Lexi, Dennis Felton is one of us, a Hilltopper, and gotta go with our guy. And I cheered for FS, just pointing out their coach nearly choked last night. Then did the same thing this morning. If he does it tonight, Butler(my high school's most bitter rival) will beat them. But I hope he learned his lesson. Or at least the girls can overcome him.
Moo- It was much worse than the sports guys made it look. The later film and reports showed how bad it was.
Time to go cheer Lexi's alma mater on to a state championship. Cya, Moovers.

YAY! They made it to the championship game!?! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

GO, CATS!

Thanks for cheering on my behalf, DTD! I'm sure there will be plenty of folks from Franklin there too!

I jus t dragged (drug?) myself out of bed long enough to retrieve my laptop and get back in. I feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck. Once again. My doctor's office was closed so I went' to the place on campus where I had to pay a $30 copay instead of my normal $10 one. Anyway, it's strep throat. Again. During the test I had chills running up and down my body and my head was just pounding. I honestly don't know if I passed it. I just want to cry beause I hurt so bad. The fever and the chills really aren't working for me. I'm laying in my bed with a quilt, a down comforter, flannel pajamas, my winter coat, and my space heateer going full blast. I need a mom. :sad1: Question: how do you go to bed feeling more or less fine and wake up wanting to die? Posthaste, someone say somethign Pollyanna!

I am finished.....exhausted......but always happy with family for dinner......we had a good turkey dinner with stuffing ......love the smell......YUMMY

Daugher in law asked ....okey ma how many veggies.......I always do alot of veggies ...five this time......and then two gravys .....one is vegetarian that I make for son in law and one is greasy turkey gravy for the rest of us.....also did vegetarian stuffing and it was no wheres near the bird....he had a baked potato and we had mashed.....strawberry short cake and chocolate cream pie for dessert.......so one dish washer load done and one to go......

Hope that Marita is having a great time.....her time will be done fast......

Sorry, this is so late coming, but the DIS has been not letting me in, and I had two kids who had projects due on Friday, and one computer. :scared: Why, oh why do teachers assign projects that are due the Friday before Spring Break? :confused3

Now to the TR:

Well, we had had many discussions with previous friends (and their parents) about which testing place to go to, and what time to go. We live within 25 minutes of three. The biggest one is the furtherest and has the least amount of parking, but had the potential for the most toothless folks. Well, we decided for the smaller testing facility, closer to home. Sorry Moo. It was decided that we should go later in the afternoon, after the recommendation of a parent at church. We had been told beforehand that they only have 15 numbers to pass out for the morning and the afternoon. That shows you how small a town it is. ;) Well we got there on Monday afternoon at 2:45. Well No Numbers, and no note to say what to do. We stuck our head in the door, and got no response from the State Patrol woman. So we decided to sit down and converse with the others waiting. They said that there were no more numbers for the day. We sat there a little longer trying to decide what to do. Then SPW (state patrol woman) came out with a note and hung in on the numbers hook that said, "no more numbers for today". Well, CARP, what to do now. I had a very disappointed looking 15 year old looking at me. I told him that we could drive down to the next town, and try there. Then I realized that I was on empty. When you have an SUV, you sure don't want to run out of gas. Well, the road we had to travel on had NO gas stations or anything on it. :scared1: We finally found one and it had the most expensive gas in town. :headache: Well, we got our gas and headed on to our next place to get the ever elusive driver's permit.

Well, we got to where we thought we were supposed to go. We got out and started walking and realized the building said City Hall, and we were supposed to be at the courthouse. We asked a nice lady in the parking lot, and she pointed us to the building next door, that had NO parking places. Well, GOD was smiling on us because someone was getting in their car as we pulled up. I sent DS on in, to get in line. Once I got parked and went inside, and through the metal detector, we got inside the office, and looked at the ticket machine.................NOTHING!! We asked a guy sitting there and he said that they took up the tickets at 3:30. I looked at my watch and it was 3:35! Now, I really had a disappointed boy on my hands. :sad2:

