Does anyone know if one is staying off site, can that person ride the monorail? My family and I would like to visit the Grand Floridian Hotel and I was told to take the monorail to reach the hotel.

Yes you can. Just take the resort monorail from the ticket & transportation center (parking lot), or the resort monorail from the magic kingdom. Have fun.

Any Disney resort guest or park ticket holder is eligible to use Disney transportation, including the monorail. If you are coming from off site, you will either drive to the MK or be transported by your hotel's shuttle service to the TTC. From there, you can take the resort monorail to the GS, which will be the second stop. If you are at the MK, you will take the resort monorail almost all of the way around to the GF, which is the last stop before you would get back to the MK. There also is boat service from the MK to the GF.
