If we stay at the Grand Floridian and go to Evening Extra Magic hours at MK will we still be able to take the monorail back to the hotel?

(In case of monorail shutdown, there's direct boat service to GF, and buses will run, as well.)

But, the shut down they had instituted a couple of years ago is over? Unless there is a malfunction I will be able to take the Monorail back? And failing that the boat will still be running at 1am? I really, really hate the busses, so if we have to take a bus after - we'll just drive in instead, and stay somewhere else.

The monorail only operates up to 1 hour after regular park hours. So for EMH there is NO monorail service. Look at this link and scroll all the way to the bottom. This information was updated March 2014

Any idea about the boats? I still think this was a really stupid move with the Monorail - what the heck is the point of paying the extra to stay at a monorail hotel when you can't even use the monorail after using the perk you're supposed to get as an onsite guest?

But it would only effect you twice during a one week stay. Once when Epcot has EMH in the evening and once when MK has EMH in the evening.
When else do you expect them to do the maintenance on the monorail.

What about buses? Would they run buses too? I would assume the boats get very full....

We've stayed at the Poly and FtW. The Poly is obviously a monorail hotel, and there are boats going to the campground. Other people may have had other experiences, but IME, the boats are just as efficient as the monorails.

And, yes, the boats will be running for those staying for EMH.
