DH presented me with my valentines day gift earlier - tickets to a monster truck rally.

He thinks it will be a blast for the whole family. I've never been to anything like that. What do you bring to these things - earplugs? :confused3

:rotfl:
You sure you didn't mean to post this on the redneck thread?
Earplugs and buy yourself a beer.

I'm actually getting tix to take my kids, I would laugh so hard if dh gave em to me tonight as a present.

I have been. And I am not a truck rally girl. But we (DH, DS8, me) all enjoyed it! The crowd is really fun. The beer is cold and the trucks and stunts are pretty cool. Bring earplugs - that is no joke - it is really, really loud.

I went once! It was so much fun. It was inside so I was dying - definitely bring some earplugs or other muffs. It was deafening!

They are in Cleveland this weekend, will probably take my son. We have taken earplugs, but he wouldn't wear them. It's only loud for a few seconds at a time, so it isnt real bad..

When DH and I were engaged, we jokingly decided to go to the Monster Truck Rally. I was in charge of purchasing tickets and thought the closer the better...we ended up on the 2nd row at the arena. I wondered why those seats were still available, but I found out as soon as we arrived. We inhaled so much exhaust and probably suffered some hearing loss. :rotfl2: But it was a blast. I enjoyed people watching. They did sell earplugs for a $1 or so...they were the soft foamy neon orange ones that you can buy in the sporting goods section at Walmart for hunting. I would recommend them.

Please don't remind me. :rolleyes1

We are going tomorrow night with the Scouts. DH usually takes DS himself, but this year DD (4) wanted to tag along, so I was "forced" to go.

MMMMM can't wait. :headache:

I reccomend the soft earplugs as well. Roll them in your fingers so they are in a point, they slide into your ear much easier.

If kids will not wear them then get the headphone type of hearing protection. You can put themon real quick when there is anoise coming then take them off so you are not as annoyed by them.

Also
If you are not too fond of sucking exhaust, a breathing mask is reccomended. I have seen many in the crowds. Assuming this is an indoor event.
