I forgot the limit, when are we supposed to get shut down again? Memory like a sieve, I tell you!

Wendy, hope you grand plan worked and you got out of doing your duty

It is raining buckets here right now. Why is there no umbrella smiley?

There is Marita- :umbrella:
The rest of these are from Princess Twink!

:beach: :dancer: :tinker: :goofy: :umbrella: :mickeyjum :hippie: :cake: :furious: (this last one she calls fire face)

Thanks, Twinkie :umbrella:

Tell Princess Twink those are all very great smileys. I need to use fireface more............

Babynurse -- The one with the inside out umbrella is usually me....:lmao:

Still have this darn headache but it didn't stop me from making two apple pies for hubby's birthday tomorrow. I tried to convince him he wanted a cake or even a big cookie but he wouldn't go for it. Pies are not my thing. They taste way better then they look. :rotfl:

The kids are looking around the house for birthday presents for him. I love it. recycle , reuse.... They made cards already. They are also talking about decorating.

MMMM, apple pie, Nabbie.

I love pies, but I am not big on cake or cookies. So I am siding with your hubby.

To paraphrase what's his name, "It's better to taste good than look good!"

Are ya'll chatting? Where is every one? :magnify:

Hope every one had a warm day :sunny:

Hi Lil Blue,

Nobody is chatting, never this early anyway (dinnertime and all that stuff). Just a very slow day here today........... There is usually no chat during the week, best chance is Friday or Saturday nights (10'ish)

I just finished up doing dishes and cleaning up, and have to figure out what to have for dinner.

Got some sweet and sour chicken dish at lunch today from our  cafeteria. I ate a bit at lunch, brought the rest home, and then decided to just give the rest of the chicken (not the rice or other stuff) to the dog. Won't get that again!

So hunt for dinner is on.... as soon as I bumlay for a bit...

And I have cruise line stuff to investigate too :boat:

And Landsend to investigate for a bathing suit.....

Alright, people.
I caved and bought the Twilight book.
And I woke at 1 am this morning.
So I decided to read.
And finished the book at 6 am this morning.
You people are EVILE!
I am so dead now!
I think I'm headed back to the hotel.
I did work for almost 5 hours.
But there's no internet at the hotel. And no more book. :(
I guess I'll have to do homework.
I start the drive tomorrow (I'll wave Alli!)
Probably won't be back on until Saturday unless by some miracle the internet is working at the hotel this afternoon.

Welcome to the dark side! Did you love it?

duh, of course you didi!

I was chosen today. Isn't that great! There was 4 out of 20 of us picked for this DUI case...the defendant wasn't IN the car. He had a keyless entry and wasn't even sitting in the driver's seat. He was outside the car waiting for a ride from his family member. DUI is a foggy one. The prosecution was trying to establish his ability and intent. This fellow was a Native American who, yes, was very drunk (.16 on the breathalizer, .08 is drunk in Utah) but not in the car. It's a long story and I'm leaving out a ton.

Not only was I picked but my fellow jurors voted me to be the foreperson (is that the word?) to read the verdict. You can call me Juror #1 since I practically just passed the bar. :cool2:

And Norah threw up at day care. :guilty:

Wendy, oh no!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

Where did the plan go wrong?

YIKES!!!!!!!!!

Oh wait, YOU FORGOT THE FISHNET STOCKINGS!!!!!!!

WOw, now your greatness is spread beyond the Dis to the courtrooms of Utah.
Bowing to an honest to goodness celebrity :worship:

Sorry about poor Norah

Went to dinner at the Japanese steak house again tonight - this time with my little sister and a friend, whose birthday we celebrated. We had a funny chef tonight. He messed up flipping the egg shell for the fried rice and our friend caught it. The next time he was flipping something, she put her napkin over the front of herself for "protection"! He got a big kick out of that :lmao:

One of the MSU basketball players, Drew Neitzel (our friend recognized him), was there having dinner tonight. He seemed very congenial while posing for photos with some boys.

Wait!...skreeeeetch!

I am serving my country tomorrow as a semi responsible citizen of Salt Lake. I, Wendy L. Mama, am finally *for sure* on jury duty. Let's run by my list once more:

Coral lipstick, check
Big Hair, checkaroonie
visible panti-lines, check
44 oz. big gulp, check
Pro death penalty mentality, check
Maximum penalty for DUI and J-walking, check
Bubalicious in Double-Berry-Blow, check

I'm forgitting somethin', I jist know it.

Ohhhhhh Yeah, the kids. CHECK, check, and check. I called on some owed favors to my choice of many many neighbors and my kids should, in theory, make it to school somewhat unscathed and on time-ish.

This causes a huge reality shift for my day. Causing me to be up and ready a good hour before I want to. Possibly causing an inadvertent "mood". Just thought I'd throw that out there just in case I take a tone with any of yous.

Have you gathered I might not want to be doing my duty? :cool2: And if I must do my duty, let them be sort of interesting and entertaining cases? Course I'll tell you all about them in finite detail.

AND, if you happen to be your know where, playing you know what, please let it be my turn when I get back. You know who(m) you are.
:rotfl2: I wish I could pull that look off as well as you if I happen to get called for jury duty next month!!!

I am on my way over to see if you put me out of my misery again. we must be down to our last couple plays :sad2:

moohooty to Marita for page 100
AND
moohooty to ME for post 1500
GREAT SWOOP, TWINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are ya'll chatting? Where is every one? :magnify:

Yep, like Marita said it looked to have been a super slow day around here. Nice to see you though. As usual, I love the bovine bling :thumbsup2

We'll probably be flying the chat flag tomorrow night if you're around.

Nabbie, sorry your were still suffering with that headache today. Wish your hubby a :bday:

Loved the smilies, bbn! You've got mad skillz :dance3:

How's the cruise research going, Marita?

MommyP, hope the packing, etc. is progressing.

Hi, to everyone else :upsidedow

How's the cruise research going, Marita?

Going slow Moo. I am bookmarking threads and sending them to my work email to print out tomorrow and send to DH/

Look like I might skip Palo this time around and most of Nassau, but has to be discussed with the family this weekend.

But I did learn that DH was wrong in stating that EVERY non-alcoholic drink would be charged for, only room service and something else.
Ds went to Nassau a few months ago for a honeymoon cruise for his friend and was not too impressed, so I am really leaning toward a short excursion and then relaxing on the ship.
Maybe I should take 2 Twilight books, LOL!
I can handle bumlaying on a deck by the pool with someone bringing me Pina Coladas or something instead of racing through some tourist trap selling crappy souveniers you will never look at again.

Yeah, I think that may be my plan... Except I don't want to miss out on what the family is doing.
So I am on the fence. Family discussion is needed this weekend.

OH, I am up for chat tomorrow!!!!!

Wendy, oh no!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

I wore a conservative black skirt, white fitted button down blose, sheer black pantihose, black heels (conservative). Hair and makeup done conservative like a first lady or intern ;) . Wedding band and watch and diamond stud earrings. ((With a neon banner stating Honk For Romney!)) I was glad to be picked, though, in all honesty, since my kids were taken care of.

I deleted the stuff that looked like sports-talk.

I love Japanese food! Was this a Benny Hana type place with the fancy knife-work?

If you DO want to be picked, make eye contact with each of the attorneys. And act like you're paying attention. When they're weeding through all the prospects by asking personal questions don't raise your hand too much and make trouble...or you'll be cast out.

So tomorrow night pirate: then?

Marita -- all the soda, coffee, tea even hot chocolate is free up on the top deck. That would be deck 9 and you are on 7.But you do have to get that yourself from the machines. There are people there that will get you adult beverages too though. Yes they will charge you for them at bars and room service. We just run up every night and bring it down to our rooms. Or take it to the shows and movie theatre. And of course these our all free with you meals. You have to pay all your adult drinks. I think they have a wine package though that you can buy.

Thanks for the congrats:cool1:

Great jury story Wendee! I have never been on a jury- I am always seem to have a newborn when they call me. :confused3 It does sound like fun. What kind of personal questions... things like "have you ever been to Math camp?" :lovestruc

The other day inspired me to google smoffing. I found this great song called "Smoffing the Filkers" which is to the tune of Waltzing Matilda. I have been singing it all day. Filkers are sci fi fans who gather in the evenings to sing original folk music- mainly with a spoof or sci fi theme. The name comes from an actual paper (like for a journal)someone wrote where they misspelt "folk" as "filk"..... the whole thing amuses me to no end! Moo forgot to mention that the "secret masters of fandom" has a whole conspiracy theory angle- I do love a good conspiracy theory ;)

Here is the chorus

Smoffing the filkers, smoffing the filkers,
Who'll come a-smoffing the filkers with me?
Smoffing for a con is like juggling bees and herding cats
And playing the flute simultaneously.

Yep, Wendy, they did Benihana-like chopping and knife/spatula twirling! Plus they make a big whooshing flame on the cooktop before they start cooking. Which was nice because they keep it fairly chilly in the restaurant.

Avoid eye contact with each of the attorneys. CHECK.
Drowse off. CHECK.
Raise my hand a lot. CHECK. (Like THAT will ever happen.)
Make as much trouble as possible. :rotfl2:

Sounds pretty hard to get cast out . . .

:rolleyes1

Last edited by Minnie_Moo : Today at 10:49 PM. Reason: Juggling bees, herding cats, and playing the flute simultaneously? Yikes, Twink! Didn't read about filkers.
well that is how I would describe my daily life- except I have never played the flute....

I love japanese steak houses. We made the mistake of taking our oldest to one when he was four and the show and the fire and the flying knives and the cute little shrimp shaped like a bunny rabbit inspired a life long love of shrimp, steak and fine dining. WHAT where we thinking??

Grasshopper had a bath tonight. Freshly washed baby. Yum.

Never mind, I was having not so nice thoughts about DD (dear dog)

Yes, what WERE you thinking, Twink?!! :rotfl2: At least the kids prices where I go are somewhat reasonable. Did they make a little onion volcano for your son? I think they mainly just do that one when there are kids at the table. I've only seen it once.

Freshly washed baby? I haven't smelled that in YEARS. Dangerous smell for those of us who are grandma-aged

Freshly bathed puppy isn't exactly yum when they're still damp :scared:

Dog stew, Marita??! :lmao:
