Does anyone know when the monorails start :confused3 ? I just booked the Magic Behind the Steam Engines tour at MK, and we have to be there approx 7:15. I was thinking of checking out of our hotel, drive to the TTC :drive: , and take the monorail in. Any thoughts?..........TIA

The resort monorail starts running at 7 a.m. Not sure if you can catch it at the TTC. You may have to walk over to the Polynesian to catch it...about an 8 min walk.

Yes, it starts at 7AM. It will pick up at the TTC.

If your plans are to stay in MK after the tour, your plan will work fine. If you are planning to leave MK to go to another park or whatever, you can save some time and park at the CR. The guard will have your name listed on his clipboard. He will give you a parking pass and tell you where to park. You will NOT be able to park there all day.

Actually.. I think it starts one hour before park opening, like the buses. (Including 1 hour before EMH)

No, the resort monorail starts at 7.

And the busses (for the early morning breakfasts and tours) start before 6:30AM for the MK area.

You can catch the resort monorail at the TTC. But I'm not sure if I would count on it getting me to MK by 7:15. Parking at CR and walking or taking the character breakfast bus seem like safer options.

At least as of a year ago the express monorail and ferry sometimes (EMH mornings?) do not start running until half an hour before regular Magic Kingdom opening time. This further inhibits day guests from getting to EMH.

Use the resort monorail if you have an early event to attend at the MK and the express monorail has not started and/or has a long line.

Just did the train tour last week with my nephew.

Monorail is supposed to start at 7am.

Character buses are supposed to start around 6:30am.

Make sure you allow enough time to be at the TTC at 7am so you're not late. While the tour doesn't start until 7:30am, the do like you to check in by 7:15.

How was the tour? Did you see anything "off limits" - any characters around?

This is the third time I've been on the tour and a little better than the rest because they broke it up a little differently. They used to do most of the talking at the end and in the warm weather, it got kind of tiring. Our guide, Bob, was very entertaining and is one of the actual train engineers - not a trained guide. Yes see things that are "off limits". They actually take you out back to the roundhouse - that's where they talk most about the trains. When you're in the public areas, they talk mostly about Walt Disney and his love of trains.

The tour takes you back (on the train) to the roundhouse (which isn't round) where the upstairs is the monorail roundhouse (still isn't round).

When we went absoultely no photos were allowed once out of the public areas.

This is a great tour, especially for anyone who likes steam trains!

We weren't allowed to take pictures during the transit between Public & backstage due to security. But we were allowed to take limited pictures once out back. Was able to get a picture of my nephew in the engineer's seat. :thumbsup2

I did the tour a few years back, one of the best of all the tours I have done (10 total). Very interesting. And on the tour I was on, it was one of the only (I think the only one) where we were allowed and encouraged to take pictures backstage.
