Monorail & trying to make it happen.

Hi Everyone!! I'm starting to get excited to plan our next vacation to WDW. I need a little info. & tips from anyone who knows. Our goal for this trip is to stay 9 nights @ POP & treat ourselves to 2 or 3 nights on the monorail or B&Y club. The catch is we will need to get a rate of around $200 a night. I just wonder if this is possible [w/ a discount code?] & what month or week between Nov to mid March will I find the best rates?? My 1st choice is the Poly [b/c of the monorail, close to great restaurants & the theme] & my husband like the Yacht Club. [b/c of the pool, being near Epcot & a great margarita they serve. ] Thanks!

I'm going to say $200 per night is not going to happen...you are outside of the "value" season...and we are going during "value 2" season and we have a 40% discount and our Poly weekday rate is $249, and our weekend rate is $273... I don't see how $200 is going to happen. Sorry.

Here are some discounted rates I had for 1/21 - 1/24 (2012). This was with an AP discount. Divide by 3 since we were quoting 3 nights (2 weekend and 1 weeknight, so a little skewed that way).

Poly:
Garden View: $840.00, Lagoon View: $1043.00, Theme Park View: $1124.00

Beach Club: Water View: $867.00

I guess BC Garden view was not available for that discount when I checked (back in October).

I think those rates work out to about 30% off if I recall right. So with 30% off, you still would be looking at $280 at the Poly garden.

This is Value 1 season - cheapest of the year. The cheapest rack rate for the Poly in 2012 is $405 per night.

I'm going to say $200 per night is not going to happen...you are outside of the "value" season...and we are going during "value 2" season and we have a 40% discount and our Poly weekday rate is $249, and our weekend rate is $273... I don't see how $200 is going to happen. Sorry.

What is the value 2 season? Is there a better time to go? I was looking here on the dreams unlimited hotel page & they had the $200 rates but did not say when. It just said enter your dates. Thanks for the info. I could swing $250 but not sure I want to.

Those rates are amazing for Poly. I would love to go back there. Is it possible to get those $249 rates Feb 22-25? What is an AP rate? The only discounts I Can find right now are the spring room only rates. If anyone knows other discount codes, I would be so grateful!

Overall, it appears that January will offer you the best prices for your November to January time frame, with the exceptions of Marathon weekend and MLK weekend. Of Course, weeknights are cheaper than weekends.

The cheapest Poly rack rate is $405 (source Mousesavers.com) so even with a 40% off you are still almost $250.

Now if you COULD get a 40% off and apply it to a Contemporary Garden Wing standard view room (and the rates stay the same in 2013) you would be under $200 before tax.

I have a better idea though - why not rent points for a studio at either Bay Lake Towers (adjacent to the Contemporary), Beach Club Villas (adjacent to the Yacht Club), or Boardwalk Villas? The Point calendar shows the cheapest times to stay are available in Oct, Nov, Dec as well as Jan (source WDWInfo points chart for BCV).

If you rented through David's DVCbyrequest you could do a weeknight stay at BCV for $195 (there is no tax to add onto a DVC rental). If you could get a standard view at either BLT or BWV it would be even cheaper!!

And there's always the option of renting through the fabulous DVC rent/trade forum here on the DIS.

Of course, all of this is contingent on availability and all three of the above resorts are popular. SO if you think this is an option, I'd get working on it ASAP!

Sorry - AP is annual pass rate. I was just using it as an example of a 30% discount. I realized an AP was probably not in the OP's plans.

I would check Mousesavers and see what is available right now - I don't know myself - maybe nothing, maybe something. But she lists all the discount offers on her page.

Are you set on staying onsite as opposed to something like Bonnet Creek? Although not Disney owned it's on Disney Property near Epcot and DHS. Their normal rooms are nice, but we just got the highest level room (4 bedroom presidential) for $185 a night. As cool as I think the Deluxes are, I don't think I'll ever be able to justify the cost of them after the deal we got at Bonnet.

Paid $240 for standard BCV studio for the same period, with the same discount. Those rates are both before taxes, don't forget to add 12.5% on rates for taxes. I think renting points is going to be your best bet to keep things under $200 a night.

If you don't mind being at a non-Disney owned resort, maybe the Swan or Dolphin might have a deal. They offer teacher and gov't employee discounts that are pretty good. Check Mousesavers for their current offers. Good luck finding a good deal!

In Nov we stayed @ CBR & I had a nice view of Bonnet Creek.I would stay here. It looks great. I have stayed@ Whyndhams before& think they are very nice. It's kinds of us trying treat ourselves a little more& get closer to the action if we can. Q on BC do they have shuttle service?

Thanks for taking the time for my Q! I might try the points thing this time. If not I might just suck it up & get the poly for a few nights. I figure If I don't buy my usual sweatshirts & so on,I can use that towards the Poly. lol!!

I would be more than happy w/ the S&D but do they charge to park your car & how much? Do they have bus service? Lastly they don't do Magical Express??? I like how close it is to Epcot. As we plan on only going to E & MK this trip. [which we have never done, so we'll see]
