I've only been to Disney twice, last time I only went from Pop to the parks....now I'm taking the kids and I know my son would LOVE to ride the Monorail. If we're staying at Pop, whats the best way to get to the Monorail and whats a good place to ride it to? I just know he'd get the biggest kick out of it!

If you go to the MK, you can hop the resort monorail and visit the three MK resorts on the monorail line OR you can ride to the Ticket and Transportation Center and switch to the Epcot monorail and go to Epcot.

Ask if you can ride in the front cab of the monorail. There's a limit of four people up there, but it is really neat.

Sometimes you can even get a conductor license from him. You could schedule a meal at Chef Mickeys at the Cont and then take the monorail from there. I stayed at the Cont with my DS's in the north garden wing in 05, it's gone now. They loved watching Wishes from the room with a coke and some chips.

Once your at any park that accesses the monorail (MK, Epcot) you'll be able to get to it, you'll also be able to use the boat to go over to the Poly, WL or GF from MK if you like. You can resort hop with the Monorail, (of course only to the resorts that the monorail goes to...GF, WL, CR, and the Poly). Have a great time! I know you will.

How about booking a meal at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary? Or at 'Ohana's in the Polynesian?

How does the MK to Epcot work? You obviously have to change monorails, but where and when? Can someone explain further because this is something that my sister and I really want to do since we aren't staying at a Monorail Resort.

It's very easy. You just take the Monorail from the MK to the Ticket and Transportation Center then switch to the Epcot Monorail there. It can sound tricky but once you're there, it's not mysterious or confusing at all.

There are 2 lines for the monorail at MK.

One for resort hotels, and one for ticket and transportation center(TTC). You want to get in the line for the TTC.

When you get to the TTC, exit the monrail and get in the line for the Epcot monorail.

Sit back and enjoy the ride.

at the TTC there are 3 lines - one the resort monrail (Polyn, GF, MK, CR, TTC), Mk monrail (only goes between MK and TTC), Epcot monrail (epcot & TTC) - plus the ferry (goes to the MK & TTC)

lots of people get confused here and get on the wrong monrail.

so take your time be sure where you are going.

you want the front car from TTC to Epcot. from pop take the bus to MK... from MK take the Monorail or the Fairy to TTC. At TTC ask the CM if you can ride up front... you might have to wait... in the mid afternoon is the best time to do this. This is one of the best rides in WDW.

We were lucky enough to be able to ride in the front cab with the CM/"engineer" several years ago. Our 2 young daughters loved it. On top of being a cool ride and view, it was Easter Sunday morning about 900am as a thick fog from overnight was just starting to break up and the sun was starting to break through. It was so cool parting the fog. They let us do several loops as there were no lines and no one asking for the front. At the end, theCM/engineer gave the kids engineer certificates and monorail keychains, which was very nice. We still talk about that ride all the time.

OK so TTC is basically your "hub". Once you get there, as long as you know where you want to go, you can take the monorail from there, correct?

yes.

but just take the MK bus to the Mk - then get on the monrail to go to TTC.
