Best idea yet. I love the people mover. A continuously running slow train. It might be slow but it would never stop.
Yes, I like this idea, too. I don't know how feasible it is, but slow and steady wins the race. I would be happy with it as a monorail replacement running to the CR from the MK.
Of course, I wish they would build one of these in Epcot to move people around the perimeter of the park, etc.
Some folks have noted that the downtime for the monorail is only x% and this is true, BUT it doesn't really matter. All that matters to any individual guest is if it is running when he/she wants or needs it to be running. It can run whenever it wants, but if it isn't running when I need it, it is irrelevant to me. Also, a monorail is not a bus and vice versa. It is a very different experience - and that is the key word, experience. If one just wants transportation, almost anything will do. If one wants the monorail experience, then there aren't really any other options and it is perfectly valid to complain about it.
When I was looking to take a train to Orlando, Amtrak had a route laid out. Part of it, when you looked at the detail, was a Greyhound bus. A bus is not a train. If I want to travel by train, I want to travel by train. Telling me that a bus will get me there just like a train will is not helpful. It is a very different experience. For some it doesn't matter, for others it does.
I also don't care why the monorail is curtailed, I am affected by the curtailment. Luckily I'm not staying at a monorail resort so I don't feel cheated. If I was, unholy (but polite) war would have erupted between me and Disney. I doubt if much would have happened but I can guarantee you I would not still be paying for a monorail resort.
