Monsters replace Muppets replace Aerosmith

Now if they change the track up a little bit for the new Muppet ride, that would be great. The fact that they are not gone from the park, makes me OK with this change.

Yes I loved the show cause there was no wait, but at least they are still there.

The food options were losing were never good to me anyway so that doesn't bother me

I do not ride rollercoasters but I am a huge muppets fan. This might be the one way to get me on a roller coaster.

I just hope the Mamaa Melrose location sticks around as a table service restaurant! There is certainly potential for that. Harryhausen's would be great as long as there are a few non-sushi items on the menu - I love other Japanese/Asian foods. I can't ride RnR - so I hope there is some nice other Muppets theming in the area so I can still experience a touch of them!

I would like to see an actual closing date. We don’t have a WDW trip planned in the next six months and if I can’t see the Muppets, then I want to plan a trip!

I literally just woke up (in Japan so different timezone) and hopped on Twitter and this was immediately the first thing I saw. Honestly thought it was a joke because the source was WDWNT but nope it was real after doing a Google search.

I am not surprised to see the Muppets go but they're really going to keep the massive waste of space that is Animation Courtyard over Muppets? This company man LOL

Back in the day, my mom did not ride rollerocasters, but was a huge Aerosmith fan. It did not end well lol. I remember her throwing up in a trash can after and not feeling well for a bit after 🤦🏻‍♀️

I don't know how I feel about this. Electric Mayhem coaster is cool, but the whole family could do Muppetvision, but only half of us can do RnR due to either too short or gets motion sick. I really hope they can preserve Muppetvision somehow, since Jim Henson himself worked on it. After the recent Wine and Dine 5K, my son wants to see more of Swedish Chef in the parks.

From the announcement, the biggest loss for my family is Pizzarizzo's. Not just because my picky kid approved, but the party room upstairs was a hidden gem. We appreciated the attention to detail, like how the event sign announcing a wedding reception has the faded letters in the background, indicating that Pa Otter's memorial service was previously held there (Pa Otter, the father of Emmett Otter, from "Emmett Otter's Jug Band Christmas.") But most of all, it was a place my kids could get their wiggles out on the dance floor while also decompressing from the crowds. It was a great place for us to recharge. I hope the Monsters' area has something like that, especially since we are losing TS Island at Magic Kingdom and the Boneyard at Animal Kingdom. My kids can't handle line after line all day

RnR is one of my favorite rides. I’m ok with the change, as long as they keep fun music to it. Only downfall is RnR was down this year while we were there. We will be back in 2026 and I’m sure it’ll be closed for the change then too.

I do not understand the mindset of people complaining that they will lose something for 'their kids now'. Your kid is only going to be that age once at Disney. Would make it a real hard repeat vacation spot if everything fit into the 'family friendly for 2 y/os' aesthetic that seems to be too many of all y'alls 'family friendly' definition. Walt wanted a park and experience for the 'whole family' instead of him sitting on a bench watching his daughters on a carousel in Griffith Park.

All kinds of families visit Disney. Young kids, middle schoolers, teenagers. Adult family groups. Disney offers something for everyone. Disney's new round of plans will also continue to offer something for everyone. We are going to be losing a muppets show (which yes is sad because I do share personal memories of it like many of you) but are gaining a monsters show and hopefully a rollercoaster that is going to be in the sweet spot between Guardians and Mine Train.

Your family grows and changes - the parks need to be able to accommodate that growth and change. If they didn't the Dis community wouldn't exist because it would be nothing but a one and done for everyone. The parks offer a whole range of experiences and trips based on people's group dynamics and interests. I hope this never changes.

Not sure I'll ride the coaster much, but this seems to make sense to me! The Muppet theater show was horribly outdated and boring IMHO,this'll be a fun new way to have muppets in the park and bring it back to life (hoping for great theming there in general for muppets fans)

I have mixed feelings about it. I always thought the area that Muppets is in now had a lot of wasted space so there is that. Of course, right now Animation Courtyard also has a lot of wasted space so maybe Monsters would have fit better over there. Maybe they didn't want to retro fit a food establishment over there when they already had the bones in Muppet Courtyard?

I love Muppet 3D but will admit I don't go see it every trip (to be fair I go 3 or 4 times a year). I don't like the ride system for RNRC, my poor little head bounces around like a bowling ball no matter how hard I try to push it back. I hadn't ridden it in years, even before the last closure so rode it last time I was there. I made sure I was taking Bonine every day for all the other coaster type rides so thought why not. Nope, still bounced my poor little head around and I got off with a killer headache. So if they keep the same ride system it will be a big ole no for me. I'm not a huge Muppets fan, I don't think I've seen any of the movies and maybe only saw anything with them when my son was watching TV. So I'm o.k. with that part.

I saw the Monsters Inc. movies, I liked them o.k. but again, not a huge fan. I've never stepped foot in Laugh Floor over at MK. If I'm still going to WDW by the time it gets done, I will probably do the things once and that will be it for me.

My biggest problem is the problem I have with all the "new" things they are doing in the parks now. Nothing original and just throwing their IP in there. I hate they have done it in WS in Epcot, bad enough they changed the Living Seas to Nemo but they didn't need to take the edutainment out of WS. It all works in MK and maybe even the front of Epcot. HS used to be more adult centric and even when I had a small child we loved it. They are trending it more toward kid friendly now. I get it, people with smaller kids didn't think it was a park for them, again my son loved it even when he was 9 or 10 so it was great for us. I find less to do there now then I did when it was the old MGM. I spend maybe a couple of hours there at a time now then leave. I love the old Hollywood feel of Sunset and that area, think it's maybe the prettiest park during the holidays and love shows but most of the rides and the current lands just don't appeal. Maybe their current thinking is less Disney adult and more Disney family with kids under say 15.

From a park operations standpoint post Galaxy’s Edge, the decision to put Monstropolis in where Muppet Courtyard was makes sense.

Disney, by removing Streets of America, and the Premier Theater created a dead end space in Muppet Courtyard. They need something in the back of the area to draw guests into it and disperse to the restaurants/show after. Now Disney also accelerated the demise of Muppet Courtyard with removing a Meet & Greet and closing the shops. Tack on Mama Melrose and PizzeRizzo aren’t known for glowing review.

Also since it’s all a re-skin of the majority of the infrastructure they’ll be able to turn most of it around relatively quicker than what a renovation at the Animation Courtyard/Launch Bay would take.

And then there’s Launch Bay/Animation being a potentially more valuable expansion pad (if they can finally get those in the Corporate offices to move out) and they seem to be saving it for a larger IP than Monster’s.

My first visit to WDW is planned for end of August 2025 (I am from Europe), so I am very sad that i probable will not experience this; I have been a Muppet show fan since my childhood and had looked forward to this attraction. I hope the complete experience will find a new home elsewhere in the parks as suggested. So perhaps I will be able to see it at least at a possible second visit in a few years.

Muppets 3D was fun, but old and stale.

We thought so too. The 3D idea was fun and the movie was enjoyable, but I don't think it has ever changed in the time that show existed. While I understand the dedicated theatre made some type of changes difficult it seemed that over the years Disney could have at least changed the movie so it wasn't the same thing for 25 yrs (or however long it has been there). They seem more focused on glitzy new big budget rides instead of keeping these from getting stale.
