Monster . com for a job?

Has anyone here used them? Do they ever really get back to you with a job interview? I'm leery of giving them my information, will I start getting a ton of spam emails?

Yes I used them several years ago to change jobs. I set up the automatic notification so I would know when something in my career field came up. I sent in a resume, got an interview and was hired. (had about a 10% increase in salary and promotion by changing employers)

I never did get any spam emails when I was using them.

It worked for me. I have my current wonderful job thanks to a resume I submitted on Monster . No idea WHY they picked me to interview since it was a job I had not done before. Had the skills but never that title. It's a perfect fit though.

It might not hurt to set up a separate email account to use for your job search. That way, you don't risk losing a potential job email in with all the spam and other stuff you get everyday.

I applied for a job through them in 2006 and only went as far as a telephone interview. It would have been a good job, but when I found out it wasn't a permanent position, I decided against it.

I don't believe it caused me to get any spam.

Yep, Monster is legit. You shouldn't get any spam from them.
But I've had better luck with Careerbuilder. That's how I found my last two jobs.

I've never had a prob with monster....and the job I have now (4 yrs) I got from there

Back in 2001 I was going to school to become a computer help desk analyst and during one of the courses, we put our resumes on Monster.com....well I saw a job related to the health insurance field and applied for the job....a month later I had to leave the school because the company hired me...Although I didn't finish the program...I gained an easier commute and a great job with a great group of co-workers....even though at the end of 2003 they eliminated our department and I went back to a company I had worked previously.....I highly recommend trying Monster.com.

Quite a lot of my family has used them in the recent past. All found jobs via Monster.com before anything else

I use monster along with other websites....no hits from them but I also probably don't use it to its full capability.
