Hi, I am new to these boards. While I am a WDW veteran, my hubby and I are taking our first trip out to Disneyland. I just booked the Paradise Pier Hotel and I read that someone recommended taking the monrail into the park rather than walking because you save time. Do you all agree with that? If so, where do we pick the monrail up?

Thanks!

You have to walk from PP to DTD--there's a monorail stop right in DTD--near the ESPN restaurant, if memory serves me correctly.
We stayed at the DLH in December, and sometimes we took the monorail and sometimes we walked. Not sure that the monorail saved us any time, but it sure was fun!
Have a great trip! :sunny:

DisneyDotty is right, you have to get to the monorail first! Its not like WDW where the resorts have stops for the monorails. I would say the walk from PP to the monorail stop is about 5 minutes. You will have to have a park ticket to ride the monorail since it stops right in the middle of Tomorrowland. Its more of a ride than a mode of transportation at Disneyland. Sometimes when we have stayed at PP or DLH we have taken it in the mornings, other times its just easier to walk. We prefer to get to the park 30 minutes before opening, Main Street is open (unless park opening is at 8:00 a.m., then the turnstiles won't open until 8:00 and Main Street isn't open 30 minutes early). The first monorail won't leave the station until the official park opening. It can also be very crowded in the morning with people wanting to ride it into Disneyland. Sometimes you have to wait for a second monorail and therefore its actually faster to walk! The walk from PP to the parks is about 10-15 minutes depending on how fast you walk.

I never monorail into DL in the am because i like entering through main st. To cut the walk you can walk through the Grand Californian.I do like to monorail when exiting from DL.

We used it some mornings, and entered at the main enterance on others. It doesn't save time, just walking distance.

Does the monrail run for EE also or only offical opening time?

Yes, it does, but you must have EE priveledges to use it. Also, lately for the first couple hours of the day, you need to be a DLR hotel guest to ride it from DTD.

Is this due to the limited path of the monorail these days? I have heard the monorail doesn't make a round trip but goes back and forth on the same path while they work on the Nemo lagoon.

I think it is a shame that you have to walk so far to get to the monorail station from the hotels. I feel they should have extended the track to make stops at each hotel and Downtown Disney. I have walked from PP to the Main entrance and rom PP to the Momorail station. They are both very far especially, when you will be walking all day in the parks.

Nearby non-Disney hotels are much closer to the main entrance.
