Moonlight Magic- how many tickets can you book?

So I know the info page for the event says you can book either 4 tickets or up to the number of people on your reservation. We only have two people on our reservation (with points, direct members), so does that mean we can only book two tickets since we only have two in the room? Or could we go ahead and book 4?

I've seen conflicting things on which is possible. I've seen some people say if you have a reservation then you are limited to the number of people in your reservation, but the info page explicitly say that.

Does anyone have experience booking MM for 4 people even though they had fewer than 4 on their reservation? Maybe for a family member or two that are staying on their own non-DVC reservation.

We have done so without any issues.

Although I have to wonder if they'll allow that for Tower Studios, which you didn't mention but just popped into my skull.

We’ll be staying at CCV so we’ll be good there, but that will be interesting to see going forward for folks in those rooms.