Well, we decided to have a plan B. We would do what my coworker did, get to the place at 6:30 AM the next morning. Well, luckily it was raining, so none of the 16 year olds would be able to take their road test. When we got to the parking lot. There was already one car there waiting. We had heard that they opened the doors at 7:15 for you to grab one of the 15 numbers. Well, cars started pulling in around 7:00. I told DS we needed to be ready to sprint to the door. I saw an "official looking" truck pull up and park in a special parking space, and go around to the left of the building. I told DS that that was prolly the person who was gonna open the doors. Well, right about then a car pulled up to our left, and older gentleman got out of the car walked right up to the building and got in. WHAT???? Well, DS and I bolted to the door, and asked if we were allowed in. We took an immediate left and grabbed............. #2!!!!:yay: :yay: Now we just had to wait until 8:00 for the SPW to show up, and get things rolling. Well, we felt bad that we got ahead of the lady who was already parked there when we got there. I guess we were line cutters. :guilty: Luckily, she and her daughter got #3. There was a character of a guy sitting next to us for a little while. He was a real talker, KWIM;) ? He had a very cute two year old daughter he had brought with him. I didn't get a good look at his teeth because I was too busy looking at his tattoos and body piercings. :rolleyes1 Luckily, the lady and her daughter (who we cut in front of) we very nice to us, and we found out that her DD and my DS were born a day apart in Atlanta. How crazy is that? I just love coincidences like that.

Well, DS got in to take his test by 8:10. Well, I got a text message about 5 minutes later, that said "I passed, it was easy!" :lmao: I find that funny 'cause he was on the other side of the wall and he felt that he had to text me. Wow how far have our kids come with technology. Well, he came out to get me because it was time to pay. Do you remember our deal? If he passed, I paid, if he failed, he paid. Well, I had already paid for the test, now it was time to pay for the license. I look in my nice folder, that was holding the birth certificate, SS card, school verification, and cash. Well, I look, and NO CASH!!! :scared1: What???? I just had it less than 10 minutes ago, where did it go? I couldn't find it anywhere. The SPW even looked in her trash can to see if it had fallen in there. :sad2: Well, DS ended up bailing his poor cash losin' mama out. :thumbsup2 I promised him that I would pay him back. ::yes:: I tried to get him to smile for his photo op, but to no avail. He is stuck with a crazy look on his face for a whole year! :lmao: I reassured him that nobody's pic. looks good on their license. BTW, the girl that was born the day after him, passed too. :thumbsup2

Well, when we got out to the car, I had promised him that we would stop and get some breakfast before taking him to school. When I got in the car, I found the money wadded up in the middle of my purse. WHEW! I must have stuck it in there during the rush to get out while he answered his questions on the DMV test taking screen. There was a Hardee's not too far from the testing place, so we stopped there for breakfast, but guess what?? Yes, I lost my breakfast money too!!!! :scared: We were looking everywhere for it. I finally found it, and we went in and ordered breakfast. I think I was more nervous about him passing than he was. I think that is obvious by my constant losing of my money. Well, his reward for passing was that he got to stay home from school that day. It counted as a legal day, so it was an excused absence. I figured that was the least I could do since he had to wait an extra day to get his permit. I was considered the BEST MOM for a day!

Thanks for indulging me by reading this little report. I hoped you enjoyed it, and I hoped it caused you to chuckle, even if it was at my expense. ;)

oh I am sorry you are sick......keep taking some tylenol or whatever it is .....and I looked like a street lady with all my clothes on me when I was sick..every bit to make me warm..even red socks with my blue sweats and nighty and sweatshirt and flannel housecoat and more on top of that..
Stay in bed and take your meds......did they give you a Zpack.....that made me feel better when I had strep and when I had sinus infection.

Keep drinking and try to eat something...otherwise you will feel weaker then you should......this is Mother Marie talking......hahaha

P.J.-- you poor thing. Strep again. Stay warm and rest, drink lots of fluids, take your meds.

Pumba-- 5 veggies. And making a special vegetarian meal. What a great Mother in law you are.

Ally--great mini trip report. :yay: on your son getting his permit and you finding your lost money. I have 6 more years before I have to do any of that.

Oh my, DTD! Had to look and see what you meant by the Georgia Dome getting hit.

Scary!!!

