Monorail toy questions

We purchased the monorail toy set in the parks and were surprised that there was no remote control. The box description indicates there should be one. Are we misunderstanding this?

Also someone remembered seeing a monorail toy in Epcot in Germany. Is this the same set or are there different ones currently in the parks?

I purchased the monorail along with extra track. I put it around the Christmas tree, but no remote. I would have preferred if it was track powered instead of battery, so I could leave it run.

We have two monorail sets but no remote. Ours certainly don't have the facilities for a remote. Ours were purchased quite a few years ago, don't know if they've updated them with a remote.

The newer monorail sets, at least the DisneyLand Mk VII version, have a remote with the basic functions (forward, reverse, sound, lights) but no speed control.
