first off i love your theming and the craftiness, I can only hope that some of it will rub off on me :)

secondly, just out of curiosity what grade do you teach? I have 2 semesters left before my student teaching (Sec. ED English :thumbsup2 ) Dboyfriend and I are trying to figure out if we should try and do the wedding before or after I start teaching? :confused3 i'm hearing that if i try to plan a wedding and survive my first year of teaching i may end up like this  :faint:

any thoughts, comments, or suggestions would be appreciated! good luck with everything!

congratulations on your engagement! I've been teaching for about 9 years! I've been teaching the first grade for quite a while, but I've done 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and preschool. And I think that the first year of teaching is stressful.....however, I've had a few friends who planned weddings during their first year of teaching (and others who had babies!). It depends on what you feel like you can handle, and on your working style. Are you the type of teacher that might stay late every night to get things done? Or are you more of a manager, and wrangle the help of some nice parents so that you can go home early and do some wedding prep? Most new teachers work themselves to the bone because they don't know all those little short cut secrets that more experienced teachers know. I say get married when you want to, and don't let work influence when it happens. Your life is your life, and your work is work....trust me...it took me about 3 years to realize that they should be separate. :)

And I promise I'll post more wedding prep pictures tonight! .....okay...maybe not tonight....but I'll try! :teeth:

I teach at a private preschool, and believe me, the wedding planning just isn't coming along. I'm so exhausted by the time I get home from work, that I don't want to do much of anything. Good luck with school and your student teaching.

thanks guys!

i suppose we shall see how things progress. my best friend is getting married in march and she can handle a job/planning a wedding/pre-law/law school stuff so i could take a cue from her :teeth: i am most assuredly the type of person who would work herself to the bone because i have this fixation on doing everything myself to "make sure its done right" i blame the mild OCD on my mother lol.

Okay! It's the weekend! Time to do wedding prep! :yay:

Here is my necklace that I'll be wearing for the wedding. My earing are by the same artist, but are different than these because it's a single dangling pearl, and I've got the matching bracelet to wear with this.

Here are my shoes!

I've been making these paper cones. They will be filled with mints, and other candies, and will hang from the chairs.
cone1.jpg

This is a pile-o-cones. I've got two different kinds. One with clear glass glitter on the tops, and one with pretty stickers on them.
cone2.jpg

This is how it will hang on the chair. I really didn't need another favor for the guests...I just wanted something that would add a little color to the chairs.

Mmmmmmm....mints, hard citrus candy, and clove candy sticks! Yummy!

I'll post more later! Have a great weekend!

Moonpie,

I love all the things you're doing for your wedding. I would love to know where you got those shoes? I love them. I want something classy but not incredibly, uncomfortably high!

Thanks everyone for your compliments! :) I hope that when the big day comes, that it all looks good together.

My shoes are Shannon Britt shoes. She's got a website where she's got a lot of unique bridal shoes, but unfortunately the style of my shoes are no longer on that site. https://www.shannonbrittshoes.com/index.php
Actually, my fiance found my shoes for me on zappos.com. I did a search on Shannon Britt shoes, and there are a number of her shoes on that site....and my fiance found them for me because I was so upset about my original shoes being too high...and I had worries about falling down the aisle!

I'm sorry to be repetitive, but I must must join the chorus: your ideas and implementation are fantastic!! I love the way you've planned your wedding and your individual touches! It' so special and looks so elegant. Congratulations on all your hard work. It all looks beautiful. You must be so excited for your wedding day!!

Thank you, by the way, for the gift box information/idea. It's so much more elegant than a gift bag! And your welcome boxes are really loaded up. Your guests are lucky that you care so much about them! :goodvibes

Thank you!

I just finished making my placecards last night.
placecard2.jpg

My fiance and I printed our guests names on cardstock, and made them into tags with a tag maker that I bought at a scrapbook store. Then I tied them to these old fashioned looking playing cards that I found on Stampington.com...a scrapbooking, and craft website.

The cards will be set on top of these napkins that I sewed for the reception.