Yes it was! Have I told you that I am from Atlanta(meaning I grew up there)? My parents still live there, and the kids and I are going next week for Spring Break. That roof is nothing more than a big tarp, IMO. I am amazed that it stayed together as well as it did, or it could have been disastrous.

I talked to mom again today, and they got pummeled again today. At one point she said the radar was Black. That is the color they go to after they have gone through, yellow, orange red, pink, etc. to indicate that it is SEVERE!

We are supposed to go to that very area to the Aquarium next week. I am holding off buying tickets until I know that everything is cleaned up. From what I understand the roads are a mess from all the debris.

PJ - I am so sorry you are  again. Drink plenty of fluids, especially OJ, and some Chicken Noodle soup. The warmth of the soup will help with the pain of your throat. Hope you feel better soon. At least your test is out of the way. Whew!

Lynette....A puppy? I am still basking in the glow of NOT having a dog. I can leave the back gate open...walk confidently across my back yard without looking down...open the door without putting my foot across the threshold to stop escapees...vacuum less. It's fabulous! Alas, I do have to pick up any food that falls to the floor. Oh well...a small price to pay. (Did you get some Resolve while you were at the store?) Have fun with the puppy. She's sure to be a cutie and I do like cocker spaniels. We had one when I was a kid. You should name her Mizzou.

Melinda, I know, I know...your reasons have been DH's reasons since we had to put our last dog down nearly 4 years ago. But Boris and Natasha have been sooo desperate for a puppy, that we just couldn't say no anymore.

So far, the puppy has been fantastic about doing his business outside. We've had him home since about 3pm, and we have been accident-free thus far. Keep your fingers crossed.

He's a boy, BTW. And, after watching him run and hop and wag his little tail all over the house today, the kids have decided to name him Mojo. He's quite a cutie. Pics to come (once I get them uploaded). :thumbsup2

No real festivities here. I will NOT be celebrating with a margarita and some Kahlua creme pie from South of the Border (the restaurant not the tourist trap). I did that LAST year, about 38 weeks before Grasshopper was born:rolleyes1

Celebrate, my golden, delicious snack cake buddy! Live it up! It's yo berfday! Hope you had a fantastic day, whatever you did!

It was fun. b o o b-lay. I want to say something about he probably gets lots of both, but I wont cuz that's not very angelic. And to answer your question, yes that is how he pronounces it. It's French Canadian, but i wont hold that against him. hee hee
I quoted PJ and MommyP. What the heckfire happened?

Yeah, and we ALL know that you're all about angelic. *cough, cough*

Glad you had a great time, BBN. I guess it's safe to say that I have Buble envy. Heehee.

LilL, so sorry that you are sick AGAIN! Hope you sailed through today with as much ease as the plague would allow you. Have some hot tea and stay in bed for as long as possible. :sad2:

Hey, everyone else!

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TWINKIE !!!!!!"

Thanks Nab!

Happy Birthday Twinkie!!!!!

Have a wonderfu day!!!!!!
Love you OODLES!:flower3:
Another set of perfect gifts!!! I could use the babysitting and a day to relax- not to mention you know how I love SSR.... but the best was the mystery novel. I read that one in the 4th grade when I discovered Nancy Drew.

Happy birthday to the Twinkie......hope your day is spectacular......
Thanks Pumba!
HAPPY TWINKIEBIRTHDAY
Thanks DTD.

He's a boy, BTW. And, after watching him run and hop and wag his little tail all over the house today, the kids have decided to name him Mojo. He's quite a cutie. Pics to come (once I get them uploaded). :thumbsup2

Celebrate, my golden, delicious snack cake buddy! Live it up! It's yo berfday! Hope you had a fantastic day, whatever you did!

:lmao: The DH kept trying to talk me into naming one of the boys Mojo. If you know my last name feel free to laugh out loud.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! The DH surprised me with cake, presents and more dark chocolate. Then we went to up scale eating establishment (home of the whopper) and to a fancy-schmancy urban shop (The Targets) so all the kids could spend the gift cards they raked in on twinkiekidbirthdaypalooza.

PJ- You will feel much better tomorrow. The fever from strep is aweful. Rest, liquids, medicine, more rest.

Lynette and I are going to pirate: Feel free to join us if y'all read this.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TWINK!!!!!!!

Glad you're having a fun birthday!

