Monty Dog travels in Style... (photos! lots!)

Sheri, I love your pictures. DH and I sort of/almost got engaged on the swan boats. They were just closing up and DH was prepared to pay the guy a ton of cash just to take us but this little girl was crying so bad that she couldn't go on the boats so I wouldn't let DH take us and the boat guy wouldn't take another whole boat load so it was a no go. I didn't know until later that he had planned on asking me then!!! Sorry honey! You get an A for effort!

As far as too many pictures go, I do remember Mr. Dan having to stop posting his beautiful Disney pictures for some reason. Have those rules changed?

Awwww. Sorry your Swan Boat engagement did not quite happen. :) But I see you were engaged married and your children are absolutely adorable! :) That's a cute story.

As for the pictures, a moderator/webmaster responded on the last page and had no problems at all.

The way the pictures work, is you can only have so many per post, but if you split them into different posts (replies) it's okay. If you try to post too many in one post, it actually errors out and won't let you post.

All the Monty posts have been legal so far. :)

I suspect if the mods get a few complaints about this thread they will mention somehting to her...

Another one that loved to read all about Monty. He is the cutest little guy besides my Max-boy of course. I'm very sorry to see them leave because of a couple of sour grapes. It seems more and more negativity has been on these boards of late and that make me very sad. I have enough of that garbage in my work place.

And Grumb, do yourself a favor so as not to make you further a Grumbo, that if you open the thread I linked above, it may open slowly on your computer. If you are looking for faster boards, maybe try some less traveled ones.
:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Wow how witty. Thankyou for your advice Dan. I just can't stop laughing at that rapier sharp wit :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

So what are you doing, Jenny? Recruiting?

Why? Because you don't like Monty Dog? Or is it you don't like Esmerelda? Are you saying if you can get a few more people to complain to the mods, then they'll remove Monty Dog and/or Esmerelda? Is that the point?

I think I see why Esmerelda is taking Monty Dog off the board now. And I think that is sad. I'll also echo many of the sentiments I've seen here: if you don't like the topic (which was clearly stated), don't open it.

Yes, the limit is 20, 20 IMAGES, not just pictures. Long ago, it was unlimited, then lowered to 5, then upped to 20 some time back. That includes the smiles things. If you put more than 20 in a post, the post will not submit and it will tell you. (Got me a few times, LOL, but it never fails, it over, it stops you). Here is an example of a thread with multiple posts of exactly 20 images per post. Be forewarned, frus, that it too, just as this one, is politely and courteously labeled "photos (a lot)(sound too)". Thanks, E, for labeling this one "(photos! lots!)", as I was going to look at it last night but was too tired, saved the treat for this AM.

PS: Sheri, keep the Monty thoughts, trips and pictures coming, so many enjoy them here.

Thanks, Dan.

But if every time I post his adventures it turns into an argument (which I suspect is going to happen) I don't want the small children (and others) who read Monty posts each day exposed to the negativity of the trolls.

I'll still make Monty posts, just on my own website, where I can control the responses and keep Monty's posts a happy place for everyone.

Well Monty, am I jealous ;) I wanna go on a horse & carriage ride too! :p

Looks like you all had a fun day. Thanks for sharing Monty's (and your) adventures Sheri.

I think your posts are wonderful and enjoy watching the adventures of monty dog!

I use cable and the pics are not a problem

I dont understand though - dan posts long threads of beautiful pics of disney...and he get oohhs and ahhhs ( love your threads dan) and a dog lover posts pics of her dog in a light hearted manner and people jump all over it???

it said lots of pics...if you dont open the thread....it wont effect you,...skim past and go to the next thread of intrest to you...why openen it...and then Slam the OP.. for somthing you were clearly warned about in the title about a topic that is clearly known about on the boards.

I just dont get it. Do you look for ways to be unhappy?

I don't want to sound stupid, but is Monty a Jack Russell? I have been looking for a good dog for my kids that can keep up with them and someone told me to get a Jack Russell. He seems like the kind of dog that would be very good with kids. I have an old Maltese and an old Cocker Spaniel but they don't really want to play with the kids alot anymore. They have officially turned into my lap dogs now. I have been thinking about getting a Lab, but I was really wanting something smaller.

