Hey All!

I wonder if you think, generally speaking, that waiting to book at the 7-month window would be in vain for a studio if our vaca happens to be during a MM event? It appears that most resorts can be booked during Sept (mostly/spotty), but I didn't know how MM affects the chances. It's our wedding anniversary + a birthday that we want to go on the 15th, but it so happens to be a MM on top of it. Argh!

Thanks!

You don't say where you want to book. But if it were me, I would book my own resort and then at 7 months try to switch. Some views are gone already for the night of 9/15 but right now there are rooms at all resorts.

I wasn't sure if it was against forum policy to mention where, but it's at the Polynesian, any view since beggars can't be choosers. Our home resort is OKW, so we'd be sleeping around for this trip, hopefully. :)

A more modern phenomenon is that, when a Moonlight Magic night is announced more than 7 months out from the date given, DVC resorts can fill, particularly for studios and particularly any near park resorts, before 7 months out for that single night, even if it is in an otherwise lower demand time and the rest of the nights of the week stay open. That has already happened for Sep dates before, e.g., it happened for a Sep 19, 2018 MM night at Studios and the Poly (and other near park resort) studios did fill for that night before 7 months out.

The only time we ask that someone doesn’t post details is when they questions about renting or are selling

You are more than welcome to discuss specifics when booking your own. The only aspect we do not allow is posting of actual ability when someone asks!

If you are not borrowing points, it does not seem that there would be any harm in making an OKW ressie, then trying to switch.

MM aside, why would you ever wait (if you do not have to borrow)? There is no penalty to cancelling (outside of 31 days)

Hi @jerseyduke, great question and thanks for asking.

You got it - we will have to borrow all our 2021 points as we are planning to treat my parents to a trip with us...so we need to book 2 studios at the same time (was originally planning on 1-bed for OKW, but they need their privacy and my mom really wants to stay at the Poly). Given that health is a major concern (cancer treatments), I'm trying to map out a loose plan now, since it's likely that the travel plans (and parties) may change at any time. That's part of the reason why I'm definitely not booking 2 studios at OKW right now.

My post was to get an idea if even hoping for Poly at 7 months with MM as part of the vaca was a pipe dream. Here's hoping I can get it for us come Feb 11th, at the 7-month window! :)

Thanks again!

I did a split stay this past Sept (2019) from 9/14-9/18 at the poly then switched to VGF 9/18-9/22. VGF is a home, so I was able to switch into the poly for the first four nights at the 7 month mark. That Wednesday was not avail at 7 months and it was MM at Typhoon Lagoon. I did not bother wait listing as I was perfectly content with my split stay. At first I did not even get the Tuesday night, so I did 3 days then 5. But that night opened up in a few days. I stopped and settled for 4 and 4

Of course that was only 1 attempt at one point in time

Keep in mind OP you can’t book multiple villas at once. You have to finish booking one then you can book the second. So it is possible you may be able to snag 1 studio at 7 months but not get the second. I don’t track availability for Sept since we never go then but if it was Oct the chances of booking 2 studios would be slim. Popular studio options (near park resorts) go right away when the 7 month booking window opens. Good luck!

One thing to help with this is book the first with only one guest...so you don’t waste time entering names. Once you get it booked, start second one and book it with other lead guest. Then once all is booked, go back in and modify to add the other guests

We know Moonlight Magic is September 15? Where the heck have I been and I did not see an email. I am never at Disney for Moonlight Magic and always check to see. However I had planned on being at Disney a little later in September this year and would be around. Since I dont have tickets I guess it doesnt even matter now, correct? Where is it being held and do I have any chance on getting two tickets? Do I keep calling?

Thanks.

Everything is done online. The good news is that you haven’t missed your chance! They announced days a while back, but the member website has the specific dates when you can try for tickets for each event.

When you log in to DVC it is under Offers and benefits...if you can find just search and it will pull it up!

Thanks, @jerseyduke! That gives me some hope! Definitely open to considering a split stay (4+4) as well! You rock!
I have always suspected

JK, although I did just realize I am in the VGF that week again this year and plan on being at the MM. Not sure if I will try to do a split stay or not, have yet to decide

I should add, that my VGF stay was not done in a split manner, so I actually had to call MS at 9, and did still get the room at the poly (std view studio) for 3 nights even though online booking started an hour earlier

Wow. Thanks so much! This gives me hope. Going to try and get tickets. Thank you!

Thank you very much! I will go on the site at work tomorrow and take a look. Excited I have a shot. Thanks.