Exciting day here at the Moo's. I picked my DD up from the airport this afternoon and we managed to pull off a surprise at my hubby's belated birthday dinner. I managed to keep her visit secret and we surprised him at the restaurant! :yay: He was SO happy :)

Do y'all know where the only other Raglan Road is? Right here in this little KC Cowtown. It only opened a few weeks ago (in time for the Big 12 basketball tournaments) and I haven't had a chance to visit yet. Maybe once the Big 12 crowd leaves town after this weekend.
COOL, Rob! You definiitely need to give them a try :thumbsup2

DD was pretty happy that UNC won their BB game today and that Duke lost :woohoo:

Alright Moo, Lynette, Wendy and anyone else who loves a lil Michael Buble.

The concert was FANTABULOUS. He is such a smarta** and funny, and he can sing like nobody's business. I have seen him in interviews and knew he could be a little crazy, but he is an absolute entertainer.

We had pretty good seats. See how close I was to him?!?!

Also, after the concert we met his opening act called Naturally 7. The dh said bend down there and I'll get a picture of y'all. They use NO instruments and sing and make music only by their very own vocal cords. They were really cool. I was amazed. I think this is a you-tube link. You should watch!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5qc3qZqe38

IMG_2695.jpg

I'm heading to bed. Hope y'all have a nice Saturday! An extra pic for your viewing pleasure.:upsidedow (I had to hunch over, cuz Michaels on the short side. ;))

IMG_2700.jpg
MOO HOO, bbn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad the concert was FANTABULOUS!!! :dance3:

Thanks for sharing the photoe!

Moo[/B]....Thanks for the picture from Raglan Rd. I'm gonna be like Celery this year and make 47 ADRs just to cover all the bases! Emily just said no to WPC this year so I'm glad to hear there's a goog option.

Does anyone else think it's weird not having Marita here? Hope you're having fun, Marita!
Yep, give it a try! Tons o' ADRs? w00t!

I am missing Marita too :guilty: I'm sure she's having a wonderfu time ;)

Pumba, feel free to ship your turkey dinner leftovers to Michigan!

Peej!!! So sorry you're feeling  I'm sure you did better on your exam than you think. :grouphug:

Lynette! Looking forward to seeing the puppy pics! :dogdance:

You probably won't die from it.

Wheat Thins
Ok, this is the second day in a row that a WT post has made me :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I'm starting to worry about myself. :upsidedow

Yeah, and we ALL know that you're all about angelic. *cough, cough*
We ALL do? I must have missed that memo.

P&J: Sorry to hear that you're sick yet again and at such a bad time too. My DW says I always get sick when I get overly stressed out. Maybe that's true for you too? Or maybe those little munchkins you've been exposed to this year keep infesting you with their nasty germs.

DS12, Jeffrey, had baseball practice early this afternoon and injured his thumb. He and DW visited the emergency room late this afternoon because it was still hurting him and they diagnosed it as a fracture. He has to visit the orthopedist on Monday before we will have a full diagnosis. Thank God it is not his pitching hand.

We are painting the living room this weekend -- this afternoon and evening was prep work and the actual painting will commence tomorrow.

Lexi- too many missed free throws and playing 4 games in 72 hours cost FS the game. One point loss when they weren't ready after a missed free throw. They left it all on the court. Record breaking crowd for a girl's championship, 6000+. Crowd was about half and half. Franklin had to be about empty. and Georgia won again tonight

HAPPY PALM SUNDAY!

Woke up late after being up late!

DTD....Thanks for the news! So close yet so far! Runners up is nothing to be ashamed of. Thanks for cheering...I bet it was a sea of blue! The GA game was close! Again!

Rob....The dog looks totally disenchanted with the whole painting thing. You know my theory is not to do anything to the house til the kids are gone...no new furniture, paint, nothin. Just frat house furniture and dingy walls for the next 10 years. Also sorry to hear about the fracture. I feel your pain. Me and the orthopedist are like *this*. He'll probably have us over for Thanksgiving this year. We've learned to just put the fractured part in a splint and go to the orthopedist office on Monday or next business day. The ER never does anything except say...yep it's broken..you need to go see the orthopedist. That'll be $150. Last time we went to urgent treatment. They x-rayed there and we didn't have to wait and only payed regular visit co-pay. When we go to ER, they actually have to admit you to the hospital and send you to radiology to x-ray. :sad2: so complicated.

Allie
....be back later to read your mini TR!

EVERYBODY HAVE A BLESSED PALM SUNDAY!

"The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
"Hosanna!"
"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!"
"Blessed is the King of Israel!" --John 12:12-14

Hi everyone, I'm baaaaack!

Had a great time, more later. Off to read back, unpack, and all that good stuff.

I'm on the basement computer, freezing becuase my kids are playing a pirate game upstairs on my nice modern computer. This one has a twin in the Smithsonian. Get this, I have to skroll with the side bar arrows. :3dglasses It's slower than *insert witty slow metaphor here*.

Anyway. I need to go get ready for church and it snowed overnight. Which,
as previously stated, I'm so done with the snow and winter.

So, I almost died!!! :scared1:
I was at an intersection on my way to return some DVD's at "the" Hollywood Video late last night, and I had a little trouble putting the gear shift into first gear after my light turned green (I was going to turn left at this intersection). It really only was 2 seconds of shoving it into 1st, when all of a sudden, a big truck ran it's RED light on my left!!!! If I had already had the car in 1st gear (as usual) and took off when my light turned green, I would have been T-boned by a BIG truck that was speeding through a red light. And DEAD. My kids would never get fed properly and they'd look like orphans and their teeth would all rot since they never brush unless I nag them to. They'd have ugly haircuts and marry carnival folks and play Bingo with their welfare checks. (This is how I vision them without me anyway).

I just sat there for a minute (it was late so no other traffic) and was so thankful my gearshift was not cooperating!

Sorry, this is so late coming, but the DIS has been not letting me in, and I had two kids who had projects due on Friday, and one computer. :scared: Why, oh why do teachers assign projects that are due the Friday before Spring Break? :confused3

Heyyyyy I have that same dog. Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Have fun painting! I LOVE to remodel and paint stuff. What color are you doing. I mean, what is the name on the paint chip? I think the names are funny. Not "green" but Apple4. Or Mossy Knoll ;)

