Monty Dog travels in Style... (photos! lots!)

Hi everybody…

Monty Dog here…

Today I went on my coolest adventure yet! I went to the big city and saw all kinds of cool animals, went on a really weird type of car, ate at some place that is famous from that talking picture box thing and I even got to ride the "subway" again. I'm so cool. I am "da dog". Really. It's true.

Anyway, my mom took some pictures (until her camera battery died at least) and so I wanted to share them with you all.

Mom! Can we please hurry up and do something FUN!

Here I am trying to sneak into a shop for people…

That is the weirdest looking dog I have ever seen… It lives at the Aquarium… That must be where they keep all the really weird looking dogs…

Looking out into the harbor; remembering when I got to go on a boat… I'd make a good pirate, don't you think?

Ah….you people have no idea how HUGE this all looks to a pup like me…

Heheheee Kind of gives new meaning to the phrase "give a dog a bone…" heeheheee…

I wanna be a ghostbuster!

Alright, I guess I'm done resting. I'm sooo comfy though!

Then we went back to Fanueil Hall for some lunch at this place. Ever heard of it?

I got the best seat in the house!

I got to have people food! Yummy! Dad got me a "kiddie burger!" and said there was still more fun to come…

You mean it's not the end of the day yet????

So then, my mom and dad put me in this weird car thing. Here's Dad helping me in!

It's QUITE cushy! I could get very used to this…

Wow! It moves!!! What is that huge dog pulling the car???

Definitely the strangest car I have ever been in, but I love the clear view of passing trucks! I LOVE trucks!!!

This is fun!

I love looking around. The breeze feels so nice too!

It's hard being a prince…

I could SO drive this thing…

I say thanks to our driver. He is my other new best friend!

I take it back! THIS is the STRANGEST looking dog I have ever seen!

We go back through Faneuil Hall. I take a rest here and make at least 70 new friends while staring longingly at this store full of shiny things that look like they would be lot's of fun to break!

I am the most awesome dog in the world!!!!!! Bwahahahahahahaa….

*****Um, hi folks…this is Sheri, (EsmeraldaX on the DIS) here. Monty was getting a little carried away there so I'm going to finish this essay up for him… I think he is a wee bit overtired…*****

Monty's starting to get sleepy…Can he make all these steps?

Monty contemplates buying a really fancy pen or pocket watch…

Making friends with a 6 year old pup we met downtown. What a sweetie he was.

The mean Swan Boat people would not let Monty ride even though he was basically asleep in our arms at the time…

Monty, the brave hunting dog, took no notice of these guys at all!

(note how uninterested in the birds and squirrels he is…)

I think when Monty grows up he wants to be a police horse!

Then my dumb battery died and we headed back on the subway. When we got to the Cruiser in the parking lot, Monty was asleep. He slept on my lap the whole ride home. And this next photo is him, as he has been for the last 5 hours… (with the exception of his little storytelling bit above)

We've found a lot of stuff to do with Monty on that site. Also, some places you'd think would not allow dogs do, if you ask nicely, even if they don't advertise it.

Dogfriendly.com is a GREAT website for you dog people who wish you could take your dog places.

When we lived in New York, we could plan whole days out with the dogs just like this one. They had a museum of dog paintings just for dogs, plenty of dogfriendly restaurants, and the horse and carriage rides of course. Penny and Meelie even crossed the Brooklyn Bridge although their mom was quite scared of the height.

Here in DC the Capitol River Cruise allows dogs (what a blast that was!) as well as a fantastic restaurant called Citronelle. They have one of the highest food ratings in Zagat's as well. The chef actually offered to whip up some food for Penny and Amelia!

There are also gorgeous B&Bs that allow dogs. You just have to search them out. But anyone who lives near Maine consider trying the Captain Jefford's Inn in Kennebunkport. One of the owners is a vet and they allow dogs in even the nicest rooms. DH and I couldn't have been more impressed.

Thanks for sharing Monty's travels. I love seeing Monty. So does my DD.

I especially liked this thread because it's been many years since I've been to Boston. I remember the sites. I'd love to go there again someday. Maybe when DD is old enough to appreciate it. She's 8 now.

I have to remind here that there are places other than WDW to vacation to.