Geez, I don't know what bee got in your bonnet, but a little computer 101- The slowness of the boards is in direct relation to the number of computers trying to get access. While it is true that images slow down the download times, technology has gotten to the point where it is not noticable unless each of the thousands of people that frequent this board has like a hundred items each, which is not the case. Do you have dialup? We cannot help that you only get 56k at the most. If you have DSL or Broadband, then you really are just trying to stir up trouble, becasue the pics load up instantly, once you get access to the boards themselves!

People have different opinions on whether or not they are good with kids.

IMO, well... it depends entirely on the family. JRTs are a handful. They are little dogs who behave like big dogs. They are very, very hyper and stubborn and require lots of training (they respond very well to clicker training).

They are WONDEFUL dogs, but they are a lot of work, moreso than a lot of other breeds.

Monty is great with kids. But I have also met some JRT's that are not. JRTs love to play and sometimes they play rough. They also jump! I mean they are like little yo-yo's. :yo-yo:

This can scare little children, if the dog jumps up really high. When I say really high, I mean at least 2 feet in the air. (That's Monty's height record so far).

Your kids are used to dogs so that is good. JRT's can be good with kids, but just make sure you get one from a very good breeder who breeds primarily for personality and temperment, or maybe even an older one from a rescue who has already been trained.

The other thing to consider is the other dogs. Monty, as sweet as he is, sometimes irritates older dogs because he is soooo active and does not always understand that older dogs do not want to play.

Other really great small breeds are Corgis, Shelties, Bichons, and Basset hounds and Beagles. :)

If you want more Jack Russell info, feel free to PM me.

Wow, it's sad that there's negativity on a thread like this. I guess some people unfortunately have to bring their negativity everywhere.

But anyways, I enjoyed it! I always like seeing all of Monty's adventures and where he gets to go. It seems like he's got it made!:D

Why do you keep calling the DISers that didn't agree with you trolls?

I didn't see anything posted on that thread that was harmful to kids. There are negative postings all over the DIS.

Some people like the Monty threads some don't. That can be said about any thread on this board. We're not going to all agree on everything. Not agreeing with someone doesn't make you a troll, idiot, jerk...

ignore the negativity...

i am another monty dog fan, although i do more lurking on his threads than posting!

i'd love to see a monty dog website!! let us know when it's up and running!!

Sheri-

I Don't think that I have replied to many of Monty's threads in the past, but I can honestly say that whenever I skimm the thread titles on the CB and see Monty's name, I instantly open the thread. He is such a cutie and you and your bf seem to love him so much to take him on all of these adventures with you. I will very much miss Monty's postings here on the Dis, but will most definitely be looking forward to your Monty website. Please don't let this push you away from the Dis, I have enjoyed reading your replies to other (non-Monty discussions) and hope that you continue to be a member of this community. There are some people who just can not be satisfied with anything and must complain about everything. They seem to come in waves on this board. There will be a lot of negativity for awhile and then it dies down (maybe they lose interest and move onto bothering others) only to reemerge again.

I agree with another poster that there are probably many many posts (exchanges, games, clubs) that do not interest every single person on the Dis, but it is so easy to just bypass those and look for the threads that interest you. If more people could engage in that sort of behavior I think considerable negativity on the Dis as an entire community would be alleviated

junk, a troll tries to create discontent on a BB. If every thread that has a Monty reference in it is labeled as such, and some 'people' (trolls is fine with me) open it only to complain, stir the pot and hurt feelings, then, in my book, FWIW, they fit the accepted definition of a Net troll.

And Robin, a WM has already replied here and said it was fine. I don't think personal griping, sour grape opinions of a handful of people to the moderators are going to make them misapply the guidelines.

Sorry, it still seems to just be working the rules to spread 54 photos over several posts. "Lots" doesn't quite describe it. It took me by surprise.

frustrated I'm starting to have ideas as to why you are frustrated.

They are cute pictures and if you don't like them close the thread...why do some people insist one bringing negativity to everything. Keep on posting Esmeralda...the photos are cute!

I just wanted to chime in and say thanks for posting these. I love seeing Monty but I enjoyed the photo tour of town too. I'm going to check out that site to see what's around here I can do with the Brat Pack.

Keep your chin up, don't let this crud get ya down! :sunny:
