Hi- How young is too young to expose them to Monsters Inc?

My husband and I are a little concerned that the idea of monsters in the closet will open a whole can of worms for us. We really want them to see the movie, because it is great, and, also, because our youngest looks like Boo and think they'd get a kick out of it. The storyline is not scary at all, and I think they'd grasp it. It's just the whole screaming from the closet that we're wondering if anyone else had issues with...
Anyone want to comment pls do!

I would think that, if anything, seeing the movie would make children WANT to have monsters in their closets. I'm not a parent yet, though. I do teach kindergarten, however, and the majority of my students have seen it already.

Considering how it works out in the end, with the monsters making kids laugh and being nice, I wouldn't think it'd be a problem. However every child is different and has different sensitivity. You'll have to be the judge of what your kids can handle.

A bunch of us had this debate last night about Monsters, Inc. Some think my children are too you and the others don't. :confused3
Well, it just so happened that my niece who was visiting her grandparents in the midwest saw the movie with some of her young cousins. My niece is 3.5 yrs old. She has not stopped talking about monsters and gore to my mom and I since she has returned. She keeps saying she saw the movie and it was scary, but had to watch it. Still uncertain where the bloody guts are coming from since the movie itself is tame in that department.
So, in conclusion, I think it is something we will wait on for a bit longer.

Thanks for the advice! :goodvibes

What works for one child or one family may not work for another -- there's no one single answer to questions like these.

You know your kids better than anyone. If you have any doubts, that's reason enough to wait. The movie isn't going anywhere, and it won't get any worse with age.

Gotta agree here. If your kids are frightened during Bambi then dont let them watch. Its up to you how long you want to shelter them from the best Pixar movie made...