Well....I've got more things to put together for my wedding! I can't wait until Wednesday when I have my final dress fitting! I'll post pictures of that as soon as I can! princess:

Okay.....this is where I would have posted pictures from my final dress fitting from tonight. :guilty: :sad2: :guilty: But....unfortunately, my Mother was in charge of the camera and only took 3 pictures....actually, 3 of the same picture....of me from the waist up....zoomed in really close....... :guilty: ...I look hideous! So....I'm sorry that I can't post some dress pictures.... :guilty: . *sigh* But, my wedding is in less than 3 weeks, so I'll post pictures of the dress from our wedding photos some time soon. *sigh* I was just so excited to take some pictures and share them..... :guilty: ....oh, well. :sad2:

i love your wedding ideas. they are great! very creative. i hope to be just like that when i get married some day. i think the little things are what make it fun. such personal touches on your stuff!

Thanks! :)

So.....for our Disneymoon my fiance and I have our Disney personalized t-shirts to wear, and Winnie the Pooh light up necklaces for at night....and glow bracelets. Yes. We are geeks. :teeth:

My wedding is in exactly 2 weeks! Yikes! Gulp! :yay: :woohoo:

At our reception we are having two very long table arrangements....sort of what I call "the last supper" arrangement.... :teeth: ....and we are having some "toys" for people to play with while sitting at the tables. We are covering the tables with brown kraft paper, and placing these kinds of colored pencils along the table. That way people can draw and color, or write something nice right on the table! These are colored pencils that we found that are made of real twigs. They match with our fall theme.

We are also having vintage view masters from the 50's spread across the table, with old view master reels....like views of California (where I'm from) and views of New Jersey (where my fiance is from) and views of Disney characters, and Disney World....and a few nostalgic tv show view master reels as well....you gotta include the Jetsons and Flipper too! :rotfl:
I've posted these pictures before...but.....This is the church where we will be getting married. It's a Spanish Mission in California that has had a University built up around it. I recieved my Masters Degree from this school, Santa Clara University....which is why we were allowed to plan our wedding here.

This is the inside of the church...the picture here does not really capture all the historical Spanish architectural details.

This is the court yard...and part of the reception hall where the reception will be.

Thanks!

Okay....so I've spent the day folding, sewing, and ironing napkins. Can I stop now?

We also attempted to make ressies at the House Of Blues for one of our Disneymoon days....except they kept my fiance on hold for about an hour...and when they finally answered they said we can't make ressies until about a week before the day we want to go. Anyway, we are planning on seeing INXS who will be playing there on November 21st. I'm not a huge fan of the group...but I like their music, and we thought it would be fun to see them play while on our Disneymoon!

Okay...so I thought I'd share our menu for our reception...it's a buffet...

Passed appetizers:
mini veggie empanadas
mini potato pancakes with sour cream & apple sauce
mini pizza with goat cheese, peppers and onions

Salad:
Mixed greens with toasted pecans, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, red onion with raspberry vinaigrette.

Entree
Macaroni and cheese: penne pasta with a creamy white cheddar and swiss sauce, baked with rosemary bread crumbs on top.

Veggie tart: puff pastery with zuchini, cherry tomato, onion, and feta cheese.

Roasted veggies: potato, tomato, butternut squash, carrots...etc...all oven roasted with olive oil, salt, pepper, and rosemary.

Vegetarian chili: spicy chili with beans, potato, butternut squash...and a medley of other veggies.

Plus....corn bread muffins!

Notice that everything is vegetarian! I'm soooooo looking forward to see some of my family's reaction to the meatless meal! :teeth: :stir:

I'll share more soon!

Okay...so in the last post I wrote about our menu. So, do you have room for dessert now? Here's what will be on our dessert table!

Check out the bakery that will be making all these treats for us! It's an adorable place...and I had the idea of kind of recreating the way the bakery looks for our dessert table. http://www.icingonthecakebakery.com/

25 carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting
25 apple spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting
8 inch chocolate and mocha frosting cake...all displayed on tiers :)

1 apple pie (which is our groom's cake)
24 semi sweet chocolate chip cookies
12 white chocolate cookies with pecans
12 oatmeal butterscotch cookies
12 snickerdoodles
24 coconut macaroons
12 chocolate haystacks
12 brown sugar shortbread cookies
20 chocolate and vanilla sandwich cookies
10 peanut butter sandwich cookies

16 rice crispy treats
16 chocolate chip brownies
16 farmhouse apple bars
16 raspberry lynnzer bars

Do you think we have enough? :lmao:
