My family and I are staying at Pop next month. I know we have to take the buses to get to the parks (we have basic park tix, no park hoppers). Will we be able to use the monorail at all? Or do the buses take you right up to the front of the parks? I would hate to have our DS4 miss out on a monorail ride. He loves trains.

Thanks :)

You can do what I did with my then-5 year old son last year, ride the monorail just for the ride and not as a way to get from one place to another.

There are two monorail lines, and they link up at the poorly-named Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). Picture the monorail lines as the number "9." One line of the monorail is the circle at that makes up the top of the "9." This monorail stops in front of Magic Kingdom (outside of it), and then has stops at Contemporary Resort (it drives right through it!), TTC, Polynesian Resort, and then Grand Floridian before finishing the loop and going right back to the MK station where it just keeps right on going to Contemporary, etc.

The "tail" of the number "9" is the monorail line that goes from TTC to the outside of Epcot. It makes no stops in between. The monorail line actually goes into Epcot a little bit, but the station is outside the park.

People taking the monorail from MK to Epcot (or vice versa) have to get off the monorail at TTC and switch to a monorail on the other line.

Thanks! I didn't know you can just ride it for the fun of it :) That may be an option for us on the first day. We have plans to go to Downtown Disney since we will will be arriving at Pop about mid-afternoon (between 2-3) via DME.

Don't forget to ask about riding in the front of the monorail. That's way cool. They let a max of 4 people up front. You might have to wait for a train or two for your turn. Do this for both the Epcot loop and the MK loop for different views!

We love to ride it the first day. We take the bus to MK and then get on the resort monorail. We get off at each resort to shop, snack, explore, and soak up the Disney magic. It is so much fun and FREE! When we are done, we get off at MK and take the bus back to our resort. Sometimes we will get off at the TTC and switch to the EPCOT line. When we get to EPCOT, we take the bus back to our resort.....

It has become our first day tradition. We are then super pumped to hit the parks the next day.
