Monsters Inc. Rollercoaster Green Lit

I am all for it too, as long as it's not a rollercoaster like RNR. Now don't get me wrong, it's a great ride, but it likes me less and less the older I get. I think it would be nice to have a roller coaster there more along the intensity lines of BTMRR or even Space Mtn- something the younger kids can ride too, without necessarilty being a "kiddie" ride.

It will be like this IMO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-y9a7oWt90

Only this type of coaster comes with the option of the cars that can free swing or stay stationary as said here http://www.vekoma.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13&Itemid=11 ( video of it in action at very bottom of page ). This coaster the seats are stationary, but to best mimic the movie the cars would probably swing. As the train goes around a curve the cars swing further out without the track tilting, and even on straight sections the cares can still swing back and forth giving that feel of the doors in the movie. The coaster you see in the video is family friendly with over the shoulder restraints but made to feel like a lapbar and makes the little ones feel like they are on a big kids ride. It is also built by vekoma who help build everest and RNR. Making this the logical choice.

But IMO I think HS should be geared more towards the thrill seekers. The little ones have MK and AK is for everyone and EPCOT is for anyone. Disney is trying to gear a halloween event geared towards teens to compete with US's halloween horror nights which is amazing.... But it looks like disney is thinking of giving HS to the teens and thrill seekers.

I really hope they make an announcement about this ride eventually, but I do not want to see an intense roller coaster based on a family-friendly film. Please have it be like a Big Thunder-type coaster. :)

The problem with RnR, in my opinion, is that the track hasn't had a major re-working/track-overhaul. The track has gotten rougher and rougher as the attraction has aged.

agnes!

We ( including myself ) are spoiled in terms of smoothness of disney coasters. When I come back from Disney and go to six flags I am being battered and beaten much more than ever at Disney. The reason being, all disney's coasters tracks are refurbished and even replaced almost every 5-10 years. At a park like Six Flags the smoothness of the coaster only last while the ride is new, and when it gets rough you have to deal with it because they don't do overhauls like disney.

I just watched Monsters Inc. with the kids this afternoon, and the door track would make for an awesome roller coaster. I would love another thrill ride at the World.
