. Just another reason, I love summer.

:wave2: to the whole gang. Be well.

What Time is supper? lol

Emily and I watched An Ideal Husband last night. If you like Oscar Wilde comedy then definitely rent it. I wish I had The Importance of Being Earnest here too. I just love Rupert Everett.
Wendee....I only talk sports if I have an interest in the team or player...so in other words...it's rare. ;)

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” - Philippians 2:9-11[/I]

1.)An Ideal Husband, eh? MUST get me one of those! (The movie too ;))

Which version did you rent?

2.)Ohhh thank goonness you don't talk sports too often!

3.) Don't know if you realize, I appreciate the weekly scriptures you include in your posts. I just didn't want your efforts to go un-thanked!

What is the Ideal Husband about? :lmao:
Now you'll be sorry you asked....

Another of Wilde's social satires, 'An Ideal Husband' revolves around the lives of two men, successful political figure Sir Robert Chiltern (Jeremy Northam) and his friend the uninspired but utterly charming Lord Arthur Goring (Rupert Everett). Chiltern's life is perfect thanks to the help of his loving and brilliant wife Gerturde (Cate Blanchett) and the support of his quick witted sister Mabel (Minnie Driver). Goring's life is one of lounging, flirting with Mabel, and avoiding his father's instance that he should marry. The world of these men is turned upside down by the arrival of old acquaintance Mrs. Laura Cheveley (Julianne Moore) who has come with blackmail in mind.

My favorite Lord Goring quotes:

To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.

Fashion is what one wears oneself. What is unfashionable is what other people wear. Other people are quite dreadful. The only possible society is oneself.

We are going to Myrtle Beach. We've never been there, and I'm pretty excited about getting to be by the ocean, swim some, and lay around with a book and relax.

We are between Buffalo and Rochester, so are about an hour from the nearest Finger Lakes. It's a beautiful area, and the region produces some excellent wines. When we bought our current land we started a small vineyard at the other end of our acreage. The vines are starting to take off this year, and many have some sizeable clusters of grapes for the first time. We also have lots of berries from strawberries to elderberries, currants etc. and have been making berry wines for a few years. The currant and elderberry wines have gotten high praise from our friends who have tried it.

I am fearfully/joyfully anticipating being a Grandmother. I am "baby illiterate" so am more comfortable when the baby gets past the newborn stage to a size that I feel less likely I'll break it. :rotfl: Thank goodness I can come here for advice and guidance. :)

What ever advice you need I am here.

I love babys and wine. But not at the same time. But boy do I sometimes imagine it.

Happy Birthday Kay, I hope it's simply wonderful for you.

I used to grow gardens when my life was less complicated. And every year I want to still try and then before I know it, its too late. I'm 'green' with envy.

Oh, dah, Dr. just ordered an MRI and some x-rays. That's on Thursday. Then in 2 weeks I go back to find out what's going on.

Smidgy, great to see you over here. Hope you stop by often, this is a great bunch of people. Plus you already know several people here, so it's not all new to you.

aldisneygrl Thanks for the cake. I wish I was 29 instead of 53!

Monica I will remember your advice that it is best not to mix wine and babies. :lmao:

BBN Thanks for the birthday greeting. We have a garden, at least last I checked, and hopefully the woodchucks haven't eaten everything in the last few days. So far we have beans, corn, lettuce and such but corn, cauliflower, pumpkins, squash etc. are on the way. Blackberry cobler sounds sooooo good. Don't tempt me with talk of dessert when I'm on my pre-vacation starvation diet. ;) My birthday lunch consisted of a bowl of conch chowder and half of my oriental chicken wrap, and a small salad. I'm saving the other half of the wrap for tomorrow's lunch. I guess I have shrunk my stomach!

I read the first few pages and the last and well, that's it.

I did see that Cel is smokin' hot! Awesome!

This is VBS week. I am exhausted. I'm teaching 1st and 2nd graders. My church has super boring VBS's. I wouldn't want to go if I was a kid. We have class time, lesson time(which is the Pilgram's Progress in the form of a play) class time, snack time and then class time. For all that class time the kids have 3 tiny pages to do in a workbook, that my 5 year old could do. I don't think I'll be teaching next year. lol. Soooooo boring.

Gotta go fix dinner.

Sis Wow, what a beautiful graphic. You guys find so much really cool stuff! Thanks! It has been a good day so far. Lowell deserted me tonight for an auction. He said he was only going to leave some bids and then come home for supper, but I wondered if it would turn out that way. Sure enough, he called and said everything was junk and he was on his way home. Time to make dinner. :)

Hi MommyP! Your comments remind me of something I have to share.

Our church just finished up VBS last week. We had a special service on Sunday where the kids got up and showed some of what they learned and it was really cute. I'm not sure where the church get's it's programs. They played a music video about kids serving in God's back yard. Our kids had choreographed motions that matched the kids on the video (not quite dancing but pretty close) and they sang along with the video, too. It was SOOO cute. After the program was mostly over, there was just music, and they were showing a photo montage (sp?) of various kids doing activities during VBS. All of the kids had returned to their seats and were watching the photos, or so I thought. I was watching the screen when Lowell started laughing. I didn't know what he was laughing at till he drew my attention to the stage. One little curly haired girl, about three years old, had come back onto the stage alone and she was dancing and doing the motions again that went with the music. She was SOOO funny and cute it was unbelieveable. A lot of the older kids and teens were sitting in the front pews, so they started encouraging her all the more by clapping and doing the motions along with her from their seats. That only spurred her on to new heights of dancing/motions skillz. She wasn't the least bit shy or self-conscious and she was just having the time of her life performing. I will never forget that scene. It has to be one of the cutest things I have ever seen. Shirley Temple has nothing on this kid. I don't even know whose daughter she is, but I would love to meet the parents.

well.......no new glasses yet.....have to go back on Thursday pm cause my pressure is up in both eyes......he said that the steroid probably is doing it but oh well...I have had to do glaucoma drops for the last ten or so years so a few more wont hurt....but he is hoping that the pressure will drop and I will be off the meds for a while.......They gave me two new drops to do.....one to lower the pressure and one is an anti imflamtory and took the predisone drops away..

We had a fast supper.....one pound of hamburg works wonders.......we had american chop suey....hamburg, cut up tomatoes and juices and mushrooms and then mix it up with macaroni......not bad and REALLY FAST

I have one JUST like that! :cutie: (not Shirley Temple quality, but kinda cute)

I miss VBS! Growing up, this one neighbor did one in her home and really went all out! If we are in any way blessed or rewarded for our extra effort, she will be richly blessed.

All I can remember is for the songs that she made clever "visual aids" to help us learn them. She did cute detailed flannel board stories (of course I noticed this extra effort!), themed snacks and take home treats/goodie bags. I also remember painting a set of "prayer hands" (my mom still has) and doing a paper mache piggie bank for offerings. Oh! And at the end, she presented us with a little cute kids New Testament. :lovestruc

The thing that sticks out in my mind most about her is she wasn't a rich woman, so I know now this must have been a financial hardship to her. But she truly loved doing this for the neighborhood kids. (ACK! I just got all choked up :cool2: Must be allergies)

Heyyyy, I need to go shopping for you, Birthday Girl!!!!

Give me a few minutes. I need to put on my smarty pants...
