My 18 year old daughter is going to Montreal in the beginning of July to see a concert at Mtelus with her friend. Can anyone recommend a good, safe, less expensive hotel in the area? They’ll be there 3 nights, so tips on stuff to do, where to eat-nothing fancy, for a couple of recent high school graduates who have never been to Montreal and want to do something fun.

Thank you!

That's near Place des Arts I think? Honestly I would use Redtag.ca or something and zoon in on that area, keep it to 3.5 stars and above and take what comes up on a deal. You don't want them taking the subway out to the East end at night, rather somewhere they can walk.

Also - its July so probably option to grab dorm room rental at UQM which is so close too - not sure if they do that but most universities do

Last weekend getaway to Montreal we stayed in a funky little boutique hotel called Celebrity on St Denis across from the old CHUM (hospital). Nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable, and inexpensive. Close to your mTelus, and easy walking to pretty much everything.

Of course, back when I was 18 we never got a hotel room when we tripped to Montreal for a concert. The bars are open almost until sunrise... :)