Hi all,
I promised a short trippie so I best give.
We left Friday after an inch of snow had come and gone with more predicted. BG got 5 inches, our biggie for the year. But we were sell south by then. We decided to push to make sure we stayed there and, with a quick wave as we passed Athens, drove past Decatur and ate at Baxter's Family steakhouse. Excellent food, but with the 'winter storm warning' the place was deserted on a Friday. We pushed on to Montgomery, where we stayed in a one star dump. Which seem to dominate Montgomery. We used to stop here often, but stopped. Now I remember why.
Saturday we drove on to Mobile with a stop at a Shoney's breakfast bar. It was much better than the one back home. They had sliced polish sausage that made my day. The game was at 12:30, and the LadyTops put us throught he ringer before finishing the game with a 14-6 run to win by 8. We watched part of the next game, then headed to dinner. We wen t back and checked in at the La Quinta. There was a problem with our room, and they mooved us without hesitation. The room they put us in was a single, and Bob and I don't swing that way. Well, we barely swing at all, just sway a little. The room was clean and fresh, and everything worked. I will stay with them again.
When we went back for the evening games, we stopped for dinner across the street from the arener at a place called Pickelfish. It looked awful on the outside, but came highly recommended, so we went in. Inside was clean and full of hotT college chicks. Or at least wannabees. Martha and I split a pizza the size of a football field that was the best I'd had since college(30 years). Bob raved about his burger. At the games we made friends with the players from Ark-Little Rock. They won the first game and ate their postgame meal in the stands near us. We spent the game making fun of our archrival, Middle TN, who apparently is hated conference wide.
Sunday morning the schools hosted a champagne reception on the USS Alabama. Ain't we high class? The temperature was over 70, where it would stay all week. They had a folk singer who performed for 4 hours. We had the run of the ship-free tours, food on a biscuit, and drinks. Ok, the only alcohol was the drop of champagne they would put in a mimosa, but oj, soda and water. And it was all free! About 1500 people showed up, and the food ran out, but it was a great party.
We left the shop hungry and knew there were great seafood restaurants all around us. There's our old reliable, the Original Oyster House, Eddie's, and a new for us place. I now have a new favorite seafood restaurant, the R&R. We had gobs of great food. I had the shrimp, and they offered a side of sausage. This was a goog day. Bob said his oysters were the best he'd ever had. The service was order at the counter, then they bring your food. Sidenote, this place is known for its crawfish, and we watched as several people left with 5 gallon buckets of them.
We arrived late for the games, but saw part of the first and all of the second. There were 14 games in 4 days, and we saw parts of all of them. And at this session, I had the only alcohol I consumed all week, a coupla beers with old friends. After the games, we headed for dinner. We tried the Brick Pit for BBQ, but it was closed. So we headed toward town to aplace called the Dew Drop Inn, which Jimmy Buffet swears has the best cheeseburgers in the world. Alas, we didn't find out. Being Sunday, they were closed, too. So we ended up at Dreamland, a BBQ chain with little charm, just lots of dark and tvs. It was all right, nothing special.
That night the men played and won(tmi? cel). We went to Denny's to celebratewith dessert, a hot fudge brownie and milk for me. Yummmie.
Monday we got up fright and early(ok, not that bright) and headed to our favorite chain for breakfast, IHOP. I resisted the chocolate chip pancakes and ate the special, sausage, bacon, eggs, and pancakes. Goog. On to the games. We were playing a team that always gives us fits, but today we just buried them. We trailed once at 8-7, but went on a tear and won by 14. We stayed for the whole second game, cheering for our Little Rock friends, who gave Middle a goog tussle, but couldn't finish. But they ran them to death.
Dinner was to be our old favorite, the Original Oyster House. Last we were there, it was 2 restaurants in one, downstairs was a dive and upstairs was a fine restaurant with a view of the battleship. Katrina destroyed this placed, and they rebuilt about a mile further out. Just one nicer place now, but on stilts and a little open.:scared1: They had an elevator, though, wo we managed.
The menu had no mention of scallops, so we asked. Scallops are my favorite and also Martha's. They said they had them, just didn't put them on the menu. Huh? Well, they were wonderfu. Ten huge meaty hunks of white and cooked perfectly. If you are ever in Mobile, the seafood is better than New Orleans, especially on Battleship Parkway.
Back to the arener for the men's games. We got there late late late for the Middle game against the host, South Alabama. And it was a war. South Al was the favorite, and had beaten us for our only 2 losses in conference. It was hard cheering for Middle-not out loud- but they won, so all we had to do was beat Little Rock. Which we did, setting up a game with Middle, a team we bedat both games in the regular season. So both games on Tuesday would be WKU v MTSU or MUTS as we like to call them.
Tuesday started with a WKU party at Wentzell's a local chain in Mobile featuring oysters. About 100 people showed up to shell out 25 bucks with tip for a buffet of oysters, shrimp, chicken tenders, crawfish etouffee, salad and a very few veggies. And the worst hushpuppies this son of the south has ever eaten. Not the best start. Service, however, was great. But you can't eat service. The company was great, all us Hilltoppers in one place and all.
In cel and Wendee's honor, we will just say that neither game was close and WKU came home with 2, count them, 2 Sun Belt championships. Both teams commented that our group of fans was so large, it felt like a home game. We ate between games at the Brick Pit, and had the bedst homestyle ribs on the planet. The theme of the trip could have been too much food. Definitely a step up from Dreamland.
After the men's game, we went to Krispie Kreme to celebrate. This was miles from the arener, almost downtown, and we were surprised to see other Topper fans there. About 30 showed up by the time we left. Do we know how to party or what!
We headed back in the morning, stopping at Whataburger somewhere in the suburbs of Birmingham to eat. Then on, with another wave toward Athens. Except all of Bama was suddenly under construction, so it took about 2 hours longer than expected. We got to Nashville, and stopped in the Pied Piper Creamery for ice cream and a big dose of Glancy. Can you imagine being raised in an ice cream shop? He's too young to sample, but he is constatly cooed over and people are always stopping by to see him. Three friends of Jenny's showed up just while we were there, so I had to share. But hey, he picked me to beurk on. And, on a 74 degree day, ice cream was the thing to eat. A great ending for an incredible week.
