Montreal Port/Car Rental ??

Hello everyone!!

Does anyone have on advice on the closest car rental companies to the Montreal port? We have family members who are cruising to Montreal and will have to rent a car one way back to central New York. I'm wondering who's closest to the port and if any compaines have shuttles to their location. I really appreciate any help! Many thanks.

I think your relatives are going to have a very difficult time doing a one-way rental from a Canadian rental agency and dropping it off in a foreign country. Most Canadian car rental agencies require special permission to even take a rental into the United States.

I would suggest they consider the Amtrak Adirondack route which departs from Montreal Gare Centrale with stops in Rouses Point, Plattsburgh, Port Kent, Westport, Port Henry, Ticonderoga, Whitehall, Ft. Edward, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Hudson, Rhinecliff, Poughkeepsie, Croton-on-Hudson, Yonkers and New York -- Penn Station.

Montreal Gare Centrale is reasonably close to the Montreal port area.
