Moonlight Magic - Guest Count

Just wanted to see if anyone knows the answer to this or had dealt with something similar. I had a 2 bedroom booked before the September 28th party count cut off date, but I didn’t realize I needed to add everyone in my party before that date. There’s 9 of us (2 infants), so we need a total of 7 tickets. I was able to grab 5 during the early booking, but I now need to try to grab two more. The DVC phone rep mentioned I could try to modify it on the 9th to increase the party size, but now I’m really thinking the form would not allow me to increase the party size even though the reservation now matches it. Does anyone know if I could cancel the moonlight magic reservation and try to book all 7 of us at the general registration opening? Or would that still be limited to 5 even with the reservation updated? Any other ideas for this situation? **This is for the December AK Moonlight Magic date.

General registration will only allow for a max of 5 even if you have a DVC Resort reservation. So if you were to cancel your existing MM event registration and try during general registration, you would not be able to get more than 5 spots.

As for modifying your existing MM event registration during the general registration period to increase the number of spots, not sure if that would actually work since general registration is limited to five spots.

I have no idea but what I do know is MS doesnt always know what they are talking about relating to MM and give out bad info.

Unfortunately, in order to register for more than 5 during early registration, all the names need to be added before them.

It’s why I always fill my spots up if we are going to be there because we don’t always know who will come.

I don’t think they are going to let you add more now during general.

Don't cancel. Sometimes people on here have last minute extra spots and will try to meet up to get someone eligible in, who doesn't have enough spots.

Watch for a post or create the first post (I don't remember the rule but I know they like to keep it in one thread) and add your name to it. You might get lucky.

THIS - I got very lucky at this summer's HS MM and had multiple people offering to meet up to give us the extra ticket we needed.

I could be wrong, but I though the wording during general reservation was still based on guests on a reservation or a max of 5.

It may be moot in this case as the guests weren't added in time, but if you had guests added, weren't able to register early and have 6+ guests, I understand that you can register 6+ guests during general registration (if you make it through the queue).

that is not the case. I needed 6 tickets and didn't make it all the way through early registration (all guests were on the reservation; took "no more tickets" for an answer when now I know to keep refreshing). Got in to general registration and could only get 5.

I wonder if it would have let me register more than 5 during general then ! I think it’s too late now- it says Dec 15 is closed now. I went on to modify, and it did not give an option to modify the party size unfortunately. Definitely a good lesson to always make sure I have my party size set in the future!!

Thank you for that update!! I’m so glad I didn’t try general then- it would have been a waste with canceling.
