Monorails to no longer operate during Evening Extra Magic Hours

Prior to closing the Express Monorail, a guest wanting to arrive more quickly should take the Express Monorail unless the line is significantly longer than the line for the Resort Monorail. But if they do choose the shorter line for the resort monorail, they do risk that the extra stop could cause them to still arrive later than they would have otherwise arrived. But that's their pejorative.

Ok I am seriously not being the grammar police...I am not familiar with the word perjorative so I looked it up...not sure if it fits in your sentence and was wondering if you meant perogative.

Again I am not being rude, I am trying to understand. Keep in mind I just came from a 1 year old birthday party and am tired and operating on some type of sugar high/low (haven't decided).

So if the resort monorail if only for MK resort guests, why is anyone who wants to go to DTD shown to a SSR bus from a theme park? Should be the same, the bus is only for the guests of that resort, or guests visiting that resort.

Yes, this - and thanks for saving me a lot of writing :)

Shouldn't you be off working on your plans for our alternate form of exclusive transportation rather than stirring the pot? :rotfl:
Nope. Cafeen conceptualizes. It's up to other, less lofty thinkers to now invent the alternate exclusive transportation...

I only said the Resort Monorail should be for guests staying at the Contemporary/Bay Lake Tower, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian during the more busy times like before the Magic Kingdom closes. This way there will always be enough space for all of them and they can get on before the Resort Monorail shuts down at 11:00 PM. Plus during that time there is the Express Monorail that also goes to the TTC and it's faster then taking the Resort Monorail over there. Now if the Express Monorail has closed and the Resort Monorail is the only option for guests to access the Transportation & Ticket Center then they have no choice to let non Monorail Resort guests get on the Resort Monorail. No one including myself has ever said to make the Resort Monorail 100% exclusive from morning to the night for guests staying at the Monorail Resorts.

Now the difference with the buses for Saratoga Springs is that WDW is not stopping the bus service for any of the other resorts at a specifc time like what is happening with the Epcot Monorail and next month starting with the Magic Kingdom Express Monorail. The only reason Cast Members and other guests suggest taking the Saratoga Springs bus is because the Theme Parks don't have a direct bus to Downtown Disney. So being that SSR is very close to there it's easy for guests to use the walkway that goes to Downtown Disney. So you can't compare the Monorail to the Buses.

And how exactly are they going to figure out who's a Contemporary/Bay Lake Tower, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian guest and who's not? CMs checking room keys at the ramps? You realize that's a logistical nightmare, don't you? And beyond that, they make good money from people visiting just to dine...there's no way they want to tell them they can't there from here.

But you're at the right park for this idea... MK is home to Fantasyland, after all.

Oh crap. So I guess that means we're stuck wallowing in all this monorail uncertainty and debate.

Well let's say it's 10:00 PM and a lot of guests are leaving the Magic Kingdom and that night it's scheduled to close at 12:00 AM. At that 10:00 PM time the stores and restaurants will have just closed at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian. At the Contemporary their restaurants have also closed but their stores are open until 11:00 PM. Now during that time of the evening there would be no reason for non guests to visit the Monorail Resorts, so they can save space on the Resort Monorail for guests staying at those resorts and those who need to access the TTC can take the Express Monorail since that will still be open for them. So only during that time they could have a Cast Member making announcemnets that only guests staying at the Monorail Resorts get on the Resort Monorail or they can have someone asking for Key To The World cards. I mean they ask for them when the parks have AM Extra Magic Hour before you enter them and at the attractions during PM Extra Magic Hours and no one complains about it, so something like that can be done when looking at those examples.

Huge logistical difference. The number of people who approach Space Mountain during EMH doesn't come close to the number of people who clog the ONE RAMP to the resort monorail during peak hours. Entering the park for EMH, there are plenty of turnstiles open to help break up the crowd.

Imagine instead hundreds of people approaching the monorail ramp at one... each stopping to look for their resort key...

