Has anyone else noticed that the game can be REALLY SLOW on some machines? Like my otherwise-trusty 1.25 GHz G4 iMac, when running this game in either Safari or Firefox? I mean...
I T... C R A W L... S
Well, I did a little experimenting and discovered something - if I open the game directly, rather than let it open on top of the Monsters Inc ride page, itFLIESLIKETHEWIND!!!. Maybe it does this anyway on higher-speed machines, but what a relief!
Mind you, I mapped the whole maze (the long way - I had every door mapped before I got to the winning door) by hitting a key, watching my little guy move one square and then sit down, and then hitting a key, etc. I did it this way twice. Argh - no way I would subject my DDs to this!
How did I solve this? I checked the source of the Monsters Inc ride page on disneyland.com and found the URL to the SWF game file. Whoo-hoo! Dropped that into an empty browser window and "Boom-Baby!" Faster than you can say "Kuzco's a llama," the game loaded up and ran like there was nothing in its way, such as the pesky ride page. And it generated a door code at the end with no problemo. Riiight!
Your reward for reading all of this? The link to the game without the Monsters Inc ride page to slow things down:
http://adisneyland.disney.go.com/media/dlr_v0200/en_US/special/monsters/VMK_Ad.swf
Note: If clicking on the link doesn't work, try copying it or dragging it to another browser window.
Now, after you try this... did it run this fast for you before? Is it just me and my poor iMac? (Maybe don't tell me - I'm already lusting after the new Intel-based G5 iMac that Steve "Pixar" Jobs introduced yesterday.
Sigh... enjoy!