You have yours out, of course, because you planned ahead -- but you can't even get to the CM to show him your card to get through because of all the people in front of you still looking for theirs... then, of course, a large group of people (with a stroller, no doubt) is turned away because they don't have a KTTW card and you (and everyone else) will have to actually step back -- further from the monorail entrance -- to let these people back out of the line.

Can't work. Won't work.

No problem. That's what happens when my fat thumbs misspell on my iphone with autocorrect. I did mean perogative. I had to look up the other word too after pointing it out. Oops. :goodvibes

I mean isn't this the point of having two Monorails that go to the TTC. This way they can save as much space for guests staying at the Monorail Resorts prior to it's closing at 11:00 PM. I agree that when the Express Monorail is closed then people will have no choice but to get on the Resort Monorail, I just worry that if a lot of guests went on it before it might cause other Monorail Resort guests to miss it.
Looks like KSDisneyDad didn't actually save me much writing after all ;).

No, the point of having two - three, really - monorails stop at the TTC isn't to save as much space as possible for guests staying at the Monorail Resorts :sad2:. Truly, your responses ar getting more elitist and exclusionary. MK area resort guests certainly aren't guaranteed more space, or even space, on any specific monorail train - certainly not reserved space.

So only during that time they could have a Cast Member making announcemnets that only guests staying at the Monorail Resorts get on the Resort Monorail or they can have someone asking for Key To The World cards.
Anybody showing a fairly current KttW would be able to board the resorts monorail, even under this ill-conceived plan. You would need more CMs than would be feasible to inspect the cards thoroughly for resort numbers and current dates.

Well the only other option is to have a Cast Member on a bull horn and saying out loud guests staying at the Monorail Resorts you go here, others going to the Transportation & Ticket Center you go here.

Also for AM Extra Magic Hour there is only 1 or 2 Cast Members asking for everyones Key To The World card before getting to the entrance gates, so if a huge number of people all come at once how they can check to make sure they are all staying onsite? However they still manage to do that.

I guess I see it as if you are in line at 11:00 pm, you will get a ride. Disney does a good job with queue management. I assume they will do what they always do - they will shut down the entrance so if you're late, you're late. You may still have a 20 minute wait or so, but I can't imagine them turning you away once you're in the queue (monorail resort guest or not).

Riiiiiight. That's very Disney-esque -- a guy shouting into a bullhorn for people to ignore.

The crowds arriving for EMH are not even close to the crowds leaving MK at around closing time. Not even close.

In any case, this is a pointless debate because checking KTTW cards at the monorail entrance is purely your fantasy -- not something that will realistically happen. It won't. Not ever.

No. That's your only option. The existing conditions are fine For almost everybody except the odd rare poster who feels they shouldn't have to share resort transportation with the riff-raff.

Yes that is my opinion and my mistake for saying it incorrectly. However I never said the Resort Monorail should only be 100% for guests staying at the Monorail Resorts all the time. All I said was WDW should consider that during the busy times like before the Magic Kingdom closes.

Back in the old days they used to use a bull horn at closing to seperate resort monorail guests from express. The resort monorail also did not stop at the TTC at closing.

Since no one can park at the monorail resorts to access the parks, no one should be going to the monorail resorts at closing anyway except those staying there.

The new LILO system has the ability to do this, they can install scanners at turnstiles and if you dont have the proper resort ID, you don't go through. No extra CMs needed, in fact the new system has some amazing possiblities in limiting access depending on what is on your KTTW card.

I guess time will tell if they ever do it.

Actually I think taking the ferry to the TTC is much more pleasant.

HAHA well at least we both learned a new word so the endless pages of reading here has at least taught us one new thing! I am surprised the word pejorative (or whatever) was on autocorrect though since when I looked it up it came up as slang or urban language.

Ok, then how do you explain this? During our trip in May we drove to the Poly (we stayed offsite) for a 5:10pm ADR at Ohana. When I pulled up to the gate, I asked the guard if we could just leave our car in the Poly lot while we toured MK after dinner. He said "no problem." We stayed til closing and rode the monorail back to our vehicle at the Poly. We didn't belong there, right?
